life goes on

The red string of fate concept makes another comeback in this movie. This movie felt more than the typical coming of age movie, it addressed the reality of how some people come and go in our lives. Things in our life don't pan out the way we wish oftentimes, and things such as right person wrong time is what makes life life. Both actors are great, I love Nana Komatsu and Suda Masaki is equally talented and charismatic of an actor. The fact that both of them have been married for a while makes the movie even more satisfying to watch haha.

I did end up crying a few times here and there throughout the film, there are some scenes where it's just so beautiful, heartbreaking, and realistic at the same time. Most parts of the film are just really cinematically pleasing and calming. A lot of the camerawork showed wide landscape pans, and I noticed they often match what Nana wears to the landscape, which makes everything even more intentional and beautiful. I'd recommend this movie to everyone who loves a good slice of life movie that isn't afraid to show the process of life and growth.

first love nostalgia

This has been on my watchlist since I first saw the trailer in 2022 and love that they were inspired by Hikaru Utada's single from 1999. I've listened to the soundtrack before watching this series and it just fits the overall setting, situation, and theme so well. I thought this was so cinematically beautiful, the timeline progressed so well, the flashbacks between past and present-day yae and harumichi. Everything was so beautiful and nostaligic at the same time, my heart fluttered a LOT during the scenes in the past (the one scene at the rooftop of the school where they're both listening to the First Love record player)

In the end when Yae is listening to the CD player with Tsuzuru and her memories start flashing back...literally in tears. I had to replay that part multiple times. Can't imagine losing an entire piece of your youth storyline and forgetting about the most important person to you, starting new as if that part of your life never existed. It was a pretty chaotic ride but it was played out in the most calm and collected way possible. Such a great cinematic masterpiece and I hope to see more future films from this Yuri Kanchiku.

I'm giving this a 9.5/10 because I wish it wasn't this short and I wanted more scenes of them in the past.

one of the best survival series

I've watched the other shows with similar plotlines such as Sweet Home and All of Us Are Dead etc. so Duty After School had a synopsis that piqued my interest. The plot moves slow and fast at the same time. Slow as in, the character development is pretty lacking, but fast, in a way that so MUCH happens in one episode. So much changes per episode yet there's not really an explanation for such big changes. One thing I felt lacking in storytelling was how fast some of them learned to weld firearms and shoot, however, their mentality was still just as immature and frustrating as before. (just a few character though) The pack is constantly moving and there's a lot of killing/gore lol.

Overall, the drama was great, it kept me on the edge of my seat (quite literally) the entire time and it was interesting enough for me to complete in one day. I developed a big crush for the commander sergeant,, maybe i just like tsunderes LOL. But the ending was pretty unfortunate and the kids are all good kids (for the most part) so I enjoyed watching the show.

It was kind of hard to keep track of who was who in the beginning because there were so many characters, but it was interesting how they really separated each character and we got to know their personalities throughout the episodes. My favorite characters were Kim Chiyeol (Kimchi), Soo Cheol, Na ra, and JangSoo. I eventually started liking everyone towards the ending but some were truly a struggle ._.

bittersweet slow burn

This has instantly become one of my favorite jmovies. Once I was able to completely grasp the time traveling concept, it became super bittersweet but it was still beautiful. The concept is so creative and well thought out, I think something about it not being a perfect happy ever after is what makes it so perfect. My heart broke after the midway point when Emi revealed to Takotoshi the truth about the future them and how the times are reversed for eachother. honestly a slow burn. Some tears were shed but I honestly knew what I was signing up for, except I didn't know how well thought out and well-executed the plotline was.

Nothing surprising from Nana's top tier acting :) Fukushi Sota was also super suited for the role so the casting was 10/10 for me. (he kind of resembled Kai from exo in the beginning lol) OST was really good as well. Overall, really recommend this movie if you're down to watch something incredibly cinematic and beautiful but sad at midnight haha.

strange but calm

The movie didn't leave a huge impact on me nor is it very memorable. I don't recall the small details even right after watching nor do I feel like there was ever a climactic moment of the journey (if there is one). The events that take place within the plot are incredibly subtle, even up till the last few moments. There doesn't seem to be an end resolve either, it just IS. This review probably doesn't make sense however, the film itself has it's own color and it's own vibe that is consistent throughout. I think that's one of it's strengths that kept me watching. Although it's incredibly slow and anticlimactic, there's something about the calmness that draws me in.

a reason to live

like the title suggests, this movie is definitely a tear-jerking one and that's not a spoiler. After the midway point I was just trying not to tear up every 5 minutes. The movie definitely gets you thinking about life and the beauty of living life to it's fullest. It also gets you thinking about death, how nobody is truly prepared for when the time comes. Overall the film is so sad but so beautiful. I appreciate how the screenwriters kept it real up until the end.

