Thank you. I'm thinking about it as I normally don't write reviews and so many people have already expressed their thoughts. As I haven't really read the novel ( can't read Chinese)I'm not sure I could be as authoritative to compare. I have watched a number of C Dramas mainly to learn about Chinese history and culture ( plus light romance to relax!) In addition structure and flow are often hampered ,imo by government requirements and business drivers. Let me think about it! Meanwhile I'm going to see if I can rate this on WeTV. Doing my bit to help out.
At ep.52 does anyone understand the meaning of a bronze mirror as dowry? Why did CSS smile when her heard that…
Hi, the question has been asked a number of times but I guess the thread moves quickly here. Historically and culturally there are many meanings of a bronze mirror. Many have said that in these particular times (Han Dynasty?) a bronze mirror in the home is meant to keep evil spirits away. When the evil spirit has departed the house the mirror is to go to. By HBY giving the bronze mirror openly to LJT/her father as part of dowry gifts it says she is the evil spirit.... thats why she was shocked to receive it.
Rewatching some later episodes and IMO the scene where LBY riding horse to save CSS from LJT in the carriage was…
Yes, this scene was disappointing in many ways. I read that NN saved herself with her special weapons which is more in keeping with her character. HBY didn't need to "save" her again. There could have been more quiet conversations in which he expresses how much he regrets his actions. I mean we already have the temple trap scene and the assassination of CP and Guo village fire coming up......
Zisheng and Shaoshang staring at each other lovingly in 45:49 episode 41, is my no.1 ZiShang moments favorites.…
I know, I'm rewatching the first meeting after 5 years. I didn't realise she walked to the horse first and couldn't even speak to him F2F. Theres a lot to take in after the binge watch of the last episodes. Not quite ready to let go yet so will take some time to rewatch segments to make sure I have all the details!!
Anyone knows? What is the meaning of bronze mirror that HBY gifted to LJT???
It has a number of meanings but some commenters said in ancient times a bronze mirror was in a house specifically to ward off evil spirits that may lurk in the house. When the evil goes the mirror is taken away so basically when LBY gives the mirror openly to her/family it means she is the evil spirit.
Me toooooo.. I am still having a major withdrawal and unable to move on yet.Huhuhuhu.Need to find something to…
Yes, thats what I've decided to do. Have a break, then finish off some classics I've got on hold. Then who knows what may have dropped into the Dramaworld by then. LlTG will always hold a special place in my heart.
Thanks again @SpicyLime for this. My snippets of reading the novel showed it was definitely more intense than what was portrayed. I wouldn't say it was 'vanilla" but understanding there would have been restrictions on what would be regulated and passed by censorship laws.
Keep on going! What a fantastic surprise when I came back from lunch.
