I had this one on my list, but because of a lack of time, I didn't have time to watch it. I had read some spoilers unwillingly and am now unsure whether to watch it. My question is about the dream sequence.

No, as it is prohibited to make those shows in China. But the main character in the novel did transmigrate into another person's body. In the drama version, she just took the identity of another girl.

XFF is officially dead. There is only JL identity now. He would not go and declare that he tried to kill his wife, but she is still alive as somebody else.

You called the mother evil, which is part of black-and-white morality. I just used your parameters. I don't believe either that everybody is inherently evil; that's why our sleazy coward is crying and living in paranoia. That doesn't make him less guilty or less disgusting. I will never point it out enough. He chose to let her wake up in a hole in the ground, tell her that her family was dead, and then proceeded to hit her with a shovel and bury her alive. Of all the ways he could have killed her, he chose one of the worst. People who have sympathy for him blame the princess for everything and see him as a victim, which he is not because he chose this path. There is a limit to how much you can be influenced by others; there is a line when you cross that there is no turning back. And the real victim came and gave him a choice, and he said no.

This is a very simple and straightforward drama about revenge. It has great chemistry between the leads and an interesting female lead. The villains are not great or on the same or similar level as the leads. They may hold more power, but in reality, they are not too challenging so far. And that is the story. It is nothing more than that, but for what it is, it is great. People do rate shows based on their own personal likes and dislikes. Very few go into technical details about everything, and they rate depending on what is important to them and can be completely opposite to what is important to me or you

That is not love—no love for his family or his wife. Whatever that thing is in his head, in fact, it is not love. Some people do not know how to love or care for others. He had a choice, a choice he did not give to his wife, a choice that his father and brother-in-law did not have. There were so many different choices he could have made when he met the princess, and he made all the wrong ones. And when he did, he became a monster, just like the princess.

He loves her in his own way. Is that really love in reality? No.

Zhang Zhe is what Shen YuRong wanted to be, but he failed miserably because when he had the choice to choose the right path, he didn't. Even when presented with the possibility of some kind of redemption or punishment, he still played the victim card. Very different kinds of people, but I guess they both started as scholars who wanted to do good

I don't understand the complaints, as, in general, this story was quite simple. Every time there is a problem, it seems the FL is losing and doesn't know how to react, etc. Then she just comes out on top of it as she has already predicted all the possible scenarios. Maybe she didn't expect her brother to be alive, but I'm sure the story will quickly unfold in her favor now that she is going to be actively involved as a pawn in the emperor's and duke's plot. And let our villain think for a few minutes that they are going to win before they come crumbling down. From the promos, it seems the emperor and duke are pretending to be at odds over JL, so I guess not only are they trying to trick the princess but the writers are trying to trick the audience with these trailer cuts.

It is surprising how many people fall for his displays of guilt or remorse over her death. Yes, if he did not feel any, he would have been a sociopath or a psychopath. He literally murdered/tried to murder someone whom, at some point in his life, he said he loved. Like, yeah... that's a normal human response, even if it only comes from the fact that she reappeared alive in front of him. She even gave him a way to repent, even if he is not worthy of it, but of course, he didn't take it.

The more I learn about the wife killer's reasons and motives, and the more I understand the princess's motives, the more I find myself hating them both. There is literally nothing they could show me from the past that would give me an ounce of compassion for them; it just triggers me more.

Definitely. I don't think anyone can truly come between the duke and the emperor. And XFF/JL said she is ready to be a part of the grand scheme. Also, the princess is foolish; she has her influence and power, but none of it comes from her intelligence. Now, JL is an active pawn in the emperor's and Duke Su's plan, and she said herself she is not a liability anymore. She will have to retreat a bit to save her brother and will play the game, making the princess believe that she is out of options.

She is there of her own accord, willing to be used as it aligns with her desires for revenge. It is a two-way game; they are all using each other. As for Consort Li, I have this feeling that he intends to get rid of her, along with all the people he wants to cleanse the palace of. Just like with the princess, he cannot simply decide to get rid of her. That's why he and Duke Su are doing what they are doing. And I am sure that whatever conflict there will be between these two, it is going to be a ruse. But let's wait and see; trailers are always very deceiving.

Yes, I always wanted something like this. With a slow burn, you don’t get all those boring tropes used to keep the two lovers apart to add drama: like star-crossed lovers because of some dispute between their parents, amnesia, illness, misunderstandings, self-sacrifice... I’m getting annoyed just writing it.

I'm sure she will come up with a plan soon enough, as she once said, sometimes you need to retreat to advance. Her priority was to keep her brother alive (it was a matter of seconds to decide based on the trailer), so she had to act that way at the moment, but I'm sure she will overcome the problem. The princess has power, but she is foolish and unhinged, she is nowhere match for JL/XFF 🤭
