One sentence review

Record of youth = How you felt with game of throne series!
Writing more because MDL did not allow me to post only the above sentence.
Please feel free to ignore the below sentences haha

Starts off great and half way through you are thinking what the hell, why are they doing this and then at the end you will feel like why did they waste such beautiful cast on such crappy writing.
I was so excited and looking forward to this series and in the beginning I couldn't wait for the next episode and was cursing myself as to why I started watching on-air series (which I never do). Mid-way I was like okay, there are so many different directions this show can go so I was hopefully that show might redeem but then yeah.. IT DID NOT

Lot of issues with the story

This will be one of the unpopular opinion but here it goes:
The relationship started between TharnType starts with un-consented sexual advances from Tharn and no apologies from Tharn about it, Type punches and kicks Tharn (he does not apologize about that either), Type's language is hurtful and even after knowing he never changes his ways about that, P'San took advantage of Tharn when he was young and underage and he is still in touch with his family which is exactly what happens in abusive relationship, Lhong sends people to rape Tar but he wasn't punished, Tar's step-brother forced himself on Tar and the list of issues with the story goes on and on and on. They should add trigger warning for the episodes.
Somehow they show it is okay that even if your words are really hurtful, you use violence like kicking and punching to your boyfriends stomach it is okay, you make homophobic comments but do not apologize for it and that is okay and so on. It really sends out bad message.

Things I liked about show: It doesn't follow the usual cliche which is shown that in gay relationships one person needs to have feminine characteristic. Even though Type "fake"s break up and did not communicate the issue with Tharn, at least he had trust in the relationship and did not just "believe" whatever he sees. He analyses and trusts his boyfriend enough. There was some character development from Type and if special episode was combined here then it would have been better and I would have rated 1 point extra haha.. The acting is really good, when there was consented kisses: the chemistry between the leads was really good, OST was nice too.

Waste of time..

One of the worst c drama I have watched. Couples in this show don’t communicate openly, hide things from each other, don’t trust each other and keep breaking up for every damn thing. Mother of the lead actress is super overbearing. Only thing she wants is for Dilraba to get married. Oh my god how much she talks crap! She thinks her marriage is best but she just ignores her husband all the time. Lady get a life and stop bothering your daughter. She is 26 and she knows what she is doing.
The second lead’s parents are worst. They use the boyfriend for hospital work then they tell daughter to get married to someone else. What nonsense!!
The character Luna, is pathetic. She is a famous actress but she doesn’t have self respect. What are they trying to portray in this show?!?!
Why do people think chasing unavailable people good? When someone says no let’s break up and not interested, just move on. Chasing someone who isn’t available and doesn’t trust and communicate is not something to normalize !!
The second leads mom who is a teacher but holds such prejudice. As a teacher she should know that kids grow up and change and they should be treated as adults when they are adults. She still treats her son like he is a toolset and his girlfriend like her student. What the hell?!?’ Grow up lady. You are supposed to be an example to your students but if students follow your values then god save them 🤷🏻‍♀️🤦🏻‍♀️🙄
I don’t know how this show has 9 rating nor I can understand how this show was no 1 for long time. Please don’t watch this show
If you want to watch a fashion designer based and CEO type Cdrama then “Our glamorous time” is much better. At least they show trust and unity among couple and communication between them and how supportive they are to each other.

ONE OF THE BEST SHOWS: MUST WATCH

LOVE THIS SHOW!!!
The Netflix has to add TRIGGER WARNING to this as it will trigger a lot of people and in ways, one wouldn't expect.
I am going to write reviews to individual episodes so my review here will be shorter and doesn't contain spoiler.
I have been watching the show with a friend and I generally share with her my thoughts after every episode and she suggested I write it as a review. She said after reading my thoughts, she could connect things better in the episode so giving my first ever try in writing individual episode review.

This show is heavy so I can only watch 1 episode per day. It feels like I went to therapy for an hour and I am processing all the emotions after. Everyone, literally everyone from all the supporting cast to lead actors to folks who wrote dialogue and director and writer: DAMN!!!! such AMAZING job..
All have done such amazing acting and the emotions portrayed are on point. There should be more shows like this in all languages so that it reaches to many people and creates awareness about mental illness and wellbeing.

