I don't know the novel, but I see a very emotional and tsundere dynamic between the main couple. And Episode 7…
Nice to see you again unbeliebubble! ^^
Yes, congrats to the screenwriters for the emotional journey they've provided so far. I forgive them for the occasional details that defy logic (as that's standard practice for this genre), and I hope I don't regret congratulating them after watching the remaining episodes!
Episode 7 made so many huge changes to the story from the novel and yet... I'm not mad about it. Not even a little bit.
I don't think I've ever seen a drama that's adapted from a novel do such a good job of improving on the original work. While there are things from the novel version of the story that I enjoy (and a few details that make a bit more sense to me) and I'm glad that it exists separately as something I can go back and read again, the drama version of the story has gone in a different direction and I'm enjoying the new approach. And they've fixed some of the weakest parts of the novel. I can't wait to see how they tackle the rest of the story over the next five episodes!
@cornbread, If it’s any consolation, those “spoilers” mostly aren’t accurate. So, for the most part, they aren’t really spoilers.
While I think it is better to err on the side of caution when it comes to hiding spoilers, if I was forced to pick one comment with novel spoilers to leave uncovered, this would be a good one to pick given how little it reveals. The inaccuracies almost make them anti-spoilers.
The users in this comment section are fellow fans of this drama, and with the spoiler tag feature it’s so easy to hide and provide warnings for spoilers out of consideration for them. No one here has the authority to make another user tag their spoilers, it’s up to you. But it’s the kind and considerate thing to do.
Plus, hiding spoilers will improve your own experience, too. If you hide spoilers properly they should only be seen by those who actually want to see them, and then instead of getting comments from those who have been spoiled against their will and are, quite understandably, unhappy about it, you’ll just get comments from those who wanted to see them. It’s a much better experience.
"bullshit voting" as in the presidential impeachment vote??? What's "important voting" then?! Also, it's done,…
The National Assembly voting portion of the process is complete, but the whole impeachment process is not "done" quite yet. The Constitutional Court still needs to hold a trial and to vote on whether or not they will sustain the impeachment. The preliminary hearing has been scheduled for December 27 and the court won't vote until the trial is complete. So there shouldn't be any impeachment-related votes that could disrupt the drama airing schedule for a good while. https://www.bbc.com/news/articles/cx2pl4edk13o
According the novel readers the ML and Fl are toxic, especially the ML. There's r rated scenes, including a sexy…
Novel spoilers ahead.
The ML in the novel does not have a twin of any kind. He does have a nephew who is the same age.
The novel reader you mentioned might've been referring to Park Do Jae rather than the ML. He had a sister who disappeared, although there was no indication that she was Park Do Jae's twin. The novel does not make any mention of twins or an orphanage.
Also, although Ji Sang U's character (the SML in the drama) doesn't exist in the novel, that character reflects elements of several characters that do exist in the novel, including a secondary male character that was HHJ's long-time colleague who knew her "since she was little". Like JSU in the drama, that character makes BSE quite jealous in the novel.

“Completely different” feels like a stretch as almost all of the core elements of the story have been retained, but it is accurate to say that, so far, the drama has made several changes to the story that was told in the novel and I am expecting that the second half of the drama will have more changes. Notably the drama has not yet gotten to the parts of the novel that include the more explicit scenes.
The drama is rated TV-14, so there's pretty much no chance that the explicit scenes from the novel will be included in the drama. But hopefully we'll at least get a good kiss.
One or two of the things you mentioned hearing from a novel reader about the details in the novel aren't accurate, but I’ll address them under a spoiler cover.
I just looked at the last chapter of the web novel and does she fr not talk to him in person till the very end…
I really don't expect the drama to handle the end portion of the story the way the novel did.

