I choose to forgive. I never said I condoned his actions. Nor did I say the victims needed to forgive. That's entirely up to them. I understand them so if they choose not to, so be it.

What's the difference if we as a society decide to forgive? We are human, we have every right to decide whether to forgive or not. Regardless of the victims choose to or not.