How diseases like hypertension, blood sugar and all needs medicine and also lifestyle changes to keep under control, this shows portrays along with medical professional help, environment/family/friends we grow up around have huge influence in how we can all heal.

Most shows which talks about mental illness usually don't show the illness per-se but these folks have done amazing job in-terms of showing how people suffering from mental illness "see" the world and "feel" or understand different emotions.

Such a positive message about healing is possible and we need to find our crew and stick to it and we can do it!

Ae-Pete :) :)

My rating of 8/10 is mostly based on the Ae-Pete story. Even though cliche of damsel in distress and save me from that story, their chemistry is beautiful. Pete being gay and having gone through tough times with that, tries to avoid confronting his feeling for Ae. But Ae is so open minded and accepting. Him telling that it doesn't matter boy or girl, I love you because it is you, is so beautifully shows that love is not gender based for him and he fully accepts Pete. Ae was so open and very well communicated from the beginning about how he felt. When he wasn't sure of he like Pete romantically, he told him but when Ae knew his feelings towards Pete, he was clear about that as well. And on my god! CONSENT!! (even in the novel) the number of times Ae asks for consent from Pete was very very refreshing to watch. They COMMUNICATE!! If they are jealous or have doubts, they talk about it rather than just sulking over that many many months. When Pete had issue with Champoo teaching Ae, he was sad but same day he told Ae and Ae told the reason and they sorted the matter. When Ae had questions about Pete and Tin, he asked. He did not assume they were having affair and broke up or anything like that. Also, Ae telling Pete that he hasn't told his family about them but he is ready to tell them whenever Pete wants. Both of them give each other space to express. Pete understands and tells that, it's okay. I understand that these things are hard so take time. They both are respectful of each other so much and that is such an amazing adult and respectful relationship. They are good for each other. Pete got courage to come out to his mom and be firm in his decision as Ae was encouraging him and for Ae. Both their character is so honest open and sincere. It is sad not to be able to see them in Season 2. Also Pond is a great friend. Even though talk rubbish most times, he is so accepting and supporting of his friend and a big shipper of Ae-Pete haha! We all need friends like him in our life haha

Now for the second couple: yes It is great to have the story of enemies to lovers but the first kiss was assault! You cannot go around kissing people. It is assault! Tin has painful upbringing and he is sharp on the edges and he doesn't trust anyone because of this childhood trauma. His character development is great and if he had not gone through what he went through in childhood he might have been different but I have to call out assault when I see one so! Can is cute. he is a great friend and he doesn't talk shit from Tin and calls him out. So yeah looking forward to season 2 with these folks!

Now for the other two KleNo and Thar-Tum: I don't even want to talk about rape and assault here,
If these two couple story was different or showed that what they did was wrong then I could have rated this drama 9-9.5 but because they seem to NORMALIZE rape and assault, i can't rate his show more than 8. If there was issue with Ae-Pete storyline and character, then I would have rated this much lower.

One of the beautiful C-drama I have watched

This is one of the best c-dramas I have watched.

What I did not like:
Male leads friend and vice president is always running behind and chasing after the male leads sister. Chasing someone isn’t super healthy and same for other couples in the series. Not very healthy relationships. Not sure when leads have such good healthy relationships, they showed other 3 relationships really bad.
Some of the building and everything is animation and it is super clear that it is fake, sometimes the background music doesn’t match the scene or is too loud and can’t hear the dialogues well and some of the hairstyles of female Lead and her assistant is really bad, they miss out on closing the loop about of them comrade of male lead.
The character Lisa, her acting is really bad.
It’s hard to make out the timeline in the sense of how many months or weeks had passed between the events in the show.

What I liked:
Good character growth for negative characters which shows that if people want to change then they can and it’s possible to have a healthy competitive coexistence in the industry.

You can see the chemistry between the leads and she is like a small kid in front of him. Even though there are couple of misunderstandings in the beginning, they trust each other and communicate with each other. They support each other’s dream. This shows how a relationship should be so definitely the #goals.
The relationship between female lead and her brother is also very nice! He is over bearing and sometimes steps over the boundary (which is very common in most Asian culture) but he really cares for her and wants the best for her. Just because he is over bearing, doesn’t mean the female lead succumbs to it. She stands her ground even it means she might hurt her brother. She doesn’t get sucked into the “guilt”. She shows that she is adult and she knows what she is doing and she will stick to it and he needs to respect it and come around. Male lead supports her well and makes her understand the brothers perspective but also makes sure to fulfill her wishes.

