i don't hate the ending but i hate how they made 2nd ml more annoying. of all the characters, they decided to…
So the SML naturally became successful? I saw the ep 21 promo but couldn't watch the episode yet.

Seems like his obsession with the FL was always his downfall🥲
I thought he'd have a better ending.

I'm really confused reading all the comments about ending. Can someone explain what exactly happened ? Fine with…
It was a realistic ending - they woke up from the coma. This means that all the events in the drama were just a dream and never happened.

The good thing about their experience is that both retained their memories so they will get together again. We just need to choose to ignore the rest for our peace of mind 🙈(TBF they are both young and tenacious so they'll probably start over again/ find a way to help their friends)

👇⚠️Synopsis of the last 10 mins (stop at the 28-33min mark if you don't want to go back to the original timeline)⚠️:
Basically 10 days after the elavator accident, GXJ wakes up only to realize she is back to her old life. Once she is able to leave the hospital, GXJ rushes back to Lin's office only to find that Lin had handed over his resignation just minutes before her arrival. GXJ proceeds to search for him and sees him get into a crowded elavator. She somehow gets in just in time and positions herself next to him. In classic c-drama fashion, the new elavator also shakes for a second and involuntarily both Lin and GXJ clasp their hands together. They look into eachother's eyes with a knowing tender look implying that Lin remembers their relationship too.

If you are into the second couple, while they don't have any memories of the alternate reality, the drama literally ends with them bumping into eachother again after a long time. There's no mention of the other support cast either. It's possible they had to cut short the ending honestly😅

WHAT’S EVEN MORE DEPRESSING IS THE FACT THAT GAO RUI IS STILL D😭😭
This is my only gripe with the drama. While IDK what happened to him and the cousin after ep 19 yet, the fact that there is absolutely no hope for them now just sucks.

On the bright side, at least we didn't have to go through XJ's horror of realizing that his friend is still dead when that was his original regret 🥲

Yikes....that's waay too much melodrama 🙈

I think I'll stick to the drama- add my own little additions to make the ending feel enjoyable 🙈

Thanks for taking the time to explain the novel- i was curious about it since many mentioned it was completely different. Didn't expect it to be this different🙈

Ahhh that kind of ending- i thought they didn't have much romance since another user mentioned that their initial interactions were mostly via wechat🙈

It's too bad he ends with Alzheimers but at least they had a full life ❤️

With the drama, I guess, we just need to be creative on our own. Hopefully someday timetravel will not be an issue with c-dramas 🙏

Thanks! I haven't watched "Forever and Ever" before so will give it a go.

I too avoid Chinese TT dramas usually for the same reason- the SOOY edit I saw online was just too good to resist 😅

Haha no worries- as a fellow resident MDL ranter I get what you mean 🙈

I haven't had the chance to watch today's episodes (except for the infamous 10 mins🤫) so not sure how they handled the arguement.

My understanding as to why GXJ wanted to keep their relationship a secret was because people might misunderstand how she ended up in Lin's team? She was already having a hard time with Lin J and even her room mates made it extremely clear that it's really difficult to for freshman to get into the group.
Since she was only able to join the lab after solving a variation of a coding that only Lin was able to solve in the past, all her merits could get scruitinized if they knew that Lin and GXJ aren't just professional colleagues. Nobody cares about the truth after all right? 🥲🥲🥲

It still sucks that they had to hide everything just to please society but i guess it is what it is?😬

Equality in dramas- yes, there is still a long way for this to be achieved. I don't get why it's so difficult to achieve this - a simple story with a good partnership.🙊

I'm trying to recall a c-drama where the FL and ML were in equal footing lately but I can't think of any at the moment.😅
"Legend of the female general" kind of meets it since both the ML and FL equally suffered in their own way and they were so in sync but since people are complaining about it too, I'm not sure if it counts 😅
"Prisoner of Beauty" too i guess didn't go overboard ? The ML did go through more suffering but the FL and his dynamic was really good from what I recall.

TBF Blossom was a fantasy historic drama while SOOY is a modern drama if you remove timetravel. Perhaps the rules are more strict with modern dramas?