Novel spoilers ahead.
"I just looked at the last chapter of the web novel and does she fr not talk to him in person till the very end when they almost drown?"
After BSE disappears, he starts to call HHJ from an international number but doesn't say anything. Consequently, HHJ speaks to BSE on the phone (but not under the guise of 406) in chapter 64, but BSE does not answer her.
HHJ speaks to BSE in chapter 66, but only as a translator for a deaf soldier. She also signs BSE's words back to the soldier. In the novel, BSE still hadn't learned Korean or international sign language by this point.
HHJ and BSE speak to each other in chapter 67. Although HHJ had made noises or shouted one word in front of BSE before in person (and obviously spoke to him more over the phone), this was the first time they had an actual conversation face-to-face and both using their own words.
The near-drowning occurs in chapter 68, the last main chapter of the novel. There are also bonus chapters.
I think it’s probably fair to say it was “laid out a bit differently” in the novel and was *slightly* more…
Novel spoilers ahead, but they aren’t really spoilers if you’ve watched episode 6.
In the novel, when HHJ was pushed, she badly injured her back when her fall was broken by a tree. She hit several branches on the way down and tried to grab them, but failed to keep a hold on them. She continued to fall through trees that were growing on the cliff.
Then she hit the cliff (injuring her head) and the surface collapsed. She was sucked into a narrow cave / fissure in the rock. Based on what I gathered from the translation, it sounded like it was the type of space that would be difficult to see into from above (hence why the helicopter search failed) and nearly impossible to find if you were searching from the bottom of the cliff on foot and didn’t know exactly where to look (hence why the flare was so important). It sounded like she didn’t fall all the way to the bottom of the whole cliff face and the area where she landed wasn’t nearly as open and easy to find as it was in the drama.
Novel spoilers ahead for stuff that hasn't happened in the drama yet / might be covered in episode 7.
When HHJ was found (four hours after her fall), HHJ was covered in blood and bruises and she was pretty much unconscious and she later fell into a coma. Her head wound needed 10 stitches and her right and left limbs needed 7 and 8 stitches respectively. She was hospitalized for several days and covered in bandages.
I do kind of wish the falling scenario was laid out a bit differently because it's a little ridiculous how it…
I think it’s probably fair to say it was “laid out a bit differently” in the novel and was *slightly* more logical than in the drama. Happy to share the details (under a spoiler cover) if you’d like to try to mentally overwrite the drama details with the novel details. Let me know 😊
She’s aware that BSE is married, so even if she likes him beyond just being his fan she doesn’t harbour any…
Agreed! Although I do get a bit annoyed when the story gets diverted to include her new storyline, I don’t dislike her character. For the most part she’s likeable and definitely doesn’t fall into the category of typical awful SFL.
I loved how Yu Ri, even though she clearly fancies Sa Eon, was genuinely happy for Hui Ju getting the job
She’s aware that BSE is married, so even if she likes him beyond just being his fan she doesn’t harbour any thoughts that she herself could have a romantic relationship with him.
I saw someone post somewhere "the plot twist! the paper he made her signed is actually the marriage certificate…
I have watched all of the aired episodes and read the novel and I still can’t tell what that person’s comment is trying to say. There’s no plot twist related to that document.
kdramas should go back to having 16-20 episodes because it sucks that there are so many good kdramas this year…
They already added a second couple storyline and several other side characters to pad the original story so it could fill 12 episodes. I’d be very frustrated if they did more of that (spent a lot more time on the second couple or new side characters that didn’t exist in the original story) or added other draggy filler content to expand the run time. I’m glad they decided to go with 12 episodes and have mostly focused on the main couple so far.
Major novel spoilers ahead. It might be different in the drama, but in the novel, the kidnapper's motives are…
You’re welcome! I will always include a text warning before novel spoilers so those who don’t want to see spoilers from the novel can avoid reading them. 👍
Screenshotting the spoiler so you can read it after the drama finishes airing is an elite approach - you avoid the spoiler now when you don’t want to see it but still get to benefit from it later when you’re ready to see it. I love it. ^^
The question I have, is why does the kidnappers want to kill the FL? It would seem to me that should be trying…
Major novel spoilers ahead.
It might be different in the drama, but in the novel, the kidnapper's motives are not entirely aligned with the motives of the kidnapper's "master". When it comes to the kidnapper, he is the real BSE and he wants to reclaim the name, position and life that was his birthright from the male lead, who was forced to take over the real BSE's identity. But when he reclaims that life / birthright, he doesn't want HHJ to be his wife. She previously told the kidnapper that she was just a burden to the male lead.
In chapter 34 of the novel (which the drama has already passed without covering this conversation between the kidnapper and HHJ), the kidnapper tells HHJ that if she can't get BSE to divorce her, she should just die because she is "the most in the way".
Note that the kidnapper is portrayed as not being entirely in his right mind. So his thought processes and decisions aren't always logical.