This is one the show where they show that female lead isn’t like good for nothing or someone from poor background falling for a CEO. She knows what she is doing and she is good at her job. She knows what she can do well and what she cannt and same with male lead. He isn’t the arrogant pompous who thinks he knows everything. When he does mistake, he accepts he made mistake and he explains why he did it and makes sure he doesn’t repeat it, which shows accountability and restitution. They are really sweet with each other and very healthy relationship behavior is portrayed. Seeing ZL acting in The story of MingLan and princess agent, I ended up watching this and really good choice.

Even though it’s long with 50 episodes, it’s definitely worth watching. I might re-watch it again sometime :)

Started watching for LDW and KR and fell in more love with both of them!

I have not watched any drama related to this kind of folklore so it was interesting story for me but felt like lot of things were happening and a little bit disconnected..
Plague in the show with all people dying reminded me of COVID 19 hahah also the negative character is not intimidating at all and I never felt like he is THE IMUGI where people should fear or whatever..
This show also made me think about risk-benefit and cost effectiveness of real life situations and have internal debate related to real life like one person decides one person is important and everyone else gets sacrificed so how is that fair? But also who am I to decide if the sacrifice was okay or not if as a adult they are okay with sacrifice but also what about all the people who did not have the choice?

I have always liked LDW and KR and their acting made me fall in love with them more.
As I like both of the actors and also never watching nine-tail fox folklore made me stick to this drama till the end!

Interesting story

Interesting and different story compared to other BL's I have watched.
But the the main lead (Pharm's) acting was really really bad. This show would have been so much better if someone else did the acting instead of Pharm. He was cute yeah but as a couple with Dean, there are no proper chemistry. The kisses were super awkward and it was seen clearly seen in his acting. The second couple kept me watching this show rather than main couple. The flashback couple had so much chemistry. Wish the flaskback couple was main couple.

One of the best shows !!

This series has been on my list for so long and finally I finished watching it yesterday.
This is one of the best family dramas I have ever seen.
I loved the way the story was narrated. I had started making columns with point system for Taek and Jung Hwan haha.. I was not convinced Taek would be the one till last 3 episodes as most pointers were towards Jung Hwan.. I know second lead syndrome is a thing but till now in any show, I have somehow leaned more towards the lead.. This is the first time ever that I cried buckets and buckets of tears and I even thought it's okay if they stay in polygamy relationship of 3 of them..
The friendship and close knit bond of neighborhood, neighboring being there for each other when own blood relatives won't. how they are all supportive of each other and instead of comparing and being toxic, they are such positive influence on each other families.
The series displays different type of family bonds, like sibling bond of each family is different and bond between spouses is different in each family which is very relatable to most of us.
I was reminded of my neighbors back home where I would spend time in their houses waiting for my parents to get back from work or how we exchange different food between each other during special occasions, how you can reach out to them and they are their for your family in time of need.
The series even talks about menopause and I was surprised as it is not a topic in any series I have watched. They even portray how Dong-Ryong mom was working women and after she retried she couldn't stay home, felt depressed and wanted to work. But there is no "looking down" upon each other and just supportive conversation.
I don't even want to start about the beautiful friendship 5 of them share and also Duk-Seon friendship with her 2 classmates. Taek asking permission before making move on Duk-Seon and knowing the choices he made, Jung Hwan not having any bitter feelings and saying go get her (was bawling my eyes out).
I am going to stop writing more as I can literally write pages and pages about how good this show is!

I had only one issue with this series that at the end they don't tell what Jung Hwan is up to in his life like where he is and whether he got married or do they all still meet, and about Dong-Ryong (did he end up being with Duk-Seon's other friend?) and what is Jin-Ju up to.

