is it just me but i kinda wish there was no hinted love interest for the Ml at least for the beginning. I just…
I think no one likes poorly written romance in these shows. ๐ It's as if they find the worst tropes and just drown us in them. But so far, I think the one with BDJ will be less cringeworthy than the one with YDZ. I will take love at first sight because someone is soooo good-looking over the star-crossed/childhood connection trope. ๐ฅฒ
Is there a lot of heavy romance? Iโm more interested in their friendship than all the lovey dovey stuff.
Unfortunately, we will have to deal with some romance, as we will see the children of some characters in TBOY. Romance also plays a role in influencing one character's actions according to the stories about him in TBOY. Personally, I dislike romance in this kind of drama because it is often poorly written, and I prefer to focus on friendships. However, since one of the tags is "slight romance," I hope it remains minimal.
Only solace I have is even in TBOY none of the main characters spoke ill of Ye Dingzi. Maybe losing love of his…
Yes, because he realised how many evil things he had done and was unable to forgive himself. I suppose that was his form of redemption, acknowledging his previous mistakes. In a way, maybe it is better that we know his ending so we can prepare ourselves. The actor is quite good too. And the academy arc is quite fun and light, so let's not think too much about the inevitable ending ๐ ๐ฅฒ
they dropped the ball on S2. total disappointment ๐
Unfortunately, so many shows lose direction toward the second half. After the dream sequence/illusion, I had had enough. The culprit didn't even make any sense at all. I don't even know how I managed to finish, but I guess after waiting for one year, you find a masochistic strength to watch something you don't like anymore ๐คฃ
It's so difficult to keep track of all the characters appearing every single moment. ๐ At least thanks to TBOY, I remember who the main ones are storywise, but then again because of TBOY, I already know how they're going to end up. ๐ By the way, I wish they would make an RPG game from this show, it really feels so playable! ๐คฃ
Putting aside some weird plot choices, pairings, timeline issues, and generally strange world-building... why is there almost a total lack of visual fantasy elements? Sometimes, even with centuries passing by and the presence of Chubby and the little fox, I completely forget that this isn't a story about normal humans.
She never saw him as her first choice, never made him believe she could love him back. Instead, she only deepened…
He can't, as he's the ML in a reverse harem. Remember the rule: they either die or love that one and only woman forever ๐. All the characters are severely broken and need centuries of heavy therapy before entering any kind of relationship, to be honest ๐ ๐. XY and CX have the most serious issues, and TJ too. Actually, XL is maybe the most normal if you think about it.
Going back to love, XY did find a TJ (if you can't find a therapist, find yourself a 100% giver to heal; it will make you a toxic person, but hey, in this story, that is true love). XL could have found his TJ to heal his traumas. Unfortunately, he's another ML in a reverse harem. At least he's free from this story now and can rest in peace in our hearts๐
As much as I was not a fan of Jing soggy noodle, can we really hold it against Xiao Yao for choosing him? I mean…
She never saw him as her first choice, never made him believe she could love him back. Instead, she only deepened his feelings of inadequacy. They had chemistry and many "what ifs," but that was it. Even the bugs showed him how she felt for Jing, and he never considered that anyone could love him like that. On his side, he did all the wrong things in her presence, hiding his feelings and good deeds, and treating her badly to conceal even more. They were always doomed to remain in those "what if" moments. Whatโs frustrating is that this is a reverse harem story where all the male leads exist just to love that one woman in an obsessive way. Their only outcomes are to die or to forever suffer loving her from afar. They never get the chance to meet someone else and move on, like in another novel or story
XL's obsession with committing suicide with the army through ALL of the drama started to really get on my nerves after a while, and I just wanted it to be over. However, when it finally happened, I did feel bad for him. Many people wanted him to end up with FL, but I didn't. Even though he loved her, she wasn't the right person for him. They both had too many issues and didn't fit well together. Because these days I'm sentimental, if i were the author of the novel, I would change the ending by writing another story where XL survives and finds someone who truly cares for him. This new character would help him brake down his walls and show him that he can be loved in return, as he really never gave himself a chance. It wouldnโt have to be as intense as Tushan Jing's love; itโs better if the other person has their own desires outside of the relationship ๐
Just started first ep., the fights, CGI, humour and charactersโ set up are all in good pacing.๐ Enjoying…
So far, so good! I'm just so happy to finally have something good to watch! Lately, every drama I wanted to watch seemed good on paper and in the trailer, but was terrible once I started watching the episodes. This one didn't disappoint ๐ฅน Youku subscription just renewed ๐คฃ
Thanks for your review. Was thinking of starting this as the synopsis seems interesting, but couldnโt finished…
I just saw it on Viki and went to read the synopsis. After seeing that the FL will have amnesia, I already knew she would be an idiot. I came here to read a few reviews, and it seems that is the case. ๐ฅฒ Probably considering the amnesia trope to dumb down the FL, I guess there will be a childhood connection/sweethearts trope too. It just gives off those vibes
From ep 1 to 15, there's literally nothing intriguing.๐คจ๐คจ
Unfortunately, plot-wise, there is not much of a plot. I tried my best to enjoy it because of the main actors, but no. I do not have enough free time to waste, even on a filler drama. Hopefully, their next projects will be better. On the positive side, some people still enjoy it, so it is not a complete flop for everybody
I just watched the first episode and was already starting to get annoyed with their lack of survival skills. Like, how did they even live until now without getting killed without the power of the pendants? ๐ But then the underwater kiss/breath of life/air made me cringe so much I had to stop. I know it is low budget, etc., but do you think it is worth the time considering there is nothing else to watch? I'm also kind of watching Princess Royal on and off.
Is this like a star-crossed lovers trope? Because it would have taken too much imagination to write a love story from scratch, so they just had to have feelings for each other already. Otherwise, they didn't know how to make them start to care for each other, or how she would survive without him caring for her. I didn't know what to watch these days. I tried different dramas, so I decided to just watch something short. However, the female lead is so wishy-washy. By the way, for a woman who came to the palace to use her body to get what she wants, she doesn't look very determined in her task. At this point, wouldn't it have been better if she were a fighter and dressed as a male to be a palace guard? ๐ ๐ Why did she have to be a concubine, and why does she look like a deer caught in headlights 99% of the time? ps. ML needs to be punched over and over again. I doubt she will ever do it.
Going back to love, XY did find a TJ (if you can't find a therapist, find yourself a 100% giver to heal; it will make you a toxic person, but hey, in this story, that is true love).
