Major Spoiler Alert!!

This is not the typical high school drama. The story line is definitely tricky because it has to do with an "overweight" girl and what you consider to be attractive ("fat" vs. "skinny"). It's no doubt a sensitive topic for many viewers. But I'm not sure what the skinnier version of the FL really had to do with the drama. She appears here and there as an inner voice for the FL and we see her at the end, but to be honest, I didn't really know why she was there. The "overweight" FL was cute, put together, had friends, and she came across as being a "normal" student that faced being bullied for her weight in a brave manner. She liked the ML and wasn't afraid to talk to him or hang out with him (although I really couldn't find the chemistry between them). BUT 10 years later, the skinnier version of her wasn't any braver, seemed nothing like what she was like in high school, and looked SO sad. What happened to the adult FL in the 10 years since high school to make her lose that much weight. I never got the sense that she was obsessed with her weight to begin with. There was such a disconnect between the younger FL and older FL.

The drama spent so much time in high school (barely any time as an adult) that I didn't understand their adult versions. I just knew the FL went on a ton of blind dates (no idea why since she was so pretty). There seemed to be no personal growth for either the FL and ML beyond high school and no happy ending for ANY of them (the leads or any of the side characters). It's like the writer's decided that once high school ended, all connections would end too.

The last scene in the car, literally looked like something that would happen in the middle of a 24 episode drama, instead of the end of a 12 episode series. I was left wondering if there was a season 2 and if not, how depressing. I don't know... I'm at a loss.

The trailer looked so good!! I love both leads and with their matching dimples, I was super excited. They both give off the same vibe... good looking, aloof, quiet, small chip on their shoulder, not to be messed with, but loyal and faithful to each other and their friends.

I loved the first half like everyone else. Sweet, sincere, and heartwarming. I was hoping (I’m sure like others) that the second half would be different especially after reading all the reviews. I didn’t mind the change to shooting and seeing ML pursue his true passion. It was more interesting at least for me, than watching silver jewelry being made. But at some point, after episode 25 when drama should have ended and I’ve already tolerated FL’s overbearing mother, medical troupes, and a jealous/spiteful apprentice… suddenly there’s more?! New villains and more problems. The time spent with the other couples, especially the brother storyline felt like I was watching a new drama. I ended up fast forwarding through their very long parts.

If drama had kept up with the romance between the leads maybe I would have been more forgiving of the added troupes. It wasn’t that the leads didn’t have chemistry… it was that they seemed stuck in a high school relationship (minimal hugs or physical contact). The intense gazes were there and the ending monologues let us know they were in it forever, but I’m sure we were all thinking the same thing… “just hug already!!” The affection that naturally comes with being a couple was missing and so unfortunate. It turned this drama into more of a melodrama than a sweet romantic one.

Oh and the ending… Sigh. ML knows FL carries her own burdens and I’m guessing unless there’s a season 2, writers are saying they’ll figure it out since they’re destined to be together. Which I actually do believe… 30 episodes of problem after problem…breaking up was never an option. I’m sure they’ll be fine in the future!! I watched a you tube video of the director/producer person who seemed big on young people chasing their dreams. I’m guessing this maybe the reason for the “happy open ending”?!?! They’ve still got a lot of dreams to chase?! ?

Overall, I don’t know what to rate this. I don’t regret watching because they are some of my favorite actors and they probably did what they could with the script and direction they were given. But it was a bummer given how good the chemistry was between the leads.

It’s uphill after the first 2 episodes!!

The first episode I was ready to drop it. The FL was unbearable and I thought there was no way I could sit through 24 episodes of her! But I looked at some of the comments and most readers said it gets better after episode 3 and they were right! FL’s character development came quick and she went from awful to normal and to pretty likeable. ML I adored as the handsome introverted prince with his perpetual pout and eyes that could never hide his true feelings. I liked the chemistry between the leads and although there were the typical troupe misunderstandings, they didn’t last too long.

The last few episodes did get frustrating for me. SFL had too much screen time compared to the FL and the storyline seemed to get drawn out. I’m a total HE drama watcher and this one I guess is a kind of sort of HE so I’m sort of satisfied!!