Nana Komatsu and Kentarou are pretty solid, veteran actors so there's definitely no disappointment in the acting. The OST was so beautiful as well (radwimps..what could go wrong). Overall highly recommend if you're up for some super heartbreaking content. (preferably not in the middle of the night though) ^^

fluffy romcom

I was looking for a drama that gave off the light-hearted romcom feeling but also something that wasn't your typical main leads. This drama was exactly that. I appreciate how they made the female lead so human, it felt more natural and realistic. Like a normal person, she struggles with her job, she has financial obstacles, and she is also incredibly open to new possibilities and meeting new people . Those are some points I really liked out of the FL. As for the ML, quite literally everything about him is pretty ideal, there's hard to find flaws lol.

Onto the plot...the flow was pretty good up until episode 8 ish. It started to feel really slow afterwards...the progression of the relationships between characters was fairly slow and at some point it felt like we only saw the tip of the iceberg. Cha Eunho and Kang Danyi are really good characters on their own however I just felt like the plot was getting lost after a few episodes. I really wanted to hear more about the backgrounds of the side characters and the other editors on the team as well. The chemistry between the two second leads came off pretty strong, almost stronger than when the two main leads were together.

Acting/Cast= 10/10 OST is amazing

"a most beautiful but sad memory"

I read the webtoon prior to watching the series and it was 10/10. I'm glad that the webdrama did the original justice because everything from the plotline to the characters were so well conveyed. I don't have any complaints, except for the fact that I wished that the ending didn't have to be so heartbreaking. It's pretty obvious that HaMin wasn't coming back but it felt like a slow burn and a emotional climax at the end.

Bomi and Jinyoung's relationship development is so cute, unexpected couples >>>>> The acting was also 10/10 I'm pretty surprised at how accurate the characters were, especially Sunhee and Jinyoung. Looking forward to season 2 if they plan to continue the webdrama series~

remarkable school thriller

I was pretty hooked after the first few episodes so I ended up binging the entire series in one sitting. This series gave a similar resemblance to Class of Lies where it's about solving the murder of a classmate and rewinding on the backstories of each character.

The plot was really intriguing I'd say up until the second to last episode. The scriptwriters did a goodjob of keeping it suspenseful and mysterious however, as I've read some of the other comments. the ending felt way too rushed and cliche in comparison to the level it was at in the beginning. The main characters became almost supplemental at the very end, and the ending wasn't satisfactory because it was way too open-ended.

However, there are a lot of great qualities to the series, the supporting characters all did a really good job, everything seemed convincing and I couldn't really predict what was going to happen next. It kept me on the edge for the most part. The soundtrack went really well with the mood, I appreciated the main theme song. Impressive acting from both leads, Solomon Park is so cute lol.

I'd recommend this series if you're into school thriller and mystery.

calming and realistic

Recently been into the calmer and day-to-day life genre and this drama was exactly that. The plot doesn't have a lot going on, the frame of time takes place within the span of a few months. Overall the drama felt therapeutic for me, it was comforting although I did shed a few tears along the way in some episodes.

Plot is mainly about how the ML (who became deaf) reconnects with people of his past and there's a lot of complicated factors and barriers that each character needs to overcome. I liked all the characters, there's no one really to dislike, however, I don't think that Minato's reason in breaking up with Aoba was reasonable ._. they were honestly a pretty good pair already but anyways~ I'd recommend this series. Acting 10/10 and soundtrack 10/10 as well :)

slow paced childhood friend turned to lovers

A pretty wholesome and light series that shows the "best friend" compatibilities of the two main leads. Their relationship is honestly goals and they're always so wholesome towards eachother but they're love is quite literally unrequited all the time. The drama can be pretty frustrating for those who don't like waiting for the relationship developments. They're so obviously suited for one another but there are so many obstacles and the timing is always off. It's a good patience tester lol.

I personally enjoy the slower-paced dramas and don't mind the flow. As I found the other side characters and second leads pretty unnecessary and annoying, I really enjoyed the scenes where the main leads are just enjoying eachother's presence and catching up with eachother. The way they cheer for one another is super wholesome *^* I do like the male lead more than the female lead because she's not exactly the smartest character and she's always one step behind (and always chasing her ex smh)

The casting is really on point. Love both actors <3 the soundtrack was also pretty catchy by the end
I'd recommend this drama to anyone who likes the childhood friends turned lovers genre and calmness of middle aged romance

so touching and wholesome

Not going to lie, going into the first few episodes, I thought it was super depressing and hated how sanha's father got away with his abuse towards his family and even In Sook's grandma. However, as I continued on from the second episode, I realized how intricate the drama was.

