Spoilers ahead on leaked episodes so if you don't want to know...
I will admit some concern around episod 27-28 about how they are going to wrap up the story lines because getting everything together in the last 13 episodes would be a challenge.
I have to say that I was right to expect it. Let's just say episode 31-32, still doesn't move forward much, then 33-38 was, in my opinion, amazing, and then 39-40 just speed ran through the remaining plot points. I'm not going to say that I thought it was the best way they could have executed it, but I still found it to be a very good show.
I'm rereading chasing jade now, and of course, I think the novel was phenominal and there are a lot of plot points that the show doesn't address or pieces that are just not included. However, the show has it's own charm that I love. I think the novel did the political situation, the family dynamics, and the fighting much better. But I do think the show did an amazing job with the romance. Honestly I think all the relationships (princess/scholar; shopkeepr/crownprince; ML/FL) were beautiful and the actors had amazing chemistry.
I really did love it, and it is absolutely a 10/10.
I'm definitely going to rewatch as the episodes upload normally on iqiyi because the pirate sites had the worst translations, but still loved it.
I did also consider that loving it is easier when you just binge it, because you have less time to obsess over what wasn't addressed. But either way, I was happy watching!
I remember when I first watched ZLH in Maiden Holmes and he was still unknown and I thought to myself, this is truly the best kiss scene I've ever seen. And four years later, he still is the best ML in kiss scenes.
this was a great episode and i loved every minute, but i'm also really concerned how slowly this is going. We are already at ep 27. there are only 13 eps left to get through everything (and the novel had a lot of plot to go through) and so far they've kept pretty consistent to the novel minus some characters and less important parts. So I'm really worried how they'll speedrun the last 10 eps. Hope my worries are for nothing.
i've literally been rewatching this over and over while waiting for the next episodes and waking up at 4:00 a.m. for the past 3 days to watch the new episodes. ðŸ˜
It's just the mess of Xie Zheng's own making. It's as simple as that. He knew very well that how Fan Changyu is…
She still drugged her husband. Whether you want to say it's for love or not, it's still a big deal. Loving someone doesn't excuse drugging them. If he drugged her to keep her safe would we find that excusable? I don't think I would! Her rationale doesn't matter. And how could he expect or anticipate that she would drug him? He absolutely should get told off for lying to her, but she should also get told off for drugging him regardless of his identity.
Listen, I agree she did incredibly well in thhis fight against the opposing general. But even if she hadn't taken the marquis's place, she still DRUGGED her husband. Yes her husband lied to her. SHE DRUGGED HIM!! That's not okay. I hope it gets addressed and it's not brushed over like the military punishment.
I'm actually so annoyed they didn't do the military punishment. And can someone tell me if he misssed out on the entire battle or we just didn't see him.
Did I miss something, why does it seems like Jin Yuan Bao has a crush on changyu ðŸ˜ðŸ˜ðŸ˜ðŸ˜
Theres another male character in the novel who had sort of a quasi crush on fl. I think they are giving some of that characters traits to mr. Jin and some to mr. Li.
I like that in ep 25 he still gave out punishment for breaking military orders. It shows his men that he doesnt make exceptions and he is fair, but it also shows them how much he loves her that he would take the punishment for her. It was also appropriate because they risked a lot taking the prisoner and endangered themselves and the camp if things went wrong or if he didnt react quickly enough to respond to the change of plans. Her plan worked but that was luck more than anything. Not strategy or planning. It was impulsive and he was right to dole out punishment.
There's another small matter that is revealed on why people are trying to assassinate her and what her family…
He doesn't hate her, he just feels like life is unfair and that a blood feud separates them and he can't be with her. Eventually he's like, screw this I love her and asks forgiveness from his family because he wants to be with her anyway.
There's another small matter that is revealed on why people are trying to assassinate her and what her family…
HUGE SPOILER: Her family was rumored to have betrayed his leading to his father and clans deaths. He ends up taking a family punishment because he fell in love with her and refuses to lose her.
