Shin Min-Ah is my least favorite Korean actress. However, I gave this drama a chance, and she has proven me wrong. She's quirky as Joo Eun, an obese lawyer who's determined to her fight her personal battles just by being kind and happy-go-lucky. So Ji Sub is a contrast with his aloof stance, but is an all-around nice guy underneath. This drama also showcases that even if you're down on your last legs, there's still hope if you just persevere.
Restarted this drama again after trying before and it didn't disappoint. The OTP here was fated to be together after failing in "Kill Me, Heal Me" but who actually almost stole the show was Choi Si Won who gave Park Seo Joon a run for his money by being the lovable wise-cracking journalist. Second Lead syndrome heavy in this one.
I had to drop this drama despite the good reviews. I was bored out of my mind watching two episodes of a story about a man who can see the future choosing between two women with the same name. It's like they threw in every cliché and trope you can think of in the story and call it a drama. The lead characters were so ho-hum and crazy not in a good way.
The four men that made up the four knights are easy on the eyes, but none of them except for the 2nd male lead had chemistry with the female lead. The beginning of the show was promising as it set up Hyun Min and Ha Won as the main couple, and their bantering was engaging. I shipped this couple until things suddenly turned 180 degrees and apparently Hyun Min has this repressed love for the 2nd female lead who takes the crown for the neediest person on the planet who doesn't have a clue when to get lost.
The middle episodes were slow and I wouldn't not have gone through the torture if it were not for my curiosity. The ending revelations came too fast and suddenly all loose ends tied up even forcing some relationships to rebound without rhyme or reason.
Because of the drama's popularity and Song - Song marriage (and dissolution of), it made me curious to watch after my extended hiatus from drama. (Did not watch this until 2019, just putting review now). It did not disappoint as it was not just all about romance, but I feel it was over-hyped. Enjoyed the action and comedic scenes. The second couple also is well-rounded and their story is given equal weight as the lead couple. The story gives prominence to the sacrifices that a lot of men and women in the military and medical field make for their country and its people.
Apparently one of the best Korean dramas ever, the Goblin tackles on supernatural themes of after-life and reincarnation. With characters such as the Goblin, the Goblin's bride, the Grim Reaper and ghosts, the drama fluctuates between romance and fantasy. The two male leads are as charismatic as the female leads were lukewarm. As the drama went along, I was more interested in the love story between the secondary couple. Even the bromance between the Goblin and the Grim Reaper was a better watch, IMO. Would have given this a 10, if it wasn't over-hyped and repetitive towards the last part of the drama.
A gender-bender drama about a woman disguising herself as an eunuch to escape unfortunate circumstances. The pure luck that she had escaping detection was a bit of a fantasy in itself but the suspension of disbelief in watching this drama wasn't too farfetched. Park Bo Gum was great as the stoic, playful and yet righteous king who wants to rule his kingdom in a more democratic way, quite different from the dirty traditional politics that was enveloping his nation. I was rooting for their love and as well as for their fight for truth and freedom in the midst of turmoil.
The drama plot is as unique and interesting as the characters in it. To maneuver between the comic world and the real world, the male lead has to have a strong sense of self-awareness and Lee Jong Suk is excellent as Kang Cheol. His character anchors the drama and everyone else around him contributes to his decision-making. The romance between him and the female lead is bitter sweet. But what also moves the drama forward is the suspense of trying to find out whether Kang Cheol can make both world work in his favour.
Apparently this was supposedly one of the best dramas of all time, but it is not really my cup of tea. I dropped it a few times and only took it up because they said it was supposedly good. I got through it only because of the male lead that has an offbeat charm but I am not really into offbeat charms. The female lead character annoys me slightly, her whiny and "dumb" look wasn't endearing. I just got used to it later. Unless you like slice-of-life, youth comedy sports type dramas, then skip this.
A man and woman become housemates unbeknownst to each other. A lot of coincidences that you just have to pretend to believe it can happen in real life (but you know it's mostly in dramas). I liked the stoic Male Character and finished the drama because of him. The female lead is okay, sometimes self-righteous to a fault. The other characters and pairings seem contrived as in a lot of dramas forcing coupledom on their secondary characters.
Dropped after one episode. Maybe I didn't give this show much of a chance but I have learned that if I felt bored to tears in one episode, that most likely it won't endear me in the next few. I like Yoo Ah In in other dramas, but his character here rubs me in the wrong way. And coupled that with the lead actress grating in my nerves, it's a recipe for me to drop out.
