Honestly, it was a very difficult situation. LBY's proposal + asking for the emperor to act as his 'elder' to seek the hand of marriage left CSS' parents without a choice but to accept it. If they didn't and they tried but had to tread very carefully, they would be charged with defying the emperor's order. So they tried to get the emperor to rescind his order by saying all terrible things about CSS so that the emperor would 2nd guess the decision. However, the emperor doesn't care as much as whether he thinks CSS is a proper bride to be, LBY's choice matter above everyone else. You can say that LBY is smart in doing this in front of the emperor so that CSS' family didn't have a choice but also confident that CSS will agree. There was a moment where he was so sad hearing how her parents object to the proposal. But as we all know, just because a proposal is granted, things can happen and marriage doesn't happen. At this time, CSS still doesn't have romantic feelings for LBY and it will be a treat to watch how he wins her heart. He's just got her hand for now...

We are going to get scenes where the Queen bonds with CSS and she finally gets what a mother's love should be like. Just the first meeting with the Queen, the Queen liked her for being true and honest. Sad part about CSS's mother is not seeing CSS's beautiful personality and would rather prefer her cousin who is so meek and silent that you often forgot she was even standing there.

I think that LBY didn't care if what her mother said was true. What mattered to him the most, he said it clearly to everyone as a giant "so what? So what if she is rebellious and unteachable. She is the perfect match for me! Me!" That's what really matters.

They literally drove CSS away when he just wanted to spend some quality alone time with her. To think the guests uninvited and then insult the only person he cared for, he could of said worst things.

Maybe it's Cheng Yi's 11th reincarnation (following Love and Redemption) but with Yang Zi and not Crystal Yuan, haha. I wonder if there is any elements of Ancient Love Poetry.

I'll add that Yuan Shen's character is not new. He's very prideful and he's used to having a flock of women chase after him. CSS is the opposite. She doesn't even give him a starring moment that that's what irks him. He barely knew her and yet, he wanted to court her. CSS has seen too many prideful men and women that Yuan Shen doesn't even stand out.

They are splitting it into 2 parts as well. I read it's somewhere between 40-60 episodes?!

Getting Love and Redemption vibes again

This will surely save us from the sanity of waiting for new episodes of LLTG and the part 2..

ZH is a victim. She chose the wrong husband. She paid a heavy price. She can't be responsible for her husband's betrayal, disloyalty and ruthlessness. If her family didn't approve of the marriage, you think she would of married Prince Xiao? Plz, it's victim blaming. It's saying that if she didn't do X, Y, Z then tragedy wouldn't have fallen on her. Kudos for the director/writer to having her exact revenge.

To survive such a family, you need a really supportive husband who actually has standing. Take Ming Lan... GTY did his own thing even though his stepmother was scheming every second of her waking moment and driving the married couple crazy with her schemes.

tbh, even LY's older brother is passive. He had an opportunity to be recognized by helping LBY but instead, for fear or whatever, he decided to just continue to be humble...so humble..

It was so beautiful when they were united as a front and those slaps were spot on.

It's survival. The earlier episode where she witnessed her mother?!'s death was brutal. Not a squeak from her when you can see if not for trying to protect herself and her brother, she would of lunged out. Lou Yao is not a suitable suitor for any available bride to be. He has no standing in his own family. You cannot count on him to protect you. Sure he may be devoted and kind but that can't carry you through the hardships that is to come. Someone like Zhan Jun is not going to put up with BS from those elders in Lou Yan's family.

See now it validates me and for others that her drama opinions are so garbage. A beautifully scripted drama like Ming Lan with some of the best verbal arguments ever on tv is hated.

Can't agree with you more. He's such a handsome hunk as Ashile Sun. I personally love the half braids and long wavy hair. I don't like his hair up like that in LLTG but I generally don't like that hair style for any of my fave male actors. There are short scenes where WL's hair is down here in LLTG and I can't wait for those moments.

She criticizes things that an average viewer wouldn't either care/notice but because she elaborates on it, it makes it sound like it does matter. I definitely don't go by her viewers. I wonder what she thought of Ming Lan. Feng Shao Feng was absent in many full episodes yet so far, WL is here and there and we can see as the story progresses, it's gonna be heaven for our eyes.

The last scene in ep 20...doesn't look right. It looks like it was shown as part of the trailers but when ZLS suddenly turns and is into WL's chest, WL is shown to be completely startled by this. It looks like the same scene but it's not shown in ep 20. Same outfits for both. I stand to be corrected later on if there is a similar scene down the road but I am very doubtful. I don't know why they cut that scene out.

Going to be a loong 4 days. Hate these 3 days a week airing schedule. Nearly died when it was WRTW until they added an extra day in the last couple weeks of the schedule. Painful.
