Although I didn't enjoy the show as a whole, I feel like I should mention that I've been listening to Gaho's song (https://youtu.be/joVCpK5ZXF4) almost non-stop for the past three days. So even though I escaped the heartbreak I haven't moved on completely!

Thank you for writing this. I did end up watching it and I didn't enjoy it. Even before the point in the drama where they had to re-write the script to accommodate KJH leaving I still only enjoyed a small handful of scenes. I agree that the FL was quite disappointing. Which was almost a good thing because I didn't find the drama as heart-wrenching and depressing as I thought I would because I wasn't invested in the characters or the story. Even with Soo Ho's story line, despite KJH's performance (which was definitely the best part of the drama), I just ended up tired. His death was almost a relief because the writer just would not give him a break.
Can someone talk me out of watching this? I don't want to get sucked into 16 episodes of soul-crushing depression, but I keep seeing gifsets from this drama on tumblr and they're really tempting me to watch this despite all the warnings.
what you are seeing is 2 episodes combined (to make one hour) but in reality is 40 episodes (so combiend 20 episode…
So it sounds like there will be 6 more 1 hour episodes / 12 more 35-minute episodes over the next 3 weeks for a total of 20 1-hour episodes / 40 35-minute episodes. I guess dramafever made a mistake with the episode total then. Thanks for replying :)
I'm confused. This page says 40 episodes (35 minutes each) and the drama will finish airing October 1, but on dramafever it says the drama will be 16 episodes, and 14 episodes (1 hour each) are already available. So are there just two more episodes that will air next week, or are there a bunch more episodes?
I tried so hard to wait to start watching this drama until it finished airing but I caved yesterday and now I've watched all 14 episodes and have to wait until the weekend for the last two episodes TT.TT
I have to agree with everything KaiaLynn said. The first eight episodes were amazing. A solid 10 for me. And then it was like the next eight episodes were written by an entirely different person.
Huge fan of the cast but not a fan of all the changes they've made to the story. Particularly the fact that they've made the villain a woman.
In all the adaptations of this story, one of the best things about the legend of Mulan is that it's about a woman who excels in a traditionally male field and defeats her male enemies with her own intelligence and abilities.
By making the main villain a woman instead, that takes away the central triumph of the story and the message to girls that they can do anything - even beat the boys at their "own" game.
(That said I like that the idea of having more female roles elsewhere in the story - like the fact that they've given Mulan a sister).
Just started putting it together yesterday actually! Because I realized Kimi Wa Petto didn't fit neatly into my…
Thanks, I forgot about Heirs. I haven't watched Birth of a Beauty yet and I only watched a few episodes of Waikiki and INK so I don't think I'll include them.
If any of the characters actually found happiness, that would have been a major change in the way the drama was…
@James Bond, I agree that if the story up to the last episode was written the same way (with KTW being the person who killed KL and covered it up) and then KTW and GHR had gotten a happy ending, that would make no sense.
But the reveal didn't have to happen that way. There are a bunch of different ways they could've written it (with someone else as the killer, with more contextual justification for KTW's actions - e.g. self defence, etc.).
As its written, GHR and KTW make a lot of bad choices (especially KTW), and they suffer because of those choices. That makes sense, but it's not satisfying for the viewers. I'm disappointed in the finale because it's very easy to see how it could have been written slightly differently (and still true to the themes of the earlier episodes) to be very satisfying.
