Though the writing (particularly the characterisation and humour) still feels like it somewhat lags at times, the acting is so excellent, this really is among the best Thai GL currently out there!
I really had to bite the bullet during the first few episodes to get through Song Yi (Liu Yuru) staring off into the void, blinking her big eyes and reciting the script whenever she was on screen but she got much better once she could embrace a cool character more suitable to her age after episode 4.
I was excited about this couple but found both characters extremely annoying. One acting like a neurotic woman…
It feels like early days BL- a lowkey abusive Seme incapable of overtly expressing affection and an Uke that is severly lacking in confidence to the point where they go along with whatever the Seme wants. Two-dimensional writing. But at least they're treated as equal to the male equivalent I guess...
Patiently waiting to see what kind of insanely twisted traumatic backstory MAME has in store for this bottom, so far it looks more tame than usual (will he be spared of the usual SA?).
This reminds me of Ride or Die tbh (the movie not tje manga). Very unlikeable characters and a really questionable representation of what it's like to be a lesbian who married a man. It's quite ambitious and just misses its mark completely.
I'm glad to have finally found a PondPhuwin series I like. I've had a feeling that I'd enjoy the pairing were it not for the somewhat disappointing plots of Fosh In The Sky and Never Let Me Go. Though I'm still not sure whether I genuinely enjoy their acting and chemistry or if I just like Pond's face...
Shoma (Kazuma) might save this god awful series for real. Not only is he a delight to look at, but it seems like he brings to life everyone around him.
Unfortunately, there is nothing unique about this BL. It has cliche characters, a cliche plot, cliche BL tropes…
It has tropes and clichés, but I do believe said tropes are quite well executed. The dialogue isn't cringe, the plot doesn't drag (for now), the characters are mature and likeable and even though we know what will eventually happen, it's a pleasure to watch it play out. I was pretty surprised by the quality of this because I had expected it to be smutty nonsense with sub-par acting, but it's definitely not that. As for 'cliché lgbtq+ roles' I'm not quite sure what you mean, I believe it's the first BL to feature an asexual character too.
But at least they're treated as equal to the male equivalent I guess...
