Oh I love this actress Wang Chu Ran. Her performance in Royal Feast was very memorable to me. It makes me interested in this drama. I didn't realize she's only 25. She has such an elegant looking face; Chinese style classical beauty, she could play a goddess with her looks. (She's 5'8", not bony looking, and has a nice figure.)

In the original novel, HT was even more matter of fact but there were moments that revealed how HT was falling for her. The writer of the original novel on the one hand avoided writing about HT's feelings and emotions while lavishly writing about JX's feelings and emotions, yet the writer also made them bump into each other all the time especially in the elevator so that they had emotionally charged moments and there were moments in the novel that explicitly described Han Ting's emotions falling for her. I recall a moment when he went to his nephew's bar and while the nephew was showing him his operation and then suddenly HT saw JX sitting alone in the bar, and all his senses perked up, the novel was describing his feelings in very sensual way, which was rare moment for the writer to describe Han Ting's feelings. Then later she was drunk, and he was holding her on the ground and people were passing by, again, the writer exposed his sensual feelings for JX. In the drama, they replicated that scene when HT was in the backseat of the car with the drunken JX, the way JX barfed and slumped over him, and the way he was looking and feeling and sensing her body on him reminds me a lot of how the writer in the novel described HT senses. HT is different in the novel because he is 8 yrs. older than JX (in the novel, it's more the feeling of the movie Roman Holiday with Audrey Hepburn (24) and Gregory Peck (37) which is odd, that's one of the things JX had on her list of things to do with HT is to watch that movie), and there was no college crush or loss of parents or that JX gave him the stuff animal, all these thing changed some of the dynamics; however, I still can feel the essence of HT and JX in the drama because they kept so many of the lines from the novel and followed the novel pretty closely, but mostly, the actors did a great job. I do feel the same feeling of love between HT and JX. The success of the drama was completely carried by the leads. The director did a great job. The drama version is just as good as the novel, in some ways, better. I don't think drama viewers would like JX in the novel - I can just hear the haters if they made JX exactly like the novel. There are so many amazing scenes in the drama cannot get from a novel.
I get it you're a bl fan, they alway accused xk fans of bullying bl, when it's the opposite they can't accept…
Here's your comment: *No ML/FL chemistry. I dont know where the problem lies. Maybe Kai keeps getting handed FLs that dont mesh well with him. Maybe he has a really hard time letting go in front of the camera. Maybe hes RL gay. But whatever it is, this is another flat Kai Soso performance, lacking sexual chemistry, passion, and depth.
*Flat ML performance. Kai is good in some situations and dramas, but this isnt one of those dramas. Its impossible to distinguish the difference between his "straight man" character, or just his limited acting ability.
This is what you wrote for SOKP: "I am a vampire freak, who loves romances when they are dark, slow-burn, supernatural,…
Of course, some people can like both chocolate and vanilla and some people can like dark stuff and pure stuff. It's perfectly fine to hate this drama. My only issue is that comment you have in your review, but you explained I took it the wrong way.
In my opinion, I think Cheng He realized something that it is better to focus on his own business, the industry…
In the scene HT went to see ZD (this is the scene where JX saw HT go in and became jealous). HT tells ZD that he's sent the transfer agreement to her to transfer his shares of Guanghsa to her. She feels that he is so cruel. As he gets up to leave, she says to him, "Has Ji Xing seen your resolute side?". That's the English translation. I interpreted it to mean has she seen this ruthless side of you. I believe this is foreshadowing of HT and JX breakup. Earlier, XYX also said to HT, "you're conflating business and love. Love is not pure." something like that. That was also foreshadowing of their breakup. But to get back to my point about ZD. ZD told Chang He she has followed HT since she was a kid, followed him to college, start a business in the same field, he invested in her business, etc. but he's never cared about her. Well, he's always been nice to her, just not in love. She said HT has always known how much she likes him. It's so complicated these two. Her grandfather is a very good buddy, maybe even best friend, with HT grandfather. The Han's treated her as family member and ZD in a way is an arranged marriage for HT, she can come and go in their place and even follow HT around and he puts up with her. HT has to be respectful of her otherwise, it'll make him look bad with his family since she hasn't done anything wrong publicly. Also, I think he's a nice man, as long as she doesn't violate his relationship with her, she can do whatever she wants around HT, and he is supportive of her and also uses her for his benefits. HT is always confident that things can work