I, too was disappointed when the C drama critic called LlTG a 'idol drama". She appeared to be dismissive and arrogant in her approach. She has always been thorough and intelligent in her reviews but lately there is a cynicism that peeks through. I guess if you watch so many dramas thats an occupational hazard? I think Wu Lei and Lusi are a pretty perfect matching pair who the audience can believe are the characters they play in this story. My hope is that in 10 years time they will come back together as did Wallace Chung and Li Xiao Ran reunite in another drama, where they are older,more experienced to tell us another story.

I agree , this is so much more appealing that WRTW which I dropped even though I loved YY in YAMG. I think the pairing in LlTG is so much better given their ages and charm. Keep requesting Netflix ( Request a show) to pick it up. The more people that request they will know its popular - they probably do already.

Loving this drama...can anyone please explain how/why Wan Qi Qi family has so much wealth and evident wealth when her family has a military General the same as CSS family who has a military general as her father who was given titles and tributes. Were there various levels of Generals at that time depending on your relationship with the Emperor? Or was it inherited wealth? Just curious......

Thank you for posting this for the international viewers. When an actor can legitimately ride the horses/do their own stunts it gives authenticity to the drama and credibility to the actor/actresses. I'm in awe of Wu Lei - he is a real star.

A first love is unique and memorable. It comes unexpectedly and everything seems effortless. That is one of the many things that makes first love so special . Nothing about first love is selfish or with a motive. It's pure and filled with innocence. Its lovely to see this innocence portrayed with YL and CSS. Just enjoy it while it lasts.

I enjoy the historical context, wuxia and learning how the various dynasties functioned. Its a fun way to learn as opposed to a historical textbook. Since I retired I discovered K Drama and C Drama as a way to 'travel" when Covid hit. Nice to meet you online!

Nice comparison with ADoS. LlTG has its own charms with a younger cast. I do think the pairing of ZL and LW is spot on and while ZL has shown to have good relationships with all her previous on screen partners this pairing with LBY has far more believable chemistry. maybe similar age range so more realistic?
