it feels like it's getting lost in translation when you look at the comments at the drama page though lol but it's okay, different strokes and all and I don't blame them because the editing/flow of the drama is really inconsistent. it's also just sad knowing it could have been better.

a lot of character interactions from the script was cut. not entirely sure if it was Youku's decision or the director/producers but as a result, everyone's personality suffered and that's also why the plot logic is missing sometimes.

it was deleted from the drama but in the script, Peiyi gets the medicine recipe from the doctor and makes one for Wu Ren. Huai Jin notices WR's medicine bag is the same as PY's and he tricks her to exchange so that his medicine bag matches PY's. it's revealed later that PY also made bags for some of her other staff so HJ's effort of getting a couple trinket was in vain.

sometimes chemistry is also a product of directing/editing. I remember in the reuters of the horseback jumping scene, you clearly see WXY as XHJ get surprised and flustered when LPY grabs the reins from him. this is not cut into the drama and they just have him looking stoic on the horse as usual. so how are you supposed to feel their emotions towards each other slowly changing? it just makes me wonder how many more little character moments were deleted.

film roles might be a little hard now, if the drama industry is struggling with multiple projects getting canceled/constantly delayed, it's even harder for the movie industry unless you already have a lot of connections (YZ doesn't seem to have that many, his reach is still limited to TV.)

the difference with LYX is that her management is very good at controlling public opinion: they delete a lot of the more unsavory rumors off douban/weibo and are willing to spend money pushing flattering clips of their artists on douyin to the masses. YZ lets the bad rumors fester and circulate because it's all publicity to him. like there's a rumor now that DEX's management has been buying her ALC reuters so netizens will stop ganging up on her with the blurry, overly sharpened images for a bit.
