the fighting in this drama how do you rate itlowmidgreat.... I am going with mid. I keep seeing people say how…
Mid. The choreo in here is def good compared to most others in recent history. But it's just not in the same league as like Strange Tales of Tang Dynasty (S3), Lu Lingfeng's choreo and camerawork is just crazy.

I know, I even mentioned it in my previous comment, as I said, it's just a bandage on the fundamental issues.

The typical inn brawl wuxia start is fine, but the execution, yeah... Not sure why they focussed so much on Huo Linglong instead of Zhan Zhao at the start.
But saw they revised the first two episodes by putting Zhan Zhao's flashbacks in front making it better in that aspect. Not that it matters now, it doesn't fix the fundamental issues throughout with the storytelling, being held from intriguing information.

Funny that more is revealed in ep17 and on, as I dropped it at ep16, though I did see it coming at the end of ep16. Might pick it up again and binge it when it finishes, as cdramaland is still so dry when it comes to actual wuxia.

Yeah, and it's not that there's not even much dialogue, they do talk a lot as well, but the writing is so subpar that it barely holds any content and intrigue. It's like the action is on ffw, while the plot is on slowmotion.

This a real Wuxia though; every other drama you have ever watched that has tacked this genre was never really…
Not talking about characters' combat techniques. I'm talking about the sequence of every fight, the way the events in a fight are scripted. It's also mostly the sheer frequency, which causes the cool fights to get more and more monotonous.

Idk, it's getting harder to want to continue watching. Suspense is still near zero for the crime case aspect, the writing and pacing, yeah... Also getting tired of the wuxia aspect where Zhan Zhao cartoonishly keeps fighting the same npcs over and over again with the same kind of sequences. It's like they just wanted cool fights, and were forced to add some plot around it.

Everytime Huo Linglong gets screentime, I wonder, what's even the point of her being in here. It's like she doesn't fit in and doesn't add anything to the dynamics. Aside from the character itself, Zhang Ruonan's line delivery is still so bad.

why is the rating 7.7, this drama deserves more than that. MDL people just be acting strange all the time.Edit:…
People still care about ratings here? Only on MDL is a 7.7 low, where every idol romance is inflated by all the 10's getting handed out like candy.

What can I say. A pretty flat start, too much nonsense in the same inn and forest. And the forced emotional scene or whatever that was that quickly in was so bad.
The fights are fine I guess, but not sure what it really is, the overall wuxia vibes feel very off for some reason. I still have a dozen episodes to catch up on, so we'll see.

An actual wuxia in this day and age? I used to pray for times like this.
And it's made by Daylight Ent with a director from Nirvana in Fire, so can't go wrong.
Also not that long after the Immortal Ascension which made my opinion on Yang Yang soar from rock bottom. Almost shedding a tear, hope it exceeds my expectations.

How can this be? This is adapted from a popular donghua, how can it be like a high school project?
Watch the old trailer and look at the cast/costumes, especially Hei Huang, the "dog", lmao

Drama out of nowhere that scores great on douban and has barely any ratings on mdl, must be a great watch. Reminds me somewhat of Be with You, speaking of which, can they release the 2nd season of that one already, can't believe it's been almost 3 years already.
Guess I know what to watch for my first drama of 2026.

It started pretty well with the golden peach case, but the cases after that were weak and dull. Mostly being murder cases involving lovers or some pitiful girl, at least it felt like it with how much it dragged during those 'emotional' plays. Supernatural/strange cases, what are those? Guess the screenwriter ran out of ideas after two seasons, god knows what he can still come up with for the next three seasons. But this series is still better compared to most of the rest of what cdramaland has to offer in recent years, so there's that. And it's still a great experience having the same cast for multiple seasons, even seeing people grow up. Especially love the cameos from characters of previous seasons.
