I really enjoy Esther's moves when she is fighting. There is something about her that really stands out to me. She has really good moves, good control, timing, speed, power, like she really packs a punch into it, and when she fights, she looks like she's doing a fighting dance. She is so focused. The way she conducts herself really makes you feel how courageous and powerful she is. Her acting is really excellent. The way she cares about Jinzhao is so genuinely expressed.
The actor who plays the Gao Xiao is a good actor. I remembered his performance in The Story of Yanxi Palace. He always plays the weird characters.
Up to episode 22, I still don't understand about the plot, like what the hell with those orb and relationship…
The Orbs are harvested from human energy Kun needs. Kun is trying to save the Yu clan who reside on her back. When Kun ascended, the Sea of Clear Skies on its back almost collapsed into ruins. The human energy contains dark energy so Kun has been contaminated and could lose control. Hengdao is working with Kun via Quiyan sect to harvest human energy for Kun. Qi was created as a preventive measure in case she lose control. BLH created Jinzhao because he could no longer resonate with Qi due to an injury 3 years ago.
On Douban, some people are mad at his director. I think this is his first work as the main director. Previously, he co-directed a drama in 2017 and 2021. I haven't watched ep 22 but they seem mad at him for having deleted some emotional scenes and a "famous scene". "I took a look at the script. There are a lot of emotional scenes between them before they return to the Sea of Clear Skies. All Gone. He deleted them all! What happened to the line where Qi says, "I wish to be together forever, and I like Today the most". "Every time there should be a big emotional scene, you raise expectation, then let down, you are to be measured. You deleted the key reconciliation scenes that express the feelings of the two, leaving a bunch of slow-motion MVs", " and I really hate editing and directing". "It's not in the play, and although it doesn't seem to affect anything, I still think it's a pity", "Such a good line, why delete it. I want it, I think a script is very good", I'm heartbroken, deleting the emotional line is more uncomfortable for me than be, this may be why the clips 😭 I will watch back and forth after the ending are deleted", "Such a classic line............ gone", Liu Guonan, you... Please, don't be a director if you have a little conscience."
Oh My! I haven't watched ep 22 but was it too measured? I don't know how these people have copy of the script but they seem to know what was deleted. Sounds like the script was even more emotional but the director cut out a lot of it. It sounds like he did the equivalent of deleting a famous line like in Gone with Wind, "Frankly, My Dear, I don't give a damn".
I prefer couples who already have a friend/partner relationship than those who have just met in the first episode.
Qi and Jinzhao have been together for 3 years in search of their identity. They are both very innocent about their feelings toward each other. In the beginning, Jinzaho didn't want anything to do with her because she was so "dumb" to him because she couldn't even speak properly, but she helped him one day, so he let her follow him and they been together for past 3 yrs. in search of their identifies. They have a great relationship, very precious, adorable, and charming. They both trusts each other completely. She takes him literally. He thinks she needs him and is very protective of her. He teases her a lot and pulls on her cheeks and treat her as her big brother. They fight for the eggs in the noodle soup. He complains she eats so much they will go broke but he actually very kind to her. Then people start to tell him that he acts more than just her "big brother", and he starts to explore his feelings, but she has no understanding leaving him feeling confused and lost about their relationship. These emotional dynamics are different than any other romance drama you will watch and both actors are superb depicting these innocent emotions. They are basically like childhood sweethearts. In the episode, when their lips accidentally touched, he realized what intimacy feels like and she even though don't' quite get it but feels something wonderful about it. She is not a 3 yr old body, both are teenage bodies, but she has only experienced 3 yrs of human communication and emotions, so in that regard, she's 3 yrs old.
I am watching this one, its kinda cute, got a good mystery there too, BUT that high pitched voice of FL, I can…
the childish voice is part of her character. She woke up with no memory and no language skills. honestly, they found the perfect actress to play Qi, anyone else, we'd get a different personality and I really enjoy Esther portrayal of Qi which created chemistry with how Xu Kai portrayed Jinzhao.
