Koreans really love to potray themselves as losers who never can get over anyone.Guy got rejected five years ago,…
that's what happens when a Wattpad level writer tries to write a serious character driven drama cloaked as a melodrama. half-baked, half-assed, and full of tropes and cliches. Lacks maturity on all levels.

I am currently watching this drama and I have to say Byun Yo Han is of course brilliant as the protagonist but ... Ko Jun.... his aura is everything. He is just crazy good

An unoriginal, tropey hot mess. The jealousy angle from the actress herself was a hard pill to swallow, considering her former flame (the director) has been very direct in shooting down her advances. While her current boytoy sits by her side while she is oggling and eye balling the director and passing pointed comments. Man doesn't seem to have a spine, and we are to believe he is the hottest actor in town. Then we have an old "first love" introduced, who seems mid at best. Meanwhile, the FL (who looks terribly old to be playing a 25 year old) has these bouts of aegyo that make you go cringe. Finally, Lee Jeha. He is like a weird guy. Isolating the lady from everyone, while lingering about in her orbit with mixed signals and lingering stares. You are her boss. You are coming across as a groomer. It's weird he had a fling with the actress of his first movie and then dropped her like a hot potato (cos he wanted to make different choices than his dad). And now he is suddenly getting drawn to this girl for no reason. We have been given no reason whatsoever as to why he has suddenly gotten the love bug because of this awkward dying girl.

Also, now we have to see a short version of mean girls unfold cos the veteran actress and the old college friend are ganging up on poor Lee Daeum, who has a perpetual tear hanging from her left eye as she smiles and swallows the bitter pill. While an agent chases her to the nth degree just to sign her cos in her professional life she has never gotten a rejection from a prospect she was trying to sign to the extent that she has hired a private detective. She wants to hire a talent who never got anywhere other than bit parts before this gig. If she was that great of an actress why didn't the directors who audtioned her for bit parts recognize her "beauty that most film directors want" and acting talent? Lacks inspiration.

Title Good Boy
Ep#7 & 8:

1. So, DJ keeps going on a punching spree while being in the police. All he does is fume, pout, be reckless and beat the bad guy every time he faces him. Not just him, but his whole team seems not to be doing their actual job of doing police work. But we have to keep believing the original premise, i.e. the guy is a good boy.

2. The romance insert - it is so unnecessary. The story would have progressed without it.

3. "Everything was planned. Everything from stealing the captain's gun to provoking Dong ju" a dialogue the FL says at about the 8-minute mark of episode 7. We are talking about professional police officers here—the so-called Avengers. The villain hasn't even done a big maneuver. Just basic thug stuff, and he has been able to jeopardize the future of this so-called "special" team completely. Also, what kind of sport has DJ been playing that he is unable to control his better instincts and can be easily provoked? A cartoonish mess. And all the team captain can think of, to save his team from getting disbanded, is his usual weird wrestling antics. What?!! Although his ways are so effective with the top brass and the police commissioner, he manages to prevent DJ from being let go. Wow! lol

4. All their crime arrests are like old-school Jackie Chan movies where the bad guys try to make a run for it but fail. They are running a fake passport peddling and burner phone business but they are simpletons who get caught easily. Simple criminals, like small-town folksie bad guys, providing bad comic relief.

5. Oh, just like the good Avengers, a team of 5, we also have 5 bad Avengers. 1 gal and 4 dudes on each side.

6. Let’s talk about the comedy, cos this is where the whole show is hedging its bets so far. Slapstick humour, people call it. It isn't good. There are no other words for it. Bad. Who was this drama intended for? For 1980s audiences? Or people with lower intelligence. It is loud and crass while trying to make any point, and still fails to sit in its own mess. I am dropping this, I don’t want brain damage from bad content.

7. The marketing juggernaut that this show has embarked on is embarrassing when you look at the actual product and the wasted talent.

8. Lastly, DJ and his recurring nosebleeds are reminiscent of Hae Jo and his 14 brain warts and nosebleeds. Wherever this is going, Good Boy is a spectacular failure and cannot be taken seriously even for its comedic value. Dropped with a loud thud.

It's not a slow burn. It's a slow rot. It drags and toils and coughs and hiccups, but doesn't do anything. 32 episodes!!! This story could have been wrapped up in 8 or, max 10.

C dramas aren't for me. Happy to stick with the 8-12-16 format of K dramas. I can't meander with an incessantly, needlessly repetitive storytelling style where we are just ringing around the rosies for only one plot point to unfold. It drops dead quickly. Quick Tip for those who still wanna believe the hype: forward at ease to avoid brain rot.

Well she is genz lol and for someone to die anytime her being openly expressive even tho it seems childish doesn't…
Don’t wanna sound ageist but here we go - let’s rip the bandaid, shall we. A 35 year old actress is playing a 25 year old 🤷🏻‍♀️ and yeah the character is gen-z but she DOESN’T look it. And that’s why her aegyo on steroids is … unsettling. It’s just so misplaced. The whole screeching on the stairs scene (when he is dropping her back to her hospital) where she is telling the void life is short and bopping and jumping around. Yeah… no. I don’t know if it’s the cliche riddled character that’s off putting or the whole character + wrong casting is killing the deal

So...when do we find out about the star of the show, the terminal illness? Like what is it?

I'm sorry, I can't stand the female lead. It's just cringeworthy. The gratuitous "Aegyo" is misplaced. It throws you off.
