Great article as usual! Actually, a while back you recommended to me A Tale of a Thousand Stars which I loved and it became my door into the rabbit hole that is thai bls... So thank you bor both. On the other hand, I have never recommended anything to my friends or family: when I mention asian dramas, I am met with rolling eyes, mocking laughter and dismissing sighs. So after a few attempts, I stopped talking about my hobby and when I am asked what I'm watching, I just mention a random rare US show of the genre they are not interested in!
Well, I almost have high hope for "Channel 3" tv shows.
You should! They did produce The Miracle of Teddy Bear, most certainly one of the best dramas (a lakorn bl really) out there so I want to watch everything they produce in the future!
"So prepare for an open ending for the first installment!" Netflix is really trying very hard to turn K-dramas into US multi season shows! You know, milking cow dry! It will be without me! Pretty article though. It was a nice read!
Love you review. It is well written and the reasons are well explained. This is everything I felt after only one episode! And then I dropped it shuddering in horror at how awful it is! Thank you!
As far as I know, there was only one translation (under the name Liefde Mecanica with 3 first chapters missing but otherwise complete!) available until recently on Wattpad but the translator's (New Beginning5 Aussi Saint) account has been shut. Have no regrets! In spite of a rather good translation the book is so awful, very toxic, unhealthy and extremely triggering: there is absolutely nothing likable in it. They toned it down for the series to an extreme extent!
Why should we? The real danger is people doing it in real life. This is not real at all. If there is an accident…
Ooops! Sorry! After watching countless K-dramas where drinking and driving is a HUGE NO NO (they smell a glass of soju and call substitute driver immediately!!!), I was surprised to see everyone here driving drunk! Different countries, different mores! Thais are getting more safety conscious though: in series from a few short years ago they were all riding motorcycles without a helmet. Nowdays they are all wearing one!
War, the actor playing Mark, was so much cuter in the original series. Here he's just a sulky, sad bundle of defiance...hope he mellows down! Funny, in the original series I prefered Mark but here I like Vee better. Edit: I should read comments more carefully: @Frankincese said the same thing just a few comments below!LOL
Perfection. An exception confirming the rule of the sequels: they are never good only when they are brilliant. And after I Promise You The Moon, we get another excellent drama (for adults looking for a coherent story not fans looking for fluff and steamy kisses) dealing with an established relationship and how to preserve it!
BTW: this must be binge watched! I get all the hate the people watching it weekly gave this drama therefore it definitely needs to be binged!
It's not that weird that a girl does nursing, why does she have to be in med school? It's more weird to me that…
Fine! You are right and I am wrong! I concede! I admit to being a bigoted idiot who does not understand how the world works(beside being a medical professionnal myself but that is not important here!). Thank you for showing me I had no understanding how the world works. I do appreciate you enlightening me on these issues and I shell go forward humbler and happier because of what you taught me!
Same here! This was one of the first dramas I watched when I discovered K dramas two years ago and I still remember it vividly! I never rewatched it but it is one of a very few dramas that left a lasting impact on me. And just like you, I did not like the second couple: they had no chemistry, she looked old and artificial(too much cosmetic surgery maybe!) while the artist was sexy as hell and their romance was unconvincing. On the other hand the main leads were perfect....I agree with everything you wrote! I wish more people wold discover this slow burn gem of a romance! Thanks for writing this review!!!! Perfection!