Contains spoilers and this is going to be unpopular opinion I guess

I know my review is going to be unpopular opinion but here it goes.
Almost all characters in this show is flawed and that is good in a way as we all humans are but I personally like drama where even if people are flawed, they realize things and change their way and there is growth and redemption in someway. Below are the things which is felt about the show and characters:
1. Knocks character: Knock has girlfriend but he goes drinking with two girls and Korn and initiates kissing with a girl but then both Korn and Knock are drunk and end up having sex but Knock is angry at Korn like he committed crime? They both were drunk, so it was equal fault but for him to act like it was all Korn’s mistake was getting on my nerves. His girlfriend doesn’t know what he is allergic to while all his friends know, Utah is a huge red flag and then he says it was Korn’s fault for treating her badly? Seriously dude, use some of the brain cells. Text her and tell. “COMMUNICATE”. She is different infant of instagram camera and offline, red flag and even after people telling that, he still does not understand and notice that? She does not spend time with him at all, red flag? She says she is coming at 5 but doesn’t show up till 7 so can’t he “message” her and tell hey it’s 7 and you are not here so I am leaving? Why on earth doesn’t he see all these red flags? WHERE THE HELL IS COMMUNICATION IN THIS RLEATIONSHIP or his relationship with Korn??? He has girlfriend but he kisses and sleep with Korn but then he hurts him again? Why on earth CHEATING is okay? It’s okay if you are confused, just be honest with both go them!! Even if Plren is mentally unstable person, you need to be honest in relationship!!
2. Korn character: He is comfortable with himself, straight-forward and honest. When Knock asked about Mew he told directly, no beating around the bush. He is flirty with Knock but he doesn’t cross the line. He confessed to Knock but he did no make a move until he Knock himself kissed first. Why is Korn with Knock when he doesn’t reciprocate his love and trust him and why is he going behind someone who doesn’t love him the way he wants to be loved?
3. Plern, Prae, Mikki character: Ladies, get a life. So clingy and pathetic. Plern is such a double faced character and manipulative and why on earth is she clingy to Knock? I still do not get it. If she want’s relationship only on the instagram then why can’t she find someone else? She doesn’t know her boyfriend is allergic to shrimp? She would have killed him. Even Yihwa being a friend knows that. How can someone “STEAL” an adult grown man? Dman, these languages in the show needs to change as people in real life also imitate and seek this way. And Prae changing her love interest from Farm to Bright? I am like seriously?!?!?! Mikki: girl get a life. You can’t stalk people!!! Not legal!! What Plern did with the “serum” is fraud but no legal action for that? All the stalking, manipulation and creepy ways to hurt people and at the end they are all still okay? I mean I know this happens in real life too but still you would want to see some justice.
4. Farm-Bright relationship: Don’t even get me started on that. My blood boils. I do not feel comfortable when there is Rape/non-consent and exploitation and abuse and assault and if I start to wrote about it, it’s going to be a huge article so I want to just say that Bright needs to be in jail and undergo therapy and reform himself and Farm needs to be in therapy to heal himself from the trauma.
5. Kavita-Phu relation: Phu, you need to take care of your mess? Why do people in this show, just push everything under the mat and not explain? He just left Mikki assume that Kavita was girlfriend based on photos and did not clear misunderstanding. He knows how things are causing issues for the lecture and still he doesn’t want to take care of his mess? He lied to her saying dropping out and kisses her? Seriously? There is no ACCOUNTABILITY in this show for lot of characters.
6. Yihwa: Solid female character, non-judgmental and supportive friend, extremely smart and without her, there wouldn’t be Korn-Knock. She is the kind of friend everyone should have in their life.
7. Fai: Again solid female character, smart, minds her business, good friend. We need more representation of character like Fai and Yihwa in all stories rather than Plern kind.
8. Plot wasn’t the usual damsel in distress or one of the BL couple needs to be more “soft” or “feminine” to be in the relationship. It was refreshing to see that change
9. Chemistry between Korn and Knock was really good and the intimate scenes were not awkward like some other BL series where you as a viewer start feeling uncomfortable because the actors aren’t comfortable.
10. Overall bad to okayish storyline. Acting and music was good.

I hate that most shows (BL/non-BL) start to normalize forceful kisses/sex/physical intimacy when it is clearly assault and rape or normalize stalking behavior or lying or cheating to fall in “love” or go behind someone who doesn’t love you the way you to be loved. You expect the other person to change but that won’t happen because they are being themselves and then the issues in relationship starts. Also no communication and trust is like a main theme everywhere.
Why can’t there be a show where people show communication skills between couples, trust, honesty and consent which portrays what a healthy relationship should look like.