This drama was a good watch … definitely surpassed my expectations considering how low the bar was after the first episode!! If you can get to episode 3 or 4, I think you’re good to go.

I liked this drama at times and other times it got so draggy I really wanted to drop it.... but right as I was going to drop it, the actors delivered a great scene that kept me watching. It took me a while to see the chemistry between the ML and FL and it wasn’t until the middle that they finally drew me in. There were some sweet moments and I liked the change in ML’s character as the drama progressed.

I had a hard time with the FL though, because she had SO many people “protecting” her and looking out for her (ML, dad, best friend, crazy sidekick) that she lost her credibility as a strong and independent woman. She came across as being incapable and always needing to be taken care of. FL didn’t want to be deceived by the ML and gave him such as hard time, yet she had no idea she was being deceived and lied to by her crazy sidekick. The kicker was when she praised crazy sidekick for taking care of her when she was at her lowest.... yet he was the reason for her pain. Sigh. I don’t know if she ever figured that one out.

Overall, I think this would have probably been a good 24 episode drama... the fast forward button helped but 40 episodes was just too long.

The premise for the drama sounded good but the plot itself was confusing and lacking. The ML seemed to work the hardest in carrying this drama with his humor/antics and relentless pursuit of the FL. The FL remained absolutely stoic and one note until the very end... I can’t even think of a scene where she smiles. She just looked more tired with every episode and more annoyed at the ML. The little romance the leads had fizzled out early on and when the FL finally acknowledged her feelings in the end, it was anti climatic and not believable (she acted like such a jerk towards him the entire time). It was hard to root for her or care about her when she treated the ML so poorly.

This drama was definitely more of an adventure story than a romance. I stuck it out till the end just hoping for some chemistry between the leads, but FL remained stony faced and emotionless.

I was so excited for this drama. FL is gorgeous and I’ve always loved her work. ML is easy on the eyes and I was excited to see him in a lead role. But this drama couldn’t seem to decide what it wanted to be. The intro song and scene made it seem like this was going to be a mature and sultry drama …. but in reality it was tame with a lot of interrupted almost kisses. At times this drama seemed more like a rom com and other times it wanted to be more risqué with sexy dresses and pool scenes …. but none of it seemed to add anything to the drama, The FL dressed and walked with confidence and seemed like an independent woman, yet she didn’t speak up around ex-boyfriend. There was one too many exes and one too many supporting couples… I felt bad but ended up fast forwarding through their very predictable parts.

What kept me watching was the chemistry between the leads. They did have sweet moments, although I couldn’t help but feel like they were both holding back and just acting out scenes. Maybe because I’ve watched FL’s other dramas where her chemistry with other ML’s were off the chart and unquestionable. In the end though, I did like how the leads stuck together once they got together and didn’t break up. I can’t bring myself to rate this lower than a 7… If you love the leads, I think you’re good to go… with the help of the FF button…

I enjoyed this one a lot! Maybe it’s because I’ve watched too many dramas lately with evil 2ML/2FL, deceptive siblings, and manipulative co-workers. This drama was refreshing with a solid cast that didn’t always get along but the reasons behind their actions made it okay.

ML, I’m a new fan. Handsome, charming, and charismatic, he made me smile and cry and not want to FF his scenes. He was younger than FL but show didn’t make it an issue. ML was competent and respected and I loved that! FL captivated me too. She portrayed her quiet inner turmoil well, making me root for her. It did get a little long towards the end… I wanted to see more change in her.. although I guess she is who she is till the end.

The change in racing threw me off. It would have been nice to see them finish their original goal… although I know nothing about racing and I can see people questioning how accurate it was portrayed. I’m guessing not very accurate.

My biggest con though was the business scenes and too many characters trying to speak English with too many accents. I cringed with every new speaker… except James Lee… although sadly his perfect English suddenly seemed out of place. The flow was lost and in real life, there’s no way they understood each other. I barely got it with subtitles and then not really ?. Wish these dramas would stop forcing it when it comes to speaking English.
It’s not impressive when it’s that broken… imo.

Overall, I did like it and thought it was a fun watch!

