I'm loving, LOVING this drama! So glad I finally decided to watch this series. As of now, it's my favorite out of the Reply series. But that could all change once I watch Reply 1988.

Wow, okay. I'm really impressed. The first 2 episodes had me on the edge of my seat. There were a few moments throughout where I held my breath and was all tensed up. I'm really excited and anxious for the next two episodes!

This perfectly captures what the drama is about. I love this comment, I want to send it to everyone who doesn't…
Yes, I find it a shame that more people don't understand her character :(

I'm glad you brought this poem to my attention! From what you've said, it sounds like it does have some similarities to the scene. How interesting!

I can definitely see how it could be his way of "claiming" her. I'm interested to see if we get more elaboration on this scene.

Their relationship is so cute! I love how it develops as well. They didn't go straight into the romance, they…
I totally agree! Their relationship is off the charts cute. I too, like that the writers didn't dive head first into the romance pool and drown us--along with the characters. I like the slow progression from strangers, co-workers, friends, to lovers. It's believable and much more enjoyable to watch than to a instantaneous love story, in my opinion. And honestly, same. I'm biting my nails in anticipation for the other shoe to drop and the whole secret to be revealed.

Title Devilish Joy Spoiler
Today was the day Devilish Joy was finally released into the world and I have a few thoughts about said dramas debut episode.

First off, let me just mention that every cliche you can possibly think of somehow managed to be squeezed into this mere 1hr & 6min episode. But you know what? I'm okay with it. Because it was CUTE and I'm a hoe for cliches. And so far, this drama is pulling it off in a entertaining manner.

Secondly, the characters. I'm already so in love with our main leads, Ma Sung and Gi Beum. They have a certain kind of chemistry on-screen that just reels you in and leaves you wanting more of their flirtatious interactions. It's been a while since I've seen a drama where the leads connection is almost instantaneous. I can see though where two attractive, very successful people of the same ethnicity meeting in a foreign county can cause sparks to fly almost immediately. In this aspect, it's believable. But of course, it is short-lived thanks to a certain accident. But this unfortunate event that happens to our main lead just sets the stage for all the drama to come. And I'm actually pretty excited to watch it all unfold.

As for them as separate characters, I like them, but I'm not totally sold on them yet. To me, Gi Beum is quite naive and childish for a woman of her age. I'm not sure on her exact age but my guess is late twenties to early 30s. So, I hope to see some character growth as the drama progresses. As for the male lead, Ma Sung, I like him quite a bit already. He's not a complete jerk like a lot of ML start off to be. He's quite charming, outgoing--and dare I say--romantic. But because of his accident, he's changed from the man we see in ep 1. He's become more guarded, gruff, and even an outcast amongst his peers, which is understandable taking into account his condition. I already feel for his character and hope to see him grow as a character as well in the future episodes.

Lastly, the storyline as a whole sounds promising and interesting but I'll just have to see it play out on-screen more to have a more solid opinion on it. I've seen a lot of dramas where the synopsis sounds all amazing and great but when put into motion, it lacks a certain something. So I'm hoping this drama isn't one of THOSE.

All in all, I enjoyed episode one quite a bit and I'm interested to see where the story goes and to learn more about our characters.

The relationship between Kang Ho and Eun So just warms my heart. It's so sweet, genuine, and soft, that sometimes I honest to god, just can't.

Eun So always sees the best in Kang Ho--even expects the best of him, something no one has ever done. And I love seeing how deeply this touches him. No one's ever listened to him, vauled him, or taken the time to know him like she has. Her kindness and sincerity makes him want to be a better person, someone worthy of her admiration and attention. And I love how Kang Ho gives her strength and hope, when her spirt is on the verge of breaking, he is there lifting her back up. They are both so kind and caring towards one another and it is honestly the best.

Title Mr. Sunshine Spoiler
Okay, what does everyone think about the ending scene of ep 18?

I have my own interpretation of it and I'm curious to know if anyone shares it or has a different opinion as to what Dong Mae cutting Ae Shin's hair means.

For me, it has two meanings: a symbolic and also a clear-cut meaning. As for the symbolic signification, I believe it has to do with Confucianism--which is a philosophy/religion the majority of 20th century Koreans practiced. It put a lot of emphasis on the importance of hair because it was believed that it was a part of your body that was given to you by your parents. So basically, it was your legacy you inherited from them. No woman loyal or honorable to her family would ever dare do such a thing to their hair. Back then, it was basically a declaration that you were no longer tied to your blood--family. Therefore; by cutting Ae Shin's hair, he is serving ties with her parents/family, making her an outcast among her own clan. By dishonoring them and by extension--her, he is ultimately distancing her from her own family.

And I also think it's symbolic in the sense that Dong Mae used this common knowledge of the time as a warning to Ae Shin. A warning that he is willing to do anything in order to protect her, even if he has to disrespect and hurt her to do so.

As for the clear-cut meaning behind his act, it all comes down to protecting Ae Shin. As we saw earlier in the ep, Dong Mae receives a list with names written on it. Amongst these names, he recognizes the names of Ae Shin's parents. For him, the puzzle pieces start go fall into place. Her parents were rebels apart of The Righteous Army and she is following in their footsteps. And Dong Mae knows, Wan-Ik (the man who asked for the list) is on to Ae Shin and if he finds out the truth, she'll be in more danger than she's already in.

So if we go back to what I mentioned earlier about the significance of hair and put into the equation the impending danger Ae Shin is in, Dong Mae ultimately cuts her hair to throw Wan-Ik off her trail and server her connection to her family. Therefore, making her someone without power or significance within society standards. So she is no longer someone Wan-Ik needs to turn his eye to.

So all in all, this is what I got from that scene. I'd love to hear what everyone else thinks and gleaned from said scene!

Honesty I don't think she's growing slowly. She has progressed so much in such a short time and I know from experience…
I share your same sentiment in wanting Kang Mi Rae to be happy. She really deserves the best and I wish the people around her would see her worth as well. And as you said, she needs to stop caring so much about what others think about her. It's destroying her potential happiness. But of course, this will take time. In k-drama land, 16 episodes worth of time. But with only 4 episodes left after today's 12th episode, I'm sure we'll start to see Mi Rae's situation turn around and her happiness come into full bloom.

I absolutely love how you phrased that, I've been trying to get that pint across myself but couldn't articulate…
I totally agree. Ep 11 was a bittersweet ep to watch. Seeing Mi Rae's insecurities get the better of her, causing her to push Kyung Seok away bc she believes she's not enough, really pulled at my heartstrings. I absolutely loathe Soo Ah. I was so mad at her during the rooftop scene when she said those things to Mi Rae. Like you said, those words hurt Mi Rae deeply. They just enforced what she already thinks about herself and her relationship with Kyung Seok.

Totally with you on this! I love that the show is taking the time to believably untangle her insecurities and…
Yes, exactly! I'm glad we're getting to see her grow as a person and become more confident. I really like how the writers wrote her character in the sense that she's not dependent on a boy "fixing" her. Before she can start to love someone else, she has to start loving herself. And I think this is such an important message we need to hear and see more of. And hopefully in the next couple of episodes, we'll get some cutesy couple moments, that Mi Rae and Kyung Seok deserve, lol.
