They can't repeat everything in a 80-chapter novel. The drama takes the key parts and weaves it into the drama and moves it along beautifully and also added to it.
In the novel, HT has no best friend like XYX to offer him personal advice especially about women. I think the drama created this to help the audience to know what Han Ting is thinking. Same with Li Li and Ji Xing. It's either that or the character thoughts are spoken out. But it also gives a different impression of HT.
Ji Xing has regrets about her one-night stand. On the other hand, Han Ting is disturbed by her quick disappearance. Afterall, he waited ten years for this, and she disappears on him again.

After Ji Xing stopped, turned her head, she looked surprise and happy to see HT standing there, and HT stared at her deeply but unlike JX, who was ecstatic, he was restrained. HT's strides are like a marathon runner: long, synchronized, deliberate. precision, endurance, control, purposeful, long-term like him. JX's strides are shorter like a sprinter, but a bit chaotic like her: quick, impulsive, urgent, spontaneous, and short-term. JX never even notice HT passed her by but HT noticed and was mesmerized by her. HT seemed desperate that she might not stop.