Chapter 34:
— Can you believe that the Blue House spokesperson secretly spreads illegal rumors and manipulates the entire nation like kneading dough?
“...!”
Hee-joo was utterly stunned, standing frozen.
— A scandal is one thing, but if this comes out, his upright journalist image will be completely destroyed.
“...”
— I’ve brought you a recording you can use, so let me tell you this as well.
“How... do you know all this?”
She didn’t expect an answer, but she had to ask anyway.
A cold snort came from the other end of the phone.
— What don’t I know about Baek Sa-eon? His grandfather cherished those three characters like a treasure.
A burst of chuckling followed.
— So, I leave it in your hands. The real orders I must hear, the ones I’m dying to hear.
The kidnapper’s voice was almost sing-song.
— If it all goes wrong, just die. Everyone should die.
“...!”
Hee-joo etched those cruel words deeply into her heart.
The other party always dragged things out, rarely revealing their true intentions, so every time such words suddenly appeared, her nerves would tighten.
— So hurry up and get divorced, sis.
“...”
— If it all goes wrong, you’ll be the first to die. Because you’re the most in the way.
“...!”
— I’m not joking.
Ding-dong. The doorbell rang.
Hee-joo’s head turned slowly, creaking like an old iron door.
“...No way?” she asked in a trembling voice.
The eerie laughter from the other end of the phone sent chills down her spine.
Dragging her feet, Hee-joo walked to the living room and checked the intercom. Her face was tense, but there was no one visible in the camera.
— Go back to how it was before.
“...”
— Go back to how it was before.
The call ended just like that.
Hee-joo pressed her hand against her chest and stood there blankly for a while.

Chapter 36:
—If anything happens, the first to die will be you, sister. Because you're the one in the way.
"…!"
—I’m not joking.
Her eyes were darkened with terror. The kidnapper’s words echoed in her mind the moment she fell from the cliff. She flailed her arms, but nothing could be grasped. Everything happened too fast.

Chapter 53:
"My lost name, position, and honor... Even though it’s late, I will take them all back."
The kidnapper's voice became slightly unsteady.
"Baek Sa-eon, that name was originally mine! Damn it, that was my name!"
"......!"
It felt like a sharp stab inside her chest, the pain unbearable. Hee-joo could only shake her head helplessly, facing the truth that shattered the only name she had liked.
The kidnapper laughed again and asked:
"Sister, you don't really want to live with me, do you?"
Her thoughts slowed down, her eyelids trembled, and her ears buzzed. But finally, a boiling groan escaped her lips.
"If I become Baek Sa-eon again, technically, you would be my wife."
"...!"
"Could you live like that?"
It was terrifying. Hee-joo's pupils trembled violently, as if someone had grabbed her neck from behind.
"So, damn it, hurry up and end it. Hm? Quickly, quickly, damn it."
"..."
"When I become Baek Sa-eon again, I won't take you with me. Didn't you say you were just a burden?"
Though his voice was low, it was full of excitement.
"If you can't bring me a confession, this time it won't be your father who dies; it'll be your husband... the guy who stole my life will die."
"...!"
"I never joke around; that's why you fell off that mountain."
While I wait for this to complete... does the ML know it's the FL on the phone and not 406? I've been watching…
Initially the ML does not know that the person on the phone is the FL, but he does find out later on in an episode that has aired already. But even after finding out that the person on the phone is the FL, he pretends not to know and goes along with the FL's act.
Yes, congrats to the screenwriters for the emotional journey they've provided so far. I forgive them for the occasional details that defy logic (as that's standard practice for this genre), and I hope I don't regret congratulating them after watching the remaining episodes!
