"TSY perfectly interprets the growth arc of Ji Xing. Xu Kai's public recognition has further improved in the field of urban dramas. In July, ABAY became another 'dark horse' in the summer breakout and ranked third in the Tencent Entertainment's Influential TV series ranking in July. TSY and XK performed brilliantly beyond expectations. TSY successfully interpreted the tenacious character and true growth arc during the transformation of identity. XK's refreshing and cold image and the shaping of the domineering temperament, the unique design of his movements, and the control of his expressions has established the domineering personality in a straightforward manner and the public recognition has been further improved. During the broadcast, 'dark horse potential' was hotly discussed, good quality, adult love, perfect tug-of-war, sweet but not greasy love, and the independent and sober values resonated with more viewers. The drama uses realistic romance to get rid of the homogeneity dilemma of contemporary idol dramas. "
Indeed. I think that the name was cooked up when she still thought she could have it all : her company + a spouse…
This drama did not make it to 28000 so XK did not sing. But I and someone else posted past videos of him singing. Are you looking for any link of his past singing? What about this posting?
Although the heat index did not exceed. 28k and we don't have chance to watch Xukai dance and sing, If anyone wonder how Xukai sings "under Mount Fuji" then here is his voice singing that song. https://www.facebook.com/share/r/N4iDu1v1GiNPDeQ2/? It seems that he sang that one on an public occasion and the original record had a lot of audience's noise. Thus, in the caption it is said that the fan noise was filtered out. The visual clip was cut from his recent show "travel random door" where he sang a short part of Leon Zhang's song which was written a day before inspired by the desert.
The two videos in the link below have a random non-Asian woman sharing her perspectives on ABAY. I'm really fascinated by people who have no Chinese background watch Chinese dramas because I think there are a lot of nuances of the culture and language that they cannot pick up. I'm impressed by this lady's understanding of the story and characters. I enjoy her analysis so far, still listening to it. She has so much to say. It shows that ABAY is not just a simple romcom but sits on a solid business story, the characters are complex, and the conflict has depth.
She started out by saying that "Xu Kai went from being a male lead in a romantic comedy into a 'leading man'. He has shown that he can do a romantic lead as a 'male lead'. ABAY restored my view on Chinese romcom and idol dramas this year, ABAY took it up a notch. The director did an amazing job showing the emotions between the two." She also says, "Xu Kai and Seven Tan are perfect chemistry for this show" and "Seven Tan is very wide ranging when it comes to her character she plays." She says this drama is still considered an idol show but it is not your typical idol dramas full of sugar, sugar, sweet, sweet only and that's all the viewer is chasing, even though there is sugar and sweet, but the story does not play on the sugar and sweet only but there is substance to the story (I'm impressed she made this point). I don't agree with her that HT is similar character to Yang Hua in SHPH and YZM in Best Choice Ever, and I'm not sure she meant it that way either. They're only similar in that they are intelligent, returned from abroad, business story, etc. but the characters are completely different with different background story, and portrayed with different mannerisms and personality.
I think what she's saying is that there is a difference between just being a lead and a true leading man which I thought was very well said and insightful. She gave a character analysis of JX conflict with HT. She felt the conflict in ep 31 had depth unlike other romcom or idol dramas.
I'm not sure I agree with all her analysis even though I enjoy listening to her perspective, like the speech. I don't think HT was explicitly confessing his love to her in front of everyone at the conference, and I'm not sure she meant it that way either. I don't believe the people at the conference knew what HT was talking about, but HT knew JX would know.
This lady's videos are an easy way to quickly run through the drama or get a better understanding of a scene, from her perspective though, if you don't mind spoilers.
#TanSongyun: When Geng Geng started, she became everyone’s first love, but at this, taking on these roles would be hard. #XuKai: It’s a talent, cause, no matter how old you are, you still got a very young and beautiful face. https://x.com/i/status/1820545104370868381
Indeed. I think that the name was cooked up when she still thought she could have it all : her company + a spouse…
good point! she did say that it was difficult to work for someone else and then if it didn't work out, then her career would suffer another setback. I also remember SZZ telling her that when she was in college, she was unrestrained and could do anything she put her mind to. Still, JX like so many others, until they actually do it, they really have no idea how incredibly hard it is. It takes young people like her who are not afraid and just plow ahead. Like she said to HT, when were in college, we just set our minds on a goal and don't think about anything else and just go for it. But it took HT to help her find her true self again, to HT's detriment since he wanted her to work for him.
I really love this story so much. I'm trying to go back over the drama slowly and to understand everything better. I love this story about AI and how to use it to improve people's lives. AI is the hottest topic in technology today and in decades to come.
I also love the romance story. Both HT and JX separately, and together, are complex and wonderful characters. JX is so emotional and spontaneous but I'm like that too so I can relate to her.
The Double is on Netflix and Disney too. The Double is definitely an addictive drama and will continue to grow its audience. Good for Wu Jinyan she's getting all this attention since Yanxi Palace. It's been a long time for her. Sometimes, it's not the actor acted better but it's the role and the director. She was perfect for the role and the role allow her to show her range of emotions. WJY has chemistry with younger men because she plays such strong and independent female characters.
ABAY viewership has slowed down a lot since end of July. I hope it can pick back up after the Olympics. If it can pick up 10M a day or 300M a month, it can still reach 3B by end of the year which is excellent and exceeded expectations already.
Edit: I meant period drama with xk and 7 Oh, for real that cast is actually filming a modern? I would love for…
Xu Kai has a soft spot for Wu Jinyan and Yang Mi. Days before their recent dramas, The Double and Red Moon Pact, aired, he went online to tell fans to watch their dramas.
Champion of what??? Did lyfs2 air on Hunan TV as well???I also think that promo is helpful to sustain hype .They…
yes, ABAY is a huge success during its 4 weeks of airing. It remains to be seen in the coming weeks and months if it can continue to accumulate record views.
If JX did not accept YC's money for her startup, then why did she still name it XingChen? YC keeps saying he's her biggest supporter, yet he doesn't really want her to do the start up. He was actually sad to hear about it. I didn't understand their conversation when he told her to think about their future and then he said, "maybe you have some other ideas?" I thought he was telling her to change her mind and focus on them instead of work. But she just smiled so I didn't know if JX understood what he was saying. Since JX knows YC is not supportive of her dream, why did it not affect her relationship with him?
HT thought he had everything under his control, but JX declines his offer. HT thought reminding her to return to her original goal would lead her to accept his offer but instead it led her to start up a company. Actually, HT's offer for her to work with Dr. Jiang who is in charge of the AI database Dr. Cloud. is an excellent opportunity and more interesting work than 3D printing.

Top drama of the week. There are two categories. Top Chinese Web drama and Top Chinese TV drama. ABAY and LYFS2 are both in the latter category and ABAY came up on top for last week.
Last Thursday, Marcus said it would be very close, but he still picked LYFS2 to be champion. So, the points are low for both dramas, but ABAY came out ahead to be champion top TV drama with only 525 points versus LYFS2 510 points. I wonder why the points nosedive for both dramas last week. The last few days is the slowest view count for ABAY. Could it have to do with the Olympics? The Tale of Rose is still #3 after two months.
