This comment validates to me how good a job Xu Kai with Bian body language and all.

Some people watch this drama and don't understand the outfits. What do you expect when the character has no money and probably wearing used clothing.

Bian Luo Huan also disguises himself when he is in the mortal realm. He acts quite different than when he is at home at Yujib Hub. Xu Kai really plays three personalities in the same time period.

For a 3 yr old, in human perspective, she can be called a gifted and talented child.
She is so smart and clever, wise too, and very powerful, with a cute voice. Also, a very kind, perceptive, and compassionate creature.

As I randomly rewatch scenes from prior episodes, I appreciate the first 18 episodes diving deep into each character, esp. the warm, lovable, adorable, cute, special, fun, and smart, charming, and loving relationship between Jinzhao and Qi as well as Qi relationship with Bian is touching.
Other than the two clowns (Gao, Meng), all the characters are interesting and intelligent.

I read there has been a lot of foreshadowing so I'm going back to look for it.

Both Yue Jin Zhao and Bian Luo Huan are fascinating characters in context of this story. Who will you favor at the end or won't be able to choose as ...

I'm okay with other romantic scenes esp. that bathtub scene, I thought that was pefection. Just this particular one fell a bit flat, and it was an important scene. This director hasn't directed a drama for a while. I think things will get more interesting after ep 18. When I go back and rewatch the past episodes, I actually find it even more interesting since I can now pick up the foreshadowing from their lines. I'm not as expert as others on the technical issues and it doesn't bother me. I'm more into the story and the acting. I'm not an expert on martial arts but the fighting scenes look great to me. I always enjoy Xu Kai fighting movements and Esther surprisingly martial arts leaves me feeling she's a powerful force - she's fun to watch. Also, I'm not expecting high opposite sex tension in this drama because that is not the focus of this drama.

Ep 17
Bian got to spend 1/2 day with Qi, like a gift from heaven. While Qi was lying in the Mist Soul, it made a connection with Qi and caused her memory to go back to 3 years ago when she was with her Master. When she awoke, her memory is in past, and she doesn't know who Jinzhao is. This is special and sweet opportunity for Bian who was not allowed to reconnect with her again. The Mist Soul is among the nine Springs, is the gloomiest and most chaotic place in the world. It has strong time energy and can slow down time, make people forget their recent memories and travel back in time.

Ying Xu Wei said to Bian Luo Huan: "Now the one who's intertwined with Qi's fate is Yue Jin Zhao, not you. Yue Jin Zhao exists because of you. For Qi, you are the past, he is the future. When will you understand?

Bian replies: "I know it all along but I don't want to".

Xu Kai portray of Bian is very good. When Bian first appeared in the drama he is watching Qi, I had no idea anything about him, but I felt his heavy and sad heart, his melancholy demeanor, those eyes gazing into oblivion, I knew Bian is going to be a sad character.

Oh my goodness, Xu Kai and Esther are a beautiful pair! Talk about a match made in drama heaven! They're like the peanut butter and jelly of the entertainment world – a perfect pairing!

Now, let's dish about Esther's baby voice. It's like her secret sauce. Some say it's a director's choice, but I'm convinced it's the golden ticket in China. Esther's voice is like a money printer, and she's not about that dubbed life. Nope, not Esther – she's keeping it real with her own voice, whether it's childlike or all grown up.

Sure, some folks might raise an eyebrow at the baby voice, but hey, it's a unique Esther flavor, and I'm here for it.

The story has only just begun. from here on, the mystery unravels, the suspense is high, the emotions will rise with 18 episodes to unpack it all.

The scene when they found each other again after having been separated seemed rushed. All he said was "I know". It must have been the editing. The scene was fine from the moment they spotted each other, the camera allowed to see the emotions and then they embraced, but somehow all he said was "I know"... that part seemed rushed, and something got edited out.

Ep. 17. Such exquisite masks. The story keeps tugging at my emotions but nothing explosive yet. Ep 18. Gu says he sees a huge disaster coming that could cost him his life. This feels like the turning point in the drama.

Chinese Paladin are all very emotional stories that will leave a lasting impression on you if the drama is done well. No one has seen the drama ending yet but people know the game ending and are speculating.
