Exactly! There was no resentment/ envy in her eyes even knowing the fact that her identical twin go to live with her parents whereas she was discarded due to a reason beyond her control. She seemed so well adjusted. That last text about how her adopted family taught her lip reading so it would be easier for her to navigate with her bio family if they ever reunite was just heartbreaking 💔

On Beyond the Bar Aug 16, 2025
Today’s case really dwelt into the stereotype that lawyers are “evil”. The fact that the team from Lee & So was already on the cusp of winning but their greed and cockiness was what caused their downfall was so fun to watch. Just hated how the female attorney was purposely being aggressive just to trigger the poor defendant.

On the other side, I just love how KHM’s fellow team members were so genuinely happy for her. You’d expect at least some kind of rivalry/ envy (since hearing Yoon praise anybody is equivalent to at least 1,000 stickers), but everybody was so giddy with joy 🤩

Lee Jin Wook is 43 and Jung Chae Yeon is 27, which is an age difference of 16 years, it would be better if they…
It’s not that unheard of though. Even in Encounter, Song Hye Kyo and Park Bo Gum have a 12 year age gap (and she was the CEO while he was a 1st year employee too). As long as the crew handles their romance arc tastefully, it shouldn’t be too much of an issue ideally - specially since in Beyond the Bar’s case, the legal team’s private life isn’t the main focus of the drama.

NGL there is something about him that stands out. His face (and sharp gaze) screams his thoughts out some how. He doesn’t need lines - you know when he is displeased/ amused/ up to something.🙊

We definitely will. They set the foundation in today’s episode so there’s bound to be some kind of confrontation/ reconciliation between the family (mother at least) at some point of the drama.

Yay , new episode ! and what a great episode it was. <3For me this drama became my ''Must watch'' Kdrama im…
Abandoning the sister due to her disability - the FL’s paternal family expects perfection (just like a certain subpar Ex) compelled the mother to give up her deaf daughter. That being said, the mother is held accountable too since she didn’t have to bend down to her MIL’s will.

In retrospect though, it was a good decision in a way considering how the FL ended up even getting dyslexic due to her family’s immense pressure. I can only imagine just how much worse they would have treated her sister if she had lived with her bio-family. The sister’s adoptive family clearly loved her enough to make her worry about her adoptive mum’s feelings despite her yearning for her bio mum after all.

Title Summit of Our Youth Spoiler
TBF they've been dating for over 2 years. Also they are upto something (see ep 16 last 5-10 mins or so)
I think it's because she doesn't want anybody to assume that Lin took her in because he liked her? It is sad that even years later she needs to go this far to proove herself but I kiiiiind of get it given that the other Lin kept finding excuses to kick her out of the team. Once the team finds out they are dating, at least one insecure team mate could use it as an excuse to undermine her talent🥲

Might as well graduate without having any malicious rumours floating around.

On another note, honestly I was surprised the parents understood the brother's hint- half expected them to exclaim that Lin's such a good senior to still tutor her 🙈

About the reclaiming sword scene, when I saw your comment before watching ep 24-25, I thought it would have been…
Seriously! It looks like HY will get to duel against HRF finally so let's see! I'm a little concerned I guess because if the confrontation is in ep 29, what will happen in the remaining 7 episodes 🙈

There's actually a limit on the number of costume dramas per platform per month right now? On what grounds? 😅😅😅I…
Personally I'm not really a fan of changing source material just to appease the latest social trend (one of the reasons why I switched to Asian dramas was because Hollywood was practically force feeding what they deemed as trendy/ woke- I'm all for diversity but not really a fan of replacing key characteristic as well as misrepresenting cultures).

I guess China's censorship gets more focus (at least here on MDL) is because the censorship rules with other Asian dramas aren't as obvious?
Take time travel for instance. Both Japanese and Korean dramas have creative freedom (or at least significantly more than C-dramas to the best of my knowledge) but with C- dramas, the crew has to go through so many hoops to hide it. Their reasoning for banning it in a way I guess is fair enough but to the vast majority, without context it does sound rediculous.

Then there's also their bans with LGBTQ+ entertainment in China vs. other Asian drama spheres. There are restrictions (legal or social) depending on the country but in China it's career suicide in certain case. So China being infamous for it's red tape even with entertainment isn't just a West vs. China thing since it's visible in the Asian community as well.

It's specially unavoidable when most of their censored dramas are based on novels that are available online. Once you notice the differences and find out why, China cannot avoid getting judged unfortunately.

For instance, the number of episodes limit- it ruined "Till the End of the Moon"'s success because they had to cut out so many scenes to meet the episode count to the point that viewers who were not familiar with the plot couldn't keep up at times.🥲

The West too should be held accountable though. That I agree.

Urm when was HY weak?
That’s just hilarious really. HY is strong willed but at the same time she isn’t made out to be some kind of super woman.

She works to the bone to get back her General title but at the same time she isn’t afraid to to learn how to embrace her hidden feminine side and is yet comfortable enough to admit her shortcomings (I mean she never backed down when all the ladies suggested different ways to win XJ’s heart but at the same time she was willing to admit to XJ that she doesn’t know how to be a woman).

NGL C-dramas have thought me to be more patient and understanding since most of the time, it’s possible even the team might not be that happy about the final outcome as opposed to what they could have done without having to worry about loopholes/ censorship🫠

Can someone hint what xiao jue tell the emperor though we all dont know it
Probably his suspicions about how similar both battles were and that the emperor shouldn’t trust HRF? They can’t really take action right now since it’s just speculation but it would explain why the emperor did not bother to even acknowledge HRF at all.

XJ also seemed relieved that the emperor gave him a chance so may be he was able to hint that HRF isn’t who he appears to be without risking HY’s identity (since it’s her choice to decide when to reveal her secret)?

It’s like Chu seems to have lost the plot 🤦‍♀️ Glad he acknowledged it too.
He doesn’t care if the world burns as long as he can give his mother eternal peace (questionable really since by his logic, the mum will be tortured if she knew how she got her eternal peace). Now that he is smitten by HY, he’s beginning to get more reckless. He’s bound to have some sort of delusional death at this point.

This is why context is important. This sounds amazing ngl🙈
Based on ep 29’s teaser it looks like they will try to humiliate HRF using the sword in another way. Wonder what’s in store.
