Title I Am Nobody
It's my fault for not reading comments and tags/genres, but I didn't expect comedy ๐Ÿ˜ญ
Still, I'm gonna give it a chance. I may end up liking it after all.

the plot didn't really do it for me either. my biggest issue is that there were so many high stakes moments that…
I get what you mean.
I usually like character driven stories and I love the feeling of connecting with tragic characters and being heartbroken because of their fate, but for some reason it didn't work for me here. I suspect it may be because of all the slow scenes, in the second half of the series I was just like "GET ON WITH IT" whenever they used slow motion and their conversations kinda became repetitive.

But still, I liked it. I just wish I was heartbroken in the end, like they intended me to be ๐Ÿ˜‚

I was really torn about how to rate this drama. Visually, it's gorgeous, it has a great soundtrack and a talented cast (not to mention, they're all incredibly attractive!). The fight scenes are well-choreographed, and the special effects are flawless. However, the story itself didn't captivate me as much. While there were some interesting and engaging elements here and there, the overall plot failed to keep my attention. Additionally, there were so many "slow" scenes that I ended up watching half of the series at double speed, and even then, it still felt too slow. I understand that the intention was to make it more dramatic, but personally, it just didnโ€™t work for me.

In the end, I rated it 8.5, even though I was leaning towards 9 as well. What ultimately decided it for me was the fact that I didnโ€™t emotionally connect with the characters, and their fates didnโ€™t touch me emotionally. Which is sad, because everything was so BEAUTIFUL.

But at least I discovered Neo Hou, he was such a great choice for Zhao Yuan Zhou. I can't imagine any other actor in that role after watching this.

Wow, thanks for writing all of that. I'm also a new fan, I guess (just started getting into him), so I find all this info super interesting.

It's unreal how beautiful he is in Fangs of Fortune, especially in his demon form. They really outdid themselves with his styling.

I'll have to watch some of his other works to compare ๐Ÿ˜

He did so well in Fangs of Fortune. Very pretty, has a nice voice and can act well. Fingers crossed to see him in more (main) roles in the future.

That conversation between Mariko and Ishido in ep. 9 had me screaming. She's such a queen!

10/10 as far as I'm concerned. Great fighting scenes/swordsmanship, visually stunning shots and good story with great actors - I couldn't ask for more.

Title Kill Me Love Me Spoiler
They rushed to make a sudden attack and kill off as many enemies as possible.
I'm aware that this is a drama and they need to make it dramatic instead of realistic, but that was the stupidest thing they could do. They literally run outside to be slaughtered, some of them didn't even have proper weapons and the attacking army was ready for battle, there was no possibility to catch them off guard when they're beneath your walls.

(I'm talking about the first attack btw, not the one led by Jinghe later on. There was some logic behind that one)

The ending itself wasn't bad, but I didn't like ep. 24-30 so I'm gonna rate it 8. Liu Xue Yi's as Jinghe was amazing. I also like the actress who played Zigu/Concubine Yan. Her character was kinda annoying, but the actress was really good. Her acting felt natural.

Anyway, I don't regret watching it, but I wish they did something else with those 7 episodes towards the end.
Also, the defense of Qingzhou was kinda laughable, why would the unequipped army rush outside to meet the enemy instead of staying behind the walls. That was so dumb ๐Ÿ’€

I'm so over this FL, she's just dull (ep 23-29). I wish she would show either love or resentment/hatred for ML. He's at least suffering and you can tell he loves her, but she's just indifferent....so why should I, as a viewer, care about their relationship when she doesn't? ๐Ÿฅด

I really don't like how they handled the whole 'Shadow Works' (or whatever the name was) revelation and how it affected their relationship. It could've been done much better.

That's true. I loved the drama because I love the original story, but I can definitely understand your frustration.

Yeah, nothing has been said about S2 and this was filmed a few years ago so I think chances for S2 are slim (which is weird because they added some things to the plot that weren't there in the original and then just left them unfinished, so the S2 may have been planned in the beginning).

sad ending?
Yes, sad but hopeful. Everyone ends up miserable or dead, but one of the boys returns to the past to save all of them.

I was really enjoying the show but wtf was that ending? Are we going to get next part or this is it? If it was…
It was watched and rated mostly by people who are familiar with the original story and know what happens next. In that sense, it's a really good adaptation. For those who aren't familiar with the original content, I agree, the ending doesn't make much sense.

You may have already seen the explanation, but in the end Hwan returns to the past with the intention to save all of his friends. As for S2, I don't think it's happening, but the continuation of the story for those who are interested can be found in Save Me webtoon and The Notes novels.