2 separate dramas in 1

The first half of this drama was SO good. I was hooked from the beginning and loved the pacing and story line. The ML and FL were a perfect match and from the first episode, there was no question about their chemistry. The friendship between the 3 ladies was refreshing and I looked forward to seeing where their journey would take them.

What threw me off and became a struggle was the second half of the drama. The ML and FL's time together always seemed short and fragmented. A misunderstanding that lasted for NINE episodes in which the ML is barely getting screen time was disappointing and confusing. He was suppose to be one of the main leads right?! I was expecting the ML and FL to be a power couple with their smarts and wit to defeat the evil doers, but it became a drama about managing a restaurant and ruthless business men. The CP was what made this drama so special... without it, this became another drama completely.

If I had to do it again, I would watch again. The first half is that good...at until episode 27...then I'd skip to 31 or 33 and then to 36. But even then, if you're looking for your CP to actually get time together, you're probably better off jumping to the last episode.

I don't usually write reviews for every drama... if I do it's either because it was just too good to not write something or because it left me feeling unsettled and wanting more. This drama would be in the second category!! I actually did love most of this drama. The chemistry of the cast was amazing, the story line was realistic and thought out, the friendships were genuine, the food was amazing, and just everything came together so well to tell an amazing story.

It was the last 1/3 of the drama that started to get long and frustrating. I know every FL has her flaws but in this 20 episode journey, there should have been some character growth for these ladies. Xia Meng 's lying was too much and she was sorry but not sorry. It's a bummer when you stop rooting for the FL and actually think the guy deserves better. I don't think she learned anything from her lies...she was sad because she got caught and he broke up with her, but placed in a similar situation, I think she would do the same thing.

Liu Jing who is super undecisive is STILL that undecisive at the very end... which made me go ....What?!? There should be some personal growth in that area especially if you're dating a man with a little girl (who by the way is an amazing little actress). The scenes with her parents made me cringe and fast forward (oh the hysteria and crying) although I know that's cultural and I just don't quite understand the control parents have over their kids.

Fang Xin was probably the only one that had some character growth by re-entering the work force and growing into a stronger, independent woman. I actually wish there were more scenes with her and her ML since that relationship was the most sincere and genuine one. I would watch a whole drama with those two as the leads! They didn't get as much time together compared to the other couples, which made Fang Xin's reveal at the end even more confusing since drama didn't show them progressing that quickly. For me it didn't quite fit in her story line even with the whole bread vs love analogy.

In the end, I liked this drama but was sad when it ended because it felt like there should have been more... more personal growth, more depth to their characters, and more time for Fan Xin and her handsome baker!!

I actually really liked this drama!

I saw a trailer of it and was drawn to the ML. He’s not the typical “pretty” lead who has better skin and features than the FL!! But I liked that he was more masculine and handsome in a rugged and “cool” way. The chemistry between the leads was convincing and the romance was sweet and sincere. I was impressed by the ML’s acting skills and liked that the ML realized FL was a female early on, as opposed to other dramas where the FL’s identity drags on forever. The comedy in this drama was well done and the funny moments were enhanced by the OST and special effects. Who knew rock music in a historical drama could work so well... it was awesome and made me laugh every time!

This drama may not be for everyone. I think you have to like the slapstick type of comedy but I thought it was a fun and very easy watch. I’d definitely love to see more of the ML!!

Well…. Where to start. I was excited to start this drama given the seasoned actors. But it wasn’t quite what I was expecting. There’s no real angst in this drama… any angst is short lived or so questionable that I’d spend an episode trying to figure out what is wrong with the leads and writing my comments on Viki, only to delete them so I’m not being too negative… after all it is almost Christmas!!

Initially, I thought the writers were supporting independent and confident women… but then it seemed more like reverse psychology . I’m suddenly sympathizing with the men who are at home cleaning the ladies’ apartments, apologizing for everything, and basically groveling half the time. Was this done on purpose? All the ladies, including the BFF whose sudden transformation was hard to buy into were SO high maintenance . It was overboard.

For such experienced actors, this drama seemed stilted. I FF’d through moments that really shouldn’t have been cringey but sadly there were a lot of those moments. But overall it was ok I guess. Probably lower than at 6.5 but I feel bad for the men so to not further beat them down I’ll leave it at a 6.5!!