I don't think I've ever watched a modern Timetravel drama that had a satisfying ending 😅

If it helps, the MC is still together and they are young and dedicated enough to start over? Same with the others- GXJ can influence their lives again since she now knows their potential.

The only permanent terrible thing is Gao's faith i guess but I'm going to stay delulu about it 😬

How did the book end?

Oh my goodness this ending is not what I expected. I want bonus scenes. I want to see them get married and live…
He's a bum still obsessing about GXJ unless he struck gold within 10 days.

It's probably an incomplete episode for all we know 🙈

(Usual concept is 24 episodes but this having 23 episodes seems highly suspicious considering how it ended)

I totally agree with you on this! Usually when cdramas end, they anyway have a certain farewell kind of feel when the drama ends, but here you don't get that feeling at all. 🥲

I'm honestly surprised they were allowed to retain their memories at all so I guess this is better than waking up with no memories at all.

It was what I was expecting anyway (similar to Alice in Borderland S2). The only concern I had was Gao's faith. 🫠

Time travel is banned in China since it gives the illusion that you can change history.

In SOOY's context, they pretty much changed reality completely right? Right down to even stock investments and B&C's issues which didn't happen in ther original timeline. This is a HUGE NO-NO.

To bypass the ban, the writers probably added the coma thrope- so the whole story meets the "it's a dream" concept.

On the bright side, the MC have their memories so they will get together and they can start over since they are still young.

Someone suggested that the reason why we don't have the usual 24 episode concept here is because the final episode got banned. Honestly it makes sense.

You do make a lot of sense. Like the way they ended it with the brother for instance seems too random given what we know.

Shame we'll probably never know what happened in that last episode 🥲

Do they release deleted script scenes with cdramas like with kdramas?

Exactly! Honestly TT Cdramas have made me more empathetic 😅

I know i wouldn't feel this charitable if it was a kdrama or Jdrama but because you know what could have happened...it's difficult to get mad 🙈

Clearly the MC retained their memories so they will be together. The Second couple too end on an optimistic open ended note for those who care.

Lost hard work- TBF GXJ is still in her 20s- she can start again with a similar field if she truly wants it. Same with Lin Z. He's still a rich genius.

The brother too is from an ever evolving field. Knowing how determined GXJ is, she might help him out again. Same with TianTian too. Since she has Lin's support too, she could try to help her parents too with better investment ideas again (though it will be more risky this time).

Gao's 🕊 is the only sad thing honestly but since the drama didn't mention anything about him or the other side characters, we can be a little delulu right? 🙈

It's not thaaaat bad even if it was too abrupt. I was expecting a complete disaster for a minute there. Censorship sucks and I'm sure even the writers wished if things were different🥲

Overall the ending is fine if you don't overthink things.

Edit: one of the users suggested ep 24 might have not passed censorship screening- this does make a lot of sense. Guess we should be glad that we at least got 23 eps and use our imagination to fill in the blanks?🤔

You are not alone. I usually struggle with C-drama ratings on MDL for the same reason. It feels wrong to mark them as "dropped" even because the story was good until it got too meh during their dating era. I usually end up not adding them on my profile at all (unless the drama truly was annoying enough to drop).

With SOOY, right now the main reason I'm still around is because I want to know how they'll tackle the ending. It's good that we only have 23 episodes instead of the usual 30+ format. The couple is lovely though🙈

Gu Xue Jiao's brother is such a hopeless case… I don’t think the creators even know how his character works.…
Regarding school and lack of skills- The 3 repeat years were for his parents' benefit. They only listened to him after the FL intervened. Throughout the 3 years (or may be even longer) he has been secretly working on the skills needed for graphics or whatever he is doing now. That's why he is often caught sneaking around.

Based on ep 20, he's supposed to be known in the gaming/ digital community (can't recall which industry exactly)- i'm basing this on the fact that he was one of the guests/ hosts of GXJ's tech competition as well as the fact thathe told the Frenemy that he has many gold medals that he can share with her.

That being said, he really needs to work on his brotherly skills. He cares about GXJ but it's just barely there.

That's what I feel too? After the ex went through 2 accidents now (as ler ep 21's promo). For all we know, perhaps he got run over by a vehicle in 2024 too at the time the elavator was malfunctioning?