I loved everyone's side story; the relationship between the 3 main girls, In Sook and WooCheon's relationship development, and the environment at the hospice. It was honestly really sweet and moments like these were able to distract me from the heaviness that some of the other scenes contained.

The concept of "sweet escape" left me lowkey anxious because I knew that even though they were safe for the time being they were being chased by time, the police, and so many things that were built up from their past. (the two main leads).

Honestly, I'm pretty sure there was not a single episode where I didn't cry. It's so bittersweet and you can't help but feel the emotional damage after certain characters pass. I think this drama allowed me to accept death, as unimaginable as it is, I felt like I was growing and also mentally preparing alongside the characters for the passing of another.

Overall, I really loved the vibes, the pacing is relatively slow in a good way. The actors did amazing (a few familiar faces here and there but some new faces). The OST is on point, it matched so well, I'm binging the soundtrack for sure.

I'd recommend this drama if you would like to sit down and watch something that is both peaceful but heavy at the same time. Prepare yourself and some tissues on the side :)

the calm i needed this summer

I find myself immersed and drawn to slow-paced dramas, not ones that go nowhere of course, but ones that make you sit back and reflect on life. I enjoyed how realistic and raw the feelings portrayed in this series were. I didn't feel bittersweet or touched most of the time, in fact, I was kind of dreading the relationship timelines since I thought something was going to fall apart any moment. But this is oftentimes the reality, you are intrigued by somebody and yet you're not sure why, you seek validation yet you desire to be loved.

I loved how there were multiple mains and multiple storylines, each situation was so different but so relatable. As the drama progressed I found myself adoring the characters (esp. Gu)

OST 10/10
Casting 10/10 (love how everyone portrayed the characters)
Ending was not the happy ever after that most people would expect but definitely fulfilling and calming. (overall a great closing)

Highly recommend this series :)

heartwarming family drama

This was probably the best drama i've seen all year. So endearing and wholesome family dynamic (the main family of 5). The dynamic between the 5 family members is so heartwarming and there were so many emotional scenes. This series definitely made me emotionally invested, the plot, characters, and acting were all superb.

Speaking of casting, SongWeiLong has been one of my favorite actors for a long time but I have never seen the other two main leads. I loved the casting as well as the super natural sibling/family dynamic. The sibling bond between the three is so strong it makes me envious T^T The characters were so well-written and everything was an emotional rollercoaster. I'd be laughing my head off in one scene and be sobbing so hard within minutes of the next scene.

I definitely recommend this drama to those who are looking for some quality character development, family bonding, and romance content. I'm super glad that I finally binged this series and I highly recommend watching it. The OST is by far one of the best I've heard yet.

This drama also represents a handful of Chinese family dynamics, which is always appreciated, it has a lot of relation to Chinese culture and the way that we are brought up as children. I think that this is what really makes this drama special--aside from the character relations and ever-changing plot. This drama is similar to the kdrama Reply series but also highlights a lot of Chinese cultural differences which is always eye-openiing.

HUUUGE props to the director, screenwriter, cast, and production team. this is definitely deserving 10/10 stars. one of the best acting as well as screenplay i've seen in so long~

very basic zombie series but great actors

Just by watching the trailer by itself I already assumed that it will be your typical zombie invasion drama where friends go through several obstacles and friendship tests,,, kinda nailed that assumption :) Besides being a pretty basic zombie theme series, the acting itself is quite impressive. Despite the kind-of cliche and fairly predictable plotline, the actors were super well casted.
Suhyeok and Namra definitely carried this series, both were level-headed characters that had good morals and were never rash with their actions--exactly what you need in zombie movies! finally !!!! the others---were pretty frustrating at times lol
Since they shot this in a school setting, I could feel the small slice-of-life/highschool romance moments, which were pretty refreshing. It was a good reminder that the setting/mcs were in highschool and despite being in a middle of chaos, by portraying their youthful feelings, it was somewhat realistic ..
Although the series didn't blow my mind completely nor did it leave a big impression, I am curious to see what the production will. bring to the second season if they ever release one.
The casting was really good, once again, and if you're into action/thriller especially zombie gore, this is the right series for you to binge.