SO GOOD!!! I have to admit I wasn't sure about this drama. I knew nothing about the ML and k-pop artist turned actor made me hesitant, but I had no idea he was a child actor with lots of acting chops. I love FL's work and the two of them together brought us a SUPER sweet and endearing drama that on these rare occasions made me think 24 episodes was just too short. Youth dramas are hard to do especially with so many out there. But this one did it well with a very down to earth FL who is completely herself... sweet, adorable, sassy, smart, and not going to be bullied by anyone. ML played his part perfectly because who doesn't like a guy whose good looking, smart, loyal, confident with a little bit of green, and unwavering till the end. I loved the chemistry between the ML and FL and the progression from high school to college and then adulthood and little bit more.

The parents in the drama were hilarious. They brought about an element of comedy and unexpected that I think only seasoned actors can do. The side characters were all likeable too and fun to watch a drama where friends supported each other, even the ones that aren't your instant best friends.

Overall, I loved this. It left me happy yet so sad when it was over.

I love both leads and waited for all the episodes to come out so I could watch to my hearts content! But by episode 20… I realized why so many said this was one episode too many. The leads had chemistry… but at least for me… not enough. It fizzled out and I actually found myself getting annoyed by FL’s cutesy-ness. ML was the typical stoic man of few words… only sometimes he was too stoic when she was trying to be too cute. FL didn’t seem to change much in 10 years and she was almost too understanding and too perfect with ML’s absence and profession I love her character so much more in Go Ahead.

The flashbacks would have been so much better early on instead of at the end. I would have loved more of the second CP and watched their story to the end. I’ve seen other dramas where they do a ML perspective but it’s short and sweet and totally works. This one… I sadly FF through even though it was the last episode.

Overall I think if you love the leads.. like A LOT, then you’re good to go!! If you just mid-like them then drama is just too long.

Sigh. What a bummer. I was so excited to watch this drama but found myself more and more frustrated with every episode. This drama is suppose to be a romance… at least I thought so… but it didn’t deliver. FL was so cold and insincere… she bailed on ML, didn’t seem to have any real remorse for ghosting him for 2 years, and was always bickering, scolding, or yelling at him! I can’t count the number of times she pushed him away and I’m still not sure why since she liked him. What little chemistry the leads had fizzled out and it became a chore watching them in whatever undefined relationship they were suppose to be in. The last straw for me was when FL answered her phone during ML’s romantic proposal. I mean… who does that?!

FeiFei…oh FeiFei….20 episodes of crying and whining because her guy has amnesia! He has amnesia!!! Shouldn’t HE be more upset than you?! Why would you make him drink so much he’s hospitalized for alcohol poisoning?! If that’s love, run away!! Her selfishness and self-centeredness was just too much and not justifiable considering what he was going through.

I won’t start on the 3rd couple… although Li Ming was the only one I liked. ..:Drama should have just ended at season 1…

Not quite the fluffy drama

A time lapse drama is tricky because it really has to be done well to keep viewers engaged and invested. This drama focused mainly on 2007 (high school) and gave us 5 minute clips of 2015 (post college) at the end of each episode. The problem was 2015 became more interesting than 2007. The 2007 time period was just too slow...30 minute episodes that should typically go by really fast seemed to drag on forever, which was such a bummer.

This wasn’t the light and fluffy drama I was expecting either... in actuality it was more melancholic, with an air of sadness and regret. The leads were both likeable and there was chemistry between them...but the same misunderstandings piled up. The FL moved so slowly and talked so slowly and always seemed so sad and burdened...she did seem to have some inner strength and resilience, but when she described herself as dull... I couldn’t help but agree. I enjoyed ML and for a newbie I liked his acting and thought he was charismatic and played his role well.

The end project that brought them all back together in 2015 also didn’t make much sense. If they had all been part of a fine arts school or were trying to save the school by raising money that would be one thing ....but the showcase (which they never even showed) was to help the ballerina girl .... who I never rooted for because I could never figure out her true intentions. Maybe I missed something here...

At the end of the day, I stuck around mainly to watch the ML's story play out (with the help of the fast forward button). I'm thankful this drama had a HE...that was it's redeeming factor.
