i was actually thinking as to why the villain here has pretty much the same ideals as the one from again my life, both web novels are written by the same person.

Can't find where to watch the Director's Cut so I just looked up scene by scene that was changed and - No wonder…
the director's cut is not an extended version, it's more or less an alternative retelling of this story with some scenes from this theatrical version removed while also doing an alternative retake for some scenes that were in the theatrical version hence changing the overall impact of a scene to reach a different ending. for example: min tae joo scenes are shown as more affectionate and the overall focus of the film shifts from the father-daughter bond to the deteriorating mental state of kim byung soo.

personal opinion but i sat through both versions back to back and most definitely found the theatrical version to be vastly superior to the director's cut. i did enjoy both but just saying it.

i don't exactly remember but does the korean ver also delves into satoru's past or is this ver the only one that adapted it?

When watching episode 1, I just have one nitpick (maybe I'm OCD), couldn't they have, y'know, printed a Japanese…
the leaflet probably went there through the sea or something since it was put in a bottle, i was actually impressed at that point to the in universe promotion of their service. if it was in japanese, i think yun i seo wouldn't have been able to read it which would make up for another plot hole if she knew what was written on it.

you are just a hater of the manwha. I wonder what you think when you hear that the creators of it were involved…
they didn't help in making this film, all we know is that one of the authors (maybe both but the translation uses the pronoun 'I') visited the set, and that too was only done once. they mostly just put their trust in the director that he would actually deliver.

this is a licensed adaptation, so as far as i'm aware even the license was purchased from the parent company that published the webnovel and not the author themselves, so think of this as whatever you want.

well, the plot is kinda like that too.
well, nothing of that sort even comes up (none of them've even spent the night as far as i remember) and i've only read the first season of the manhwa, last i checked it was up to its third season. the novel is finished tho, so if you find anyone who've read that to completion, that person will be able to give you a better answer.

anyone else kinda annoyed with the teacher ms lee? was she like this in the webtoon ?
it's been some time since i read it but as far as i remember, her depiction here is pretty close to the original. i wasn't annoyed with her tho, probably because i already knew what i was jumping into.

novel fans really bombed the rating am crying 😭 overall the movie wasn’t bad the only notable thing is the…
one of the admins has confirmed that the review bombing by novel fans (or more so the new accounts) doesn't impact the overall rating on mdl, it's the rating by long time users that is reflected in the overall rating of the film.

here is the link to the admin stating this very thing in one of the support forums: https://mydramalist.com/discussions/support/143636-133-fake-reviews-in-4-days?pid=3357862&page=1#p3357862

In poster, it's clear they said it's based on. So they don't intend to make identical out of it.
i've been watching south korean adaptations for some time and i think i've kind of made my peace with them knowing that they never adapt a source material faithfully and always adding their own twist, in most cases i actually liked that part about south korean adaptations. orv was honestly a perfect story for me, so i didn't want them to add their own twist, but since i already knew they were gonna do it, i adapted to it very quickly, that's the sole reason that i once defended the inclusion of sword scene which honestly is the least of the problems this film has but i'm just saying it as an example.

but even with adding their own twist and making it sort of an entity on its own, there must be a line where they need to stop. and i've realized that the line for me is the core of the story and character personalities. i think japanese adaptations are much better in that sense that they actually stay true to the original core of the story and character personalities.

this film is honestly a disgrace to orv and if there was a slight chance that this film was good on its own, i would've to some extent actually liked it considering it would've atleast been some sort of promotion for the original. but the kind of film this is, an average person might like it but there's only a 20% chance they'll be intrigued by the concept of it and that they'll be interested in reading the novel or manhwa which desire they might forget about too if they don't act on it fast enough. it's not a film that leaves an everlasting impression on the mind of an average viewer (well, it does impact the mind of an orv fan albeit very traumatically)

i think the director was reading death note when deciding on what to make yokoya wear, looks exactly like near and the wig looks so bad yet so funny, it makes me laugh every time. also why the heck did they make the final episode a whole ass recap for most part of it.

nao is basically naruto with her "i want to believe" statements. i honestly always forget how much of a blockhead nao is in the beginning parts of liar game. anyways, the contraband arc was honestly so well done in this drama, like in some aspects they even surpassed the manga ver.

also just thought i should share this here, an anime adaptation by madhouse just got confirmed for liar game. this one was totally unexpected and out of the box, but i'm definitely excited for this release. anyways, here is the link for the announcement trailer for the anime:
