I usually don't shy away from dropping shows left and right but this one hurts.
I've tried to force myself to watch this until the end because I have been religiously waiting for it ever since the day it was first announced. But I just can't get any further than episode 9 and I stopped enjoying it after episode 5. Too many repititions, too many pointless flashbacks, too many missed opportunities. Not a single mention of Win's bisexuality, really? No therapy for Team about his trauma? I miss authenticity. I miss feeling the director truly cares about the characters. I miss chemistry in the ensemble cast as a whole.
I'm so sad it came to this. Maybe I'll pick it up again one day. For now, my interest is gone. Boun and Prem deserved better material to work with and a better production. Most of all, they deserved better directing. It's obvious they have both grown as actors, especially Boun, but they simply weren't given enough chances to properly show it off without the scene falling flat for whatever reason - lazy dialogue, lack of intention, becoming overly dramatic thus ineffective, etc. What a shame.
~Unpopular opinionI can get past the miscommunication plot, the side couples, the slow pace and the repetitive…
Omg this is one of my biggest issues with the show. In UWMA I found it mostly endearing but now I realize it only worked when Team was a supporting character. For a main character, it's not cute - just annoying.
Have you tried My school president? I was worried it will be cringy but its so damn good (and every episode has…
I'm intrigued, I will probably check it out. I actually wasn't a fan of Bad Buddy (controversial, I know!). Usually it's not logical what shows I like at all, it's just about whether I vibe with it or not.
It just hit me how empty my life will be once this show ends lol. Not because I think it's amazing or anything but because I've had it to look forward to for so long. For the first time in years I don't really have any BL I'm looking forward to at all. I've got some stuff on my list to check out but I'm not excited about anything.
The past few years have had SO much good stuff and there seems to be nothing upcoming that has potential to be as good.
What are some shows you are excited for?? I could really use some inspiration.
I'm so sorry but when I first saw the announcement of this I couldn't stop giggling. The fact that you'd see a completely ridiculous concept that Japan managed to make work against ALL odds (like 1 in a 10000 chance) and think Oh hell, I'll give it a shot too! is just too funny. I love the original Cherry Magic but it takes a certain kind of GENIUS directing and charisma of the cast to pull that plot off. (No hate intended!)
So, they took a scene that was hella sweet and romantic and playful and HOPEFUL in UWMA and made it completely angsty lol. I definitely prefer the original version, this seems like it's been made overly dramatic for the sake of ending the episode on a dark note. But at least I can tell from the preview for ep11 that the scene isn't ~over~ and will probably end with a reconciliation in the beginning of the episode. It brings a weird and annoying flow to the story whenever they do that but whatever.
If Team and Win don't sit down in the next episode and not only address the status of their relationship but also confirm it so there is exactly zero (0) doubt left they are in fact dating, someone willl have to catch these hands. I love them but enough is enough!
Episode three is my favorite and is what catapulted this drama straight to my #1 this year. I love everything…
I'm happy (and not surprised) I wasn't alone in being blown away by this episode. I'm almost kind of sad I can't experience it for the first time again!
One of the best episodes I've seen in any drama. The dialogue, the cinematography, the acting, everything about…
Same here! I literally can't remember the last time I've been that gripped. Had to come here and sing its praises. The show is great overall but that episode was in a league of its own in my opinion.
Episode 3 is literally perfection as a stand-alone episode. During the entire fight/confession scene my heart was in my throat. What a couple of brilliant young actors.
Who is going to initiate the petition for a spin-off about Milk and Uncle running the cafe together??? An adorable romance between a broody cat-reincarnation and an actual ray of sunshine... for gods sake it writes itself!
This is not my favourite show, not by far (I think the writing is even kind of bad at times) but there is just something so MAGNETIC about Shu Yi and Shi De. I can't explain what it is but their chemistry is incredible, magical almost. The casting director really hit the jackpot. That's why I find it extremely rewatchable, perhaps more so than any other show, actually.
