I feel like in the last few episodes, they cheapened the female villains, making them caricatures of characters. Instead of showing us some morally ambiguous characters with their own motivations that make sense, the princess is just some crazy, infatuated woman with no character outside of that. The stepmother was supposed to be some intelligent, calculating woman caring only for herself and her most closed ones, but no, she is just blinded by hate for no reason, and obviously, she has a past that can be used against her in the future.

She already had that maiden waiting outside as a witness. How did no one find it suspicious that she knew she would be accused by the princess, and why did no one find it strange?

I'm a bit confused by the writing in the episode when she gets accused of being XFF.

I couldn't get past the first episode of the FSM. I guess it doesn't get any better. 😅 I don't like the premise of the relationship between the main leads,🫤 and in general, it just looked better in the promotional posters and trailers. As for this drama, give it a few episodes, and you will know whether you like it or not straight away, but you need to watch more than one episode as the tone of the show is not always as serious as in the pilot episode.

So, he is not only a cowardly man but also sleazy, making his way up by using women and probably justifying whatever he is doing along the way and blaming all of his shortcomings on others.

I always thought that he purposely seduced XF when she was young and naive because he wanted to climb the social ladder, so he used her. After they went to the capital, he met the princess and realised he could use her too, but then he couldn't really control her as she is too unhinged. So in a way, I guessed a bit right. 😅

Yeah, I prefer those kinds of punishments too. Death is too easy for them.

I suppose it is a satisfying demise?

It was a delicate situation, and only those with a real foothold in the palace dared to intervene and survive. (if you are talking about the banquet after the school competition when the princess came to bully JL)

I'm still confused about their sickening relationship. She is obviously his backer in the palace and his lover. She sometimes seems obsessed with him, and sometimes she seems willing to get rid of him. As for him, he likes his power enough to stay in the capital and kill his wife instead of just running away with his family. They are two disturbing individuals. Even if they turn on each other, JL will have her revenge on them; I can't wait. I hope there is no redemption arc before their demise because they are not worthy of it.

He just doesn't seem that Machiavellian, just cowardly... but it would have been a great twist if they hadn't shown him crumbling from guilt or whatnot in private. I think that he is getting annoyed by the situation, so he might do something eventually.

Hopefully, she can have control over her emotions. She was barely holding on when she saw her father broken from the torture, but she managed not to crumble completely. I would have; it was just too much. 😭

Can't say if he knows or doesn't in the drama. But regardless, before killing her in that awful way, he had to tell her that all her family was killed, just to make sure she suffers extra. Even the way he offs her is so cruel and horrible. Not even a quick death in her sleep

I think the drama will be toned down 🤔 I don't know, it just feels that way. I hope not.

He was the one telling her the fates of her loved ones before shoveling her on the head. He is a compulsive liar and eternal victim, not just a murderer

As you said, the show is well-written, so it does feel incongruous as it does not quite fit with the rest

Nothing her husband says can be trusted anyway

A'Li was her nickname too, thats how her family was calling her

Or when the childhood connection trope comes up, that's when I just switch a drama off 😅🤣
