I made a comment yesterday that most of us have been commenting on the ML but the FL is also amazing. Without…
Thank you, cdramas usually focus on very devoted MLs who do everything but I like the relationship to be more balanced and the FLs to be just as proactive in showing their love with words and actions so the comments barely talking about her side gave me reason for pause.

How's the romance from the FL's side so far? I've noticed a lot of cdramas don't have this but I like both halves of a relationship to be equally devoted and in love and all I can tell from the comments so far is that ML is very into her but barely any mention of her actions/feelings towards him.

Thank you for answering, there has been a tendency for most cdramas lately to have unbalanced relationships with MLs who do everything and I prefer a more proactive FL who fights for what she wants.

May I ask how the relationship is in the novel? Is it both of them as in love with each other and equally supporting/taking care of the other or just mostly the ML as is the case for a lot of cdramas?

This is why I never trust dramas until they're over, even the most well written ones at the start manage to let you down at the end. Why do these writers think we want to see 10 second rushed happy endings for the characters we've been rooting for for MONTHS.

Title Tell Me That You Love Me Spoiler
As expected of kdramas, they end up together in the last 2 minutes of the episode. The thing is it doesn't even make sense because none of their issues were resolved ? Literally nothing changed, she still can't handle him being deaf and they will find themselves in the same situation...

He's the one who broke up with her but she's the one who broke his heart. He gave up on the relationship before she did because he knew it was just a matter of time and after being abandoned and feeling like he's not worth it by the people he loves, I don't think he could've taken it this time.

I'm happy for all the sisters and their marriages but the main couple deserved better, they should've gotten more focus in the end.

This is fantastic and I really hope it sticks the landing, Im Si hwan has always been great since I saw him in Misaeng and Lee sun bin should get more roles.

No, i think it's the exact opposite. I believe FL's are the protected species. ML's will get more hate than the…
You summed it up perfectly and as a woman who does not view herself as the FL or anyone in the story while consuming fiction but prefers to see two individuals who sacrifice and protect each other the same way, it gets exhausting watching these unbalanced relationships. Of course there are always romances where both people are equally devoted and I'd say here's to us getting more but the way this year turned out it seems we're heading in the opposite direction.

One of the things I love most about this drama is they said we were going to portray a feminist complex lead and that not only meant in terms of her career and life but also in terms of how her relationship with the ML felt like one of equals, she said I'm an adult woman and I'm going to work hard in my career but also be as dedicated to this man as he is to me and we usually only get the first half of that.

It's been a very long time for me that an Asian drama has left me feeling this way! This drama touches my heart…
Exactly, why are female leads like her so rare nowadays? I don't even care who chases who first but it sure would nice to at least see both parties making the same effort towards each other once they get together.

Usually this is always the way with k series.. Guys would be shown more proactive.. Than girls.
I've always thought kdramas had a nice balance in their relationships but this year it felt like that wasn't the case at all for a lot of shows and cdramas are even worse.

This year, the vast majority of romance dramas imo felt very uneven because instead of two equally in love committed individuals making the same effort to support and care for each other we got a lot of MLs going above and beyond with FLs who rarely showed the same devotion, so it's such a breath of fresh air so far to see such a proactive female lead.

Really???
I'm confused as to why they wouldn't actually show us the LITERAL leads happy ending, a lot of cdramas do this, is it a censorship thing? Where certain storylines have to end very vaguely to be able to air?

I'm really liking this show and I know we have a third of it to go but what is it with dramas lately and couples where the male lead is the one making all of the effort, what happened to equal relationships where two individuals are just as in love with each other and are both showing it with actions and words?

Yeah unfortunately c-dramas still have a long way to go in terms of writing good FL roles. But even taking that…
That would not surprise me at all, yeah I don't get it, a writer/director telling love story should at least attempt to craft a balanced relationship of two equals trying their best to support each other. Instead a lot of dramas feel like a 13 year old girl's fantasies of romance and prince charming.

Yeah, there are some wonderful female characters but there seems to be a lot of attempts at "strong" female characters without trying to just write first and foremost well written complex characters and it translates into feeling like someone is trying very hard to convince me of something that is just not present in the storytelling. with having characters constantly comment on it. And since most cdramas are romances, this also manifests into unequal relationships where the MLs seem to the ones doing all the emotional and physical labor and Idk why but this year it felt particularly prominent.

I'm just trying to imagine if the roles were reversed and how people would react to the ML treating the FL like that. This drama had a lot of the same issues i struggled with regarding a lot of shows this year, a lot of lip service "she's smart she's strong" without anything to actually back it up in the storytelling and as an extension of that relationships where you felt like one half was doing most of the work, emotional labor and concessions.
