Is the main lead romantically involved ?? I don't like bL drama that why I'm asking
In the original novel they are, this adaptation is censored so you can choose to see it as a bromance if that's what you prefer. I watched it with two other people and neither of them thought it was BL (they probably don't even know what BL means tho 😂), but they loved it nevertheless.
Open, so basically it all depends on your interpretation. From what I've seen the opinions are split. I personally choose to see it as a happy ending 😂
so true like i don't understand why people are hating ._.
Unfortunately, I changed my mind by the end as well. The first half was good and kept my attention, but later the events started unfolding like on an assembly line, with no emotional impact on me whatsoever. Everything felt somehow superficial and shallow. I think the last 6 episodes were the worst in that sense, or it may be that at that point I already lost interest.
Update after ep. 50. Okay, they managed to fix what looked unfixable. I cried for two episodes straight but I…
They didn't end up together. FL had a child with ML's brother who was the emperor at the time, and when he died she refused to have an affair with ML because of honor and her son. She stayed close to ML tho. Later, when issues (over power) between ML and her son became serious, at first she decided to support her son, but when ML almost died she decided to finally be with him. They reconciled and were supposed to leave the capital and live together, but something happened and ML died while protecting her son, the young emperor.
Anyway, as for their relationship. I can't call it either healthy or toxic. It wasn't toxic, but for the most of the drama they weren't able to be together. They supported and helped each other secretly but didn't act on their romantic feelings. Later it became a bit toxic when FL's son got involved, and in the end ML died before he could finally leave the capital and be with FL, the one he loved his entire life.
I wouldn't say it's perfect, but the story is interesting and I like the main characters. Fighting scenes are…
Also, the guy who plays Tang Lian, I watched him in several other dramas but this character design suits him so well. He wasn't this attractive in any of his past roles (that I've seen).
I wouldn't say it's perfect, but the story is interesting and I like the main characters. Fighting scenes are also good! I finished 21 ep in two days. I'll have to take a break for two weeks tho 😭 (starting new dramas before your trip is NOT a good idea)
I couldn't sympathise with the mother character. Yeah, she had a tough life and traumatic experiences but she didn't need to abuse her son in order to make him a prosecutor. Beating him after he got into a fight with his bully, always keeping him half hungry so that he can study more, never letting him enjoy ANYTHING?!? You don't have to make your child's life miserable in order for him to become "someone". And the way they tried to excuse all of that 🙃. The only good thing is that in the end she realized she was a bad mother.
Aside from that, I liked the drama. The acting was good and the story as a whole would've been great had they not tried to excuse abusive behaviour. The ending was nicely wrapped up and everyone got what they deserved. I like that. Anyway, 8.5/10.
I want to watch this so bad because of Lee Do Hyun but the thought of that mother character makes my blood boil (I've seen clips of her here and there). I don't think I'm in the right mood to tolerate horrible k-drama parents 😫
tho 😂), but they loved it nevertheless.

There are no queer elements, just a strong bromance and (closer) bond between different pairings - Jooan and Dogeon, Haru and Hosu, Cein and Jaeha.
