i really am excited for bison to find out the truth behind kant—kt is always good at heightened and emotional scenes, whether it’s sadness or anger—but i also don’t want to be wishing the series to its end bc i think i am going to miss this when it’s over haha~
i just watched the 2nd ep. i enjoyed the 1st but the 2nd was already much more enjoyable and felt more cohesive to me. and thankfully i didn’t have to listen to anyone chewing like in the first episode LOL
tbh there are plenty of modern adaptations of taming of the shrew. the one that immediately comes to mind for me is 10 things i hate about you; the female lead there, kat, if i’m remembering correctly, made a lot of feminist comments/comments against misogyny
obviously in heart killers, where the relationship is between two men, those themes of sexism and misogyny are naturally and irrevocably extricated. but i guess, if we’re considering the original play in the first place in the context of when it was released, it wasn’t really considered misogynistic or sexist anyway
i guess we could view it as a comment on changing times/societal conformation, though; like the original play didn’t have a female lead who was headstrong in the socially conscious way that kat of 10 things i hate about you was which was reflective of the current social environment, although kat was more non-comforming due to her intensity of her beliefs rather than her beliefs alone. the same could be said about style openly hitting on fadel; frankly, this quite a modern take on relationships, and something that is still not entirely accepted.
but you can be influenced and draw parallels without necessarily looking to recreate the exact same context/message so it could be a case of that? i honestly wonder if heart killers being a romcom (to some degree) is influenced by taming of the shrew being a “comedy”
Wang Xing Yue and Bai Lu have actually worked on a few dramas together. it will be interesting to see them paired.
some notable works of Wang Xing Yue include The Double (male lead), Story of Kunning Palace (main role) and One and Only (supporting role)! i’ve been a fan of him since I saw Scent of Time :-)
Also whenever I see Bai Lu’s name I want to rewatch Arsenal Military Academy lol
I think if they didn't make us wait that long we could enjoy the series more. I feel like I lost my excitement…
this isn’t meant to be offensive so please don’t take it that way but from this comment i knew for sure you wouldn’t have watched too many chinese dramas. those things get shelved for literal years. like, the filming is complete and everything… but still, half a decade later you’re still there twiddling your thumbs and wondering if the announcement and promotion of the series was just a fever dream LOL. i feel like this drama was released quite quickly, maybe because of that hahaha
i dont think anyone is hating, i think people are just giving their opinion. and i agree with you when it comes…
e. putting this as a spoiler just because it’s a bit long! hehe
To be fair, acting is Dunk’s job and his job stability ultimately relies on viewers. With things like acting, singing, performing, etc. it is impossible for the viewers to be passive because it impacts the overall work whether it’s a tv show, a song, a stage or whatever else. Dunk isn’t the best at acting. Hopefully he continues to put in work and improve. There is nothing wrong with saying that. In most jobs, if you don’t perform to the standard, usually you will be given additional training. I think it’s fair to say Dunk requires more training/experience.
If people find that an actor’s acting isn’t very good and it disrupts their immersion into the film or decreases the enjoyment of watching, naturally they will say something. 99% of the comments here that are criticising Dunk’s acting aren’t actually rude at all—and actually there are even many comments saying he is doing better than expected/better than he has done before.
Another way to look at it is that acting is an art; there is almost nothing in this world more subjective than art BUT there are still principles and techniques that do tend to—objectively—improve the standard of the art. This is the same in painting, the same in acting, the same in singing. It doesn’t mean you ALWAYS have to follow the “rules” but if you do, overall, your art will tend to be more hit than miss.
honestly as i was watching the ep 1 YT premier i was thinking… how uncut could the uncut version really be? like, it was already pretty daring (for a thai drama being released on YT) LOL so it makes sense that the first episode might not have any differences
i believe officially it has been said that the uncut version will be on iQIYI though so perhaps later episodes require YT censorship? we will see~
Fadel is out here side-eyeing Style like "Wow texting and driving? So irresponsible," while bro's main source…
also to Bison he’s like “mother taught us to only kill bad people” and then in that one scene where Style is annoying him he’s holding a knife like he wants to shut Style up… for good 🫣 sir, please, this is a Heart Burger
idk, do we know what the character age difference is? but honestly, i feel like often people who are younger can…
i know you weren’t but if there’s only a ~1 year age gap between them, it would make sense if joong doesn’t necessarily look older. but in ep 1 bison said they had the same dad/different mums so it could even be that they’re closer in age than that. did you also watch ep 1? it’s different because i already don’t mind fadel being older and bison being younger but i am curious about your perspective? i feel like it didn’t come across as jarring or anything! :)
My thoughts exactly. 😂 I've only ever seen people say he's beloved for his incredible acting, despite not being…
yup these are the kinds of comments i’ve seen too (questioning his appearance but never acting). i mean, he also does all of his own stunts/martial arts. like, he’s such a good and hard-working actor! but like you, i also don’t agree with people questioning his looks; he’s very handsome, really.
“particularly Cheng Yi, whose acting skills have been criticized by Chinese netizens, many of whom believe he…
anyway, the drama is good so far. it isn’t easy viewing though; definitely a lot of twists and turns, a lot of intricate plot points… you really have to pay attention! the only thing is that i wish it wasn’t dubbed!
“particularly Cheng Yi, whose acting skills have been criticized by Chinese netizens, many of whom believe he is valued solely for his looks”
LOL… what? is this actually a common sentiment? because his acting is obviously good and has been for many years now. hell, obviously so considering this was filmed 5 years ago. i thought he was regarded as a good actor? in fact, some Chinese comments i have seen have said he acts well even though his looks aren’t very special (which i don’t necessarily agree with either, for what it’s worth)

because the cover is so pretty i just assumed the cinematic editing would be good (which now that i think about it… is a strange leap to make anyway!)
I mean, “o my gash” how dare you suggest they’re the same person?🤭
