I can see why airing dramas strategically and promotion are so important to its popularity and ratings. Viewers tend to switch from one drama to another based on the hype and buzz.

Some dramas viewerships continue to grow over the years even after it has peaked as more and more viewers discover it. The heat index is giving us the current hype. SAF6 got a bad rap on the fl voice. I hope the remaining episodes will overshadow all this negativity.
If I read the broadcast data right, posted under recent discussions, the Kuyun chart says that 1/27/24, SAF6 came in #9 on 1/27, with 1.573M views or 4.68% of total market 33.62M views. I assume the ranking changes daily. Currently, SAF6 is averaging 9.76M views per episode. If this rate is maintained, the trajectory would be 351M total views. This is impressive, but hopefully, episodes 18 -36 will raise the viewership, as the story is more back ended.
can you spoil me on how Bian and jinzhao are connected? what is the secret?
Bian and Jinzhao are not the same person, yet they look identical. Bian belongs to the past (actually even more sad than that) and Jinzhao belongs in the present or today, hence his name in Chinese characters is "Today". In the game, Bian is the real hero of the story.
I read that SAF6 is the most complicated of all the Chinese Paladin stories, but the game was a mess due to a lot of technical issues, that gamers have always wanted a drama made of SAF6 for the story to spread, where the game failed to do so. SAF6 is the only CP story that the characters have no connections to any of the other CP stories. The drama adaptations for CP1, 3, and 5 stories were changed drastically from the game. I don't know about 4 but in 6 here, the characters, attire, objects (gorgeous floating ship) and even some scenes have uncanny resemblance to the game, and the plot follows the game closely, even how the story begins by just dropping you right into the middle of story. Xu Kai did a good job of portraying Jinzhao and Bian so differently because in the game the two are very similar and that would not be very watchable in a drama if the same actor acted the same for both characters. There was no master/disciple romantic relationship in the game. Even though gamers are disappointed in some of the changes to the character's plots, esp. Bian and has lost some of the meaning for them, but depending on how well the drama finds its way back to the themes and how it ends, they should be pleased with how masterfully it mirrors the game. The characters have a lot of personality and dynamics in the game that the actors have not only captured precisely but improved on and truly brought them to life so this fascinating story can be known by non-gamers too.
Beside the overflowing chemistry of Xu Kai and Shuxin. One of the interesting thing on Episode 17-18 isZhu Yu…

Xu Kai did great so did Jing Tian. It was them together that made this a success. They both brought out the best in each other. You can see it off screen their respect and admiration for each other.
I'm glad for Xu Kai he got to work with Seven Tan, such a beautiful person, talented and so much experience. I hope it will go down as one of Xu Kai's best work.
has anyone remembered the opening Douban rating score of this drama? 6.1 or 6.3? The Douban rating score of WOL…
it opened at 6.4 and now it bounces between 6.7 and 6.8, must be borderline 6.8 WOL aired the day before SOKP and when it was done airing, AJTL aired, so many people have not watched WOL. To me, WOL is one of a kind.
Every drama, Xu Kai has different set of expressions/mannerisms/personality for his characters. Can't wait to see what Han Ting is like. It might be the same face, but I never think of the same actor, only the character he is playing. When my mind runs through each of his drama, I can only recall the characters personality traits, not Xu Kai. In his interviews, Xu Kai is nothing like any of his characters, Xu Kai has his own personality, which is very different, at least outwardly.
Thank you. Finally someone that relates to how I feel about airing the two dramas at the same time. They will…
but don't Chinese women sometimes sound girlish in real life? Not all the time but they do informally. It's just how they talk (and act too) in private life.
Xu kai is one of the best kisser in cdrama industry , wish to see many intimate and steamy hot kiss scenes from…
I thought his kissing scenes are quite tamed (like the lips just touch each other and not even directly on top of the lips) except in SHPH, perhaps modern drama and Yang Mi is older more experienced woman, but there's some dynamics between them. He seems to melt around her. It's also possible the co-stars discuss how they want to kiss, what is acceptable to each other. Modern dramas, the kissing is different than costume dramas.. Xu Kai said that too. In an interview, the interviewer asked him if he would ever do a really deep kissing type of scene and he said only if the drama is an award winning one.
Oh yeah, I do recall in Snow Eagle Lord, they did kiss more than just lips touching.. seem more like really kissing and it was for long duration like several minutes! Perhaps his heaviest kissing may be in The Legends with Bai Lu because her character is aggressive and drunk.
from a gamer review: "The ones made in the early 2000s with Hu Ge are 1 and 3, there's also a 5- but these are heavily changed from the original game script to the point where most of it doesn't make sense (IMO)"
I don't know about 4 as I'm watching 6 but 6 does follow the game quite a bit (although mix feelings among gamers about the changes and how it may impact the story) even the drama characters act and talk similar to the game characters. As far as your comment on "too much romance" in 6, that is not true if you understood the significance of their "resonance" relationship to the overall plot. SAF6 is NOT a romance love story but has romantic scenes. There is no boy meet girl or vice versa, boy chase girl or vice versa, boy dates girl or vice versa, no falling out, no conflicts, no jealousy, no love rival (not really, if you understand the story), so it's not a romance story at all; but the first 18 episodes need to establish the relationships of key characters, so you can understand the next 18 episodes. SAF6 is a complicated story with fascination into closed loop space and time (mobius).
CP1 and CP3 are done in a different era with the hottest actor at that time, Hu Ge and the actors back then are different lot. You can't compare a particular drama to the production back then to today. The way they make movies back then is different. Today, they crank out a drama in matter of 3 to 4 months. You might as well compare the entire movie industry 20 yrs ago to today.
Xu Kai is not popular in China but he is very popular overseas. SAF6 is not a flop. It is #1 on WeTV across 26 countries.

KaiKai "fluttered like a butterfly and stung like a bee" in this role. In my humble opinion, this is his best work at the moment. Unforgettable!
