The romance tag is definitely for ml and fl, so I wonder why 2fl is the one promoting the drama with ml on Nolto. Or maybe they're capitalizing on GSY's recent Blue Dragon Film Awards win/recognition.
From 6.2% to 12.1%. It's quite hard for a drama to achieve double digits on weekdays with all the variety shows, esp. since this drama is also available on a streaming site where many prefer the convenience of having no commercial breaks and watching on their own time. The rating is very much deserved with that good finale ep. Congratulations Yeonmo!
20/20 I liked the things they kept from the webtoon and the things they changed for the drama. The ending was proper and clear. It wrapped up well. As a sageuk, the fl is strong, smart and the main character that drives the plot as the crown prince turned king. As a romance, Park Eunbin and Rowoon's chemistry was good and the reverse cliché was entertaining. The fl being the hero and the ml as the love interest was refreshing.
Overall, despite my initial doubts because 5/6 of the mains are newbies, this turned out to be my favorite from kdramaland this year. Park Eunbin's acting alone makes this drama worth watching. Her 25 years of experience was evident. It was good to have her back in a historical drama, and Yeonmo was definitely worth the wait. Long live the King!
The latest reuters vid is so cute, though I probably shouldn't expect sweet scenes in the drama. If there's some, good, if not much, still fine. But my expectations for the wuxia and action is high based from the novel. Hoping the drama delivers.
19/20 and I like that fl didn't pardon Commander Jung just because he is her bf's father. But at the same time I didn't like how she apologized to ml for that.
It was nice to hear fl address and praise 3ml by his real name, because he too lived under a different name and life. Seeing him walk beside her is like Commander Yoon with the former king. It was also good seeing the siblings reunite. But the preview, I hope they won't take the remaining family she has from her. They can make 2ml the king without killing off fl's brother. But casualties are inevitable so I guess I should cherish seeing fl's brother, court lady, eunuch and bodyguard all alive before the last ep. tonight.
Lastly, fl was so cool from beginning to end esp. when she delivered the "Any man who stands against my royal guards will be considered a traitor!" line as a hero coming to save everyone. Happy or not, hoping for a good ending.
Can’t agree more. Although they both are young, they are both mature n focused. Very professional. Working like…
I don't follow c-celebs but because of this drama I've been hearing how professional and hardworking WL is. Same with LS, though it might not be obvious just by looking at her since she's bubbly but her interviews show she's mature with strong mental. So I thought they'd be able to play their roles well. Even the director was praising them. Indeed, the photos and teasers really made me have expectations. This drama is high up in my ptw list next year.
Regardless if true or not, I'm not surprised with the rumor of the leads being offered another drama together. I can already feel the chemistry from the few reuters, so how much more the people they actually worked with that had seen them in person.
The cast all looks good in the posters and teasers, but I would also like the hq of that cp shoot please, thank you~
My heart breaks for the king, Jung Ji Woon should have told her why. Also, I do feel sorry for the queen.
I agree. The least he could do is be honest with her after all they've been through. Instead he lets her misunderstand and get hurt. And even though fl couldn't tell 3fl yet, at least she comforted her. And it seems she will tell her everything herself next ep. which is important and better than 3fl finding out from others.
I think the writer doesn't want the Hwi to be a damsel in distress, that's why they're not giving Jiwoon any major…
The ml doesn't have to be a knight in shining armor to help her, there's 3ml for that. And he's already helping with the poison thing. But I atleast expected him to be honest with her after all they've been through. Communication. That's not gonna overshadow nor make fl a damsel in distress at all.
And I disagree, compared to ml who went back to his father and following his orders, fl's been gaining evidence, had dealt with the tax-rice-shipment-army issue and will face her grandfather head on next ep. All that while dating ml.
Because she is a good person. Making people fear her will make him just like his grandfather whom she despise.…
Yeah. But beneath that facade is a girl who was forced to where she is now. Having no powerful back-up and everyone dying, it's normal for her to feel scared. But she dared to investigate her grandfather and will face both grandparents head on next ep. She has a plan in mind and evidence on hand, hope she succeeds.
