Rewatching SY and ZY scenes together. I'm on episode 13 and I understand why they got Ren Min as FL. The FL's character is headstrong, unruly, persistent, tenacious, and constant. And also some rebelliousness in her. Ren Min, the actress, totally has that look. Like I'm thinking if they had cast another actress who looks sweet, like girl next door. It wouldn't work. Imagine if the put Bai Xue Ying actress as Zhu Yan. Wouldn't work. Has to have that look never surrender look.
I know I said Im out of the TLP rabbit hole already. But I’m not.
I just want to emphasize again how much I appreciate the way the story effectively showed how it was always only going to be SY and ZY. From the very beginning when the met as children to spending time together as master/student. It was always going to be them. As much as she is his calamity, she is also his fated one. I love these types of stories.
Sure there was Zhi Yuan and Bai Xue Lu and the other groom that died. But they were mere distractions. Tools for our ML and FL to get together. It just took FL longer to realize that she loved SY. Which I can totally understand. He is her shifu. He is beautiful, kind, powerful and smart. And plus their master student relationship. And in the earlier episodes he would push her away or create this barrier between them. How can she in her wildest dreams even think that he would desire her.
Even as children, she was already attracted to SY as the crown prince. With that one meeting, he had been in her heart for five years. She only had that one desire in her life to bring him back. And when she became SY student, SY replaced that hole the prince left in her heart and became even more than that. She only wanted to spend the rest of her days in the mountain with Shifu.
Anyway, we all know what happens after. But at least she admitted to herself.. After that confrontation with SY wanting to kill 2ML. When she said what did I just say? It was such a big lie. How could I say it just like that. She finally realized that she likes shifu. I need to rewatch for the exact words.
So yes. Finally it’s out that she does like him too. ❤️❤️❤️
I’m starting a rewatch. I need to some happy togetherness after coming from The Longest Promise. This kinda reminded me. Not exactly shifu but more mentor type.
It’s not exactly perfect but has rewatch value thanks to Wang Kai and Seven Tan.