out his way because he can control every situation, and he has always been able to control ZD behavior toward him. The one thing he wouldn't allow ZD to follow him in Germany while he set up Germany R&D base partly because he doesn't need her, he's never seen her as capable, nor is she technical, but also because he doesn't want anyone to know what he's up to. But he still probably kept in touch with her since he invested in her company in China and went home from time to time. I'm sure she went to Germany to visit him too. Actually, Guangsha was HT's idea, and he just let her implement it for him. A part of me think HT should have cut her off long ago since he has no love interest in her and he knows how much she likes him and that she's only hanging around him for love. HT did make it clear to ZD that they can never be a couple. Perhaps he didn't realize how deep her obsession with him until JX came along. But this is the ruthless side of HT, he can separate business from relationships. If you know a woman is on to you, why do you still do business with her. Ji Xing was jealous seeing HT meet with ZD when he knows she likes him. HT tells JX he's finally cutting it off with her by transferring Guangsha shares to her (however, HT never does business for love. Guanghsha always a pawn to him, which makes ZD a pawn in his goals too. In a way, he sorts of not totally upfront with JX why he is cutting her off, he knew eventually he would kill Guangsha when he makes his Dr. Cloud database open source, but since ZD violated his terms with her that she cannot harm Dongyang or Xingchen, he cut her off sooner than later) In the same way, HT starts a relationship with JX and mixes business and love. He can separate the two, but JX cannot. Eventually, that will lead to a conflict with them too. HT always thinks he can control everything but when it comes to JX, he has never been able to control her. In an early episode, XYX alludes to that he's never seen anyone who could disrupt HT's business like she's doing and will become his nemesis. JX is not like ZD, she stands up for herself against HT and leaves him.
If you are sensitive to violence, torture and the like, during episodes 19 and 20 and also 27, be prepared. Open…
the scene where the lady gets fed to wild dogs or whatever wild ferocious animals they were, and then you hear the dogs probably gnawing while she screams is terrifying, or how about the scene where the fl wants to kill but since she can't kill him, instead she takes that big knife or whatever instrument it was and jabbing him all over his body like a madman is gruesome, but it sure captures one's attention.
I don't know how whoever reported this knows this kind of details, but I found it interesting that actors can work with directors to change their lines.
"XK understands what the audience wants to see and what they don't like. He knows that the audience doesn't like Mr. Boss greasy lines, so he will discuss with the director and make changes. After the change, it is not only really touching but also brings out HT's sense of superiority and oppression."
One of my favorite editors made an amazing 40-mins summary edit of ABAY and I thought I’d share it here. 😍https://youtu.be/NHuyxXAszpg
Did she do the subtitles herself? She already got 82K views in one day on ABAY. Looking at her selection of projects, she is a fan of many romance dramas and actors. Her rare comment about Xu Kai, "but he has a certain aura" shows she has a keen eye. Her comments on her other videos, she highly praised other actor's performances but didn't use "aura".
She wrote: "The brilliant acting of Xu Kai cannot go unnoticed here. I’ve seen a lot of his previous dramas, but he has a certain aura in this drama that makes him very attractive. He looked so handsome in all those business suits. Tan Songyun, as usual, is so natural and amazing in her character. The stunning chemistry between the main leads is the highlight of the drama. Nothing seems forced between these two and it felt wholesome to watch their romance evolve. You have to watch the special short mini episode as it’s one of the best happy ending I’ve seen."
Li Ni is the character in Wonderland of Love. His reaction the next morning was a fun scene to watch for me. The fl tells him last night is no big deal. He goes off to work daydreaming about last night with a lovestruck look on his face if his general didn't come by to wake him up from it. It's just so funny. HT and JX are obviously pros. Their next morning is business as usual. But Li Ni was much younger, maybe 20, a Romeo.
Finished it finally. What I hated about it: Story is standard boilerplate formulaic story that followed a predictable,…
This is what you wrote for SOKP: "I am a vampire freak, who loves romances when they are dark, slow-burn, supernatural, obsessive, angsty and passionate. I love stories with an ML who is red-flag, possessive, controlling, antihero, badass, or morally gray. I like stories about demons, devils, gumihos, legendary beings... you get the idea... and this ML is morally gray, controlling, manipulative, forceful. There is some throat-grabbing and forced kisses as well... He looks, talks, acts, and thinks just like a vampire. It just satisfies my vamp-cravings so perfectly."

Is it fair to assume ABAY is not your cup of tea?