I know right!! The last episodes are gonna be bloody :((
I don't think 2ml's brother doing that is because of fl. Its probably the brother's way of proving to chief minister that he can and will do anything for the throne and to gain the minister's support by eliminating people on his way, even family.
Regardless of fl admitting or not, the secret will soon be revealed and casualties are inevitable, so facing it head on is better than waiting or running away. She has a plan, just hope she succeeds.
the first few episodes were very fast forward but now the last few episodes since her father died seemed draggy…
Because she is a good person. Making people fear her will make him just like his grandfather whom she despise. Its not that easy either, she doesn't have much people on her side compared to her grandfather that's why she needs evidence in hopes it will make people turn to her side without shedding blood. And its not like she's not trying, she had dealt with the tax-rice-shipment-army issue and continues to investigate. She's a new king, don't expect her to be as experienced and well-connected as the other older officials in court. Not to mention she grew up without a proper mentor, the og teacher was executed, she's afraid of her grandfather and her own father didn't even talk to her.
Most importantly, she has people she cares about. One false move and her court lady, eunuch and even younger brother will all lose their heads. Hence letting them go because she can't fight when they're around. Unlike his grandfather who is willing to kill anyone in his way, even family.
Do you think Hyun is really going to die? When Wonsan allegedly "kills" him with the sword, we don't see blood…
Reverse psychology maybe? Making viewers think he will die but actually he won't. The older brother also has experience in staging death before. Either that or 2ml is really gonna die.
18/20 Nearing the end but the ml is just... When others pointed out things he'd done in previous eps, I tried…
The preview... It seems fl will really tell 3fl everything. I hope she is worth her trust till the end. She's also facing her grandfather and grandmother, at the same time even. The scene between 2ml and his brother seems like the brother's way to prove to chief minister that he can and will do anything for the throne and to gain the minister's support by eliminating people on his way, even family. I hope ml's father gets the ending he deserves. No amount of "redemption" will make him look good in my eyes.
Despite all that, I'm still expecting the ending ml wished for him and fl, it's the "happier" version of the webtoon's ending. At the same time I'm also ready for a sad one as long as it's good and fits the story.
18/20 Nearing the end but the ml is just... When others pointed out things he'd done in previous eps, I tried to understand it was just him being in love. Even when he went back to his father, afterall blood is thicker than water. But his actions this week are just frustrating. No back-up plan and leaving fl to marry another woman, when he was the one who insisted on staying by her side in the first place. That punch from 2ml was deserved. Him being forced should've been the limit of him "understanding" his father. And the least he could do is be honest with fl. I'm sure she would've understood, but he didn't even give her a chance to do so. Instead he went with the route I dislike the most, the 'I'm doing this for you but I won't tell you so you'll misunderstand and get hurt'. He finally found out about his first love, but him running back to fl is getting repetitive. It didn't sit well with me that its the only reason he went back. So if Court Lady Kim didn't tell him, he's just gonna go on with his marriage? I used to like him loving fl regardless of gender, first love or not, but now I dislike how he just leaves and goes back to her whenever he likes.
Between the unrequited feelings of 2fl and 3fl, it's easier to feel sorry to 3fl. I thought she'd be the type to say the wrong thing to the wrong person because of how innocent and naive she is, but she did quite well this week. She said the right things at the right times and was never out of line. Even willing to cover up and allow fl to have a concubine of her choice. While it was hard watching 2fl being "nice" to ml's friends, the same people she threatened before for a mere pimple. I guess she needed to hear those words from feverish ml as a wake up call.
And I have nothing to say about 2ml, consistent best boy along with 3ml.
Lastly, our fl letting go of the remaining people in her life, Court Lady Kim and Bokdong. What she told them both was supposed to be an assurance but when her voice trembled, she also knew that death is waiting if she doesn't succeed. And she's ready for that end too. Pain.
