The girl is insufferable. She’s a qualified lawyer, licensed by the bar association and she speaks with an infantile affectation, sticking her lower lip out and almost faking a baby babble, using two hands to drink water 🙄 (bitch are you 3?!!) and switching it up with aegyo. In the Season 2 poster where Jung Woo Sung is holding a gun, it feels out of place. Prosecutors aren’t allowed firearms. Not in my country for sure. 😒I googled to check if this was the case in 70s Korea and it came back with the result I was expecting. Prosecutors aren’t armed officials. Weird. But maybe I’m reading too much into it. Maybe it’s a foreshadowing of the Prosecutor’s moral and/or ethical breakdown. He was always a slightly grey character anyway. Firm in conviction, but grey in his methods.

My advice for you is- before starting MIK season one and episode 1, watch Good News. I think it’s an important starter to get an idea about the era MIK is based in and what events it covers. I watched the movie Good News before I started MIK. And let me say, first of all, it’s hilarious and damn funny and so good. The way they have exaggerated the humour in the absurd real life events for comedy is fantastic. It’s so well done. But then when I started MIK episode 1, I swam through it with a smile on my face without any confusion. This tip is only for episode 1. Once you’re done with episode one you will have settled in nicely for the remaining 5 episodes. This is just a tip. But maybe political thriller / period drama isn’t your thing.
I am flabbergasted at the audacity of the writer and the director of this show. 😂 I want to be this confident where I get funding from a production house for such a half-assed work and then am able to hire Namkoong Min on the project and then I’m able to sell it to Disney. It makes me think back on all the times I put together a project overview and overthought it to the point of scrapping it before it ever saw the light of day.
Here’s a lesson kids (in the content and programming industry), aim high and far, even if you have AI slop as your script and a complete novice to lead the charge. Who knows, you might be able to hire an actor who is of the same calibre as Namkoong Min. 😃🤓