Feel good drama about people trying to live out their dreams, even though they're past their prime. Watched mainly for Park Seo Joon and I heard this was funny. The second couple though wasn't really to my taste, especially when they entered a love triangle with an annoying female character who can't seem to take no for an answer.
I personally love this story about a human pretending to be a robot when the actual robot is in repairs and managed to capture the heart of an eccentric CEO who happens to have human-contact allergy. Of course you have to suspend your disbelief in order to watch this drama. There are a lot of cutesy, funny moments in the first half of the movie, and then some heartbreaking scenes in the last half. Yoo Seung Ho is very dashing in this drama as he displays a wide range of emotion without overacting.
This is probably the first drama where I sided more with the Male lead than the female lead, and it's mostly because of Seung Ho's acting. Chae Soo Bin is not so shabby herself and she had to portray 3 characters, as a robot, as human, and as a human pretending to be a robot. However I could not relate to her when she managed to deeply hurt the person she is supposedly striving hard to protect. I did not like any of the secondary characters at all, and their individual story lines just bored the heck out of me, except when they are interacting with the lead characters. But this drama showcase that love, whether familial or romantic, conquers all.
This is a drama that kept me on my toes. The characters have their own strengths and weaknesses as they solve crimes that involve dangerous encounters with the corrupt elite, but yet they risk their lives to be righteous and hold on to the belief that one day good will triumph over evil as long as you don't give up. It's a mind-boggling drama that needs a lot of brain power to comprehend.
A very intriguing political, criminal, and social drama about the role of prosecutors and police, and how lines can be blurred between good and bad. It can be heady sometimes to follow the drama, but so worth it to follow the twists and turns as the Main characters navigate the complex web of truth and lies, as they fight for justice.
I was hesitant to watch this drama, until somebody recommended it to me. It was better than I thought as it has new plot devices, it was very entertaining and funny. Like the fact that this time, it is for a change that we have a woman protecting her man! There are over the top moments though, like with the gang squads, and some unnecessary fillers and repetitive moments, but over all a joy to watch and lead actor and second male leads are hot to boot!
I absolutely loved this offbeat love story between human and machine. I find the Premise of a Robot developing Human emotions very intriguing as the Robot also is a "better" person than the human version that he was supposed to portray. Seo Kang Joon managed to elicit entirely different feelings by portraying two characters so effortlessly. Kang So Bong as a character initially irritated me but she redeemed herself when she finally made the right choice by being less selfish, and help Nam Shin Robot to grow as his own entity. The other secondary characters, whether they are villains or not, are well-rounded that they have their own distinct personalities and characters.
Tried to watch this twice but Dropped at 25%. It is supposedly one of the funniest Korean show ever, but while I do admit there are some quite funny moments, I feel that some of the humor is forced. Also, I am not into plotless sitcoms that go nowhere. Hence not a fan of Seinfeld.
I dropped this drama after watching a few episodes because the pace is soooooo freaking slow and characters so one-dimensional. The acting is also stiff. I also checked the kissing scenes and blah they're like mosquito bites. ...if it's romance, I'm expecting the kisses to be good or at the very least, decent. I don't expect any good kissing scenes like from Healer or any dramas that focus on thriller or political themes....but if a drama is touting itself to be a romance, decent kisses are a must. Save yourself the misery or take the risk. I feel this drama is overhyped and its popularity questionable. If the only reason why this drama got a high rating and became popular is because it is a social commentary on the standards of beauty and the plastic surgery industry and trying to give a message that girls need self esteem ...that beauty is in the inside....yada yada yada..... then I don't need to watch a Boring drama just to know that.
The only thing that keeps me going is the acting of Jung Hae In. But otherwise this is a slow-cooking drama made worse by alternating cringe-worthy sound tracks playing at inappropriate moments. I was rooting for the couple in the beginning but towards the end, I feel frustrated for the Main Female Lead that I wanted to push her off a cliff because the self-sacrificing male lead deserved better.
The decisions made by the female martyr seemed so self-serving even when she thought she had good intentions, as if she WANTS to play the role of the suffering victim that needs to be saved by the young prince. The drama wants to come across as an art film but becomes more fartsy than artsy. Saving this film from pure destruction is the chemistry between the leads, but otherwise this drama can go to hell along with the obnoxious, social-climbing mother.