Who said this drama is a flop?! According to ranking reported on Here's Marcus, Sword and Fairy ranked #1 last week in the Top Chinese drama for week from 1/21 to 1/27, despite not airing on 1/25 and 1/26. It garnered 567 points. I knew the week before it ranked only #9 because it had just aired 1/18. Not bad for a drama with no hype before airing.
good for AJTL, still in the top ten ranking long after SOKP and WOL has dropped off the ranking. I feel XK has two successful dramas now with WOL and SAF6 (to the haters who during WOL airing were writing that XK has had string of failures)
Ep 10, after BLH returned to Yujib Hub, is discussing Qi with older brother: Ying Xuwei: Qiyuan Orb (contains energy or life force of humans) contains all kinds of dark emotions before (humans) dying. Has Qi's temper changed after absorbing the Qiyuan Orbs? Bian Luohuan: Nothing changed Ying Xuwei: After absorbing the Qiyuan Orbs, Qi's strength has greatly increased, and her sanity hasn't been affected. This is beneficial for us.
So, from this conversation, we know that Qi's Mother, Kun, the great mythical beast, has been contaminated by the Qiyuan Orbs dark human energy because we know Kun has been absorbing human energy and why else would they ask if Qi has been affected too. And we see in later ep when Qi uses Meditation Spell to enter Kun's awareness, she finds a very scary awareness. We can gather from their conversation that Qi not being affected by human darkness is going to help their plan.
In honor of truth, her voice is nerve breaking. But I endure only because of Xu Kai.
I can understand your feeling but it doesn't bother me. I think in real life Chinese women act and talk girlish in real life when it's informal setting.
I read cdrama subreddit that both Sword and Fairy are flop.
I rather not believe everything I read and make up my own mind. I am NOT implying the reddit are haters, but Xu Kai has a lot of haters, and some are quite vicious even trying their hardest with dirty low blows to bring him down.
They should just let master die. I don't even like his character and also his romantic storyline with young girl.…
they were in a relationship 13 yrs ago for a decade together. Their physical bodies are the same age, it's just that she has no recollections of anything, and her experiences are that of a 3 yr old but physically, they are the same age.
in the game, BLH and Qi do not have a master/disciple or romantic relationship. This was added to the drama.
trailer for episode 28 mostly confirms my theory except I got one part backwards
Qi's mother absorbed energy from humans and humans have an evil side to them so that dark energy she got from humans contaminated her goodness and can cause her to lose control and fall deeper into darkness. This is revealed but not explained in the scene where Qi enters her awareness with the meditation spell to find a scary awareness. Herein lies the reason for Qi's existence (preventive measure if her mother lose total control to darkness) which is also not explained, and also explains why Qi is brought up by BLH's group (Hengdao Sect) for her protection. Those pearls are human energies that Qi's mother feeds on. They are sacrificing humans to save Yu clan. In a scene, BLH and older brother Ying Xu Wei pondered by Qi having absorbed Qiyuan pearls have not been contaminated yet with darkness.
Not sure if you’re a Xu Kai fan, but his new modern drama “As Beautiful as You” is supposed to air soon…
Did you watch Wonderland of Love yet? It's tons of romance if you like romance, but it more predictable than SAF6, but the romance keeps you excited for more so you keep watching. A Journey to Love is a really great group story too and good acting, esp. Celica Liu.
I'd go back to find those lines but in one epsidoe Qi said maybe the two who will die are me and Jinzhao. Then in later episode after she returned to Jinzhao, she wishes that she can be Jinzaho forever. Which will it be? Can it be both things?
In ep 5 why is jinzhao taking a bath with his clothes on? Jin zhao is so cute with his reaction being so shy when…
I think Luo Zhaoyan is 20 yrs old? Xu Kai was a convincing modest shy girl taking a bath. It was good acting. Also, "senior" is an English translation. It probably just means someone more experienced and more experienced usually is someone older than you. Xian Qing is thousands of years old demon who can take form of a wolf. Qi speaks her mind is partly because she is naive with heart of a child, innocent, pure, and trusting but her mind is clever and smart, and person is kind and courageous. Qi body is that of a teenager and her understanding of the world is a 3 yrs old esp. when it comes to opposites sex and relationships, her brain is very developed and she learns fast. Not an easy character to play. The only reason I sense all this about Qi actually right away in episode 1 is due to Esther acting.

I dont' recall which drama, I was shocked, they showed the actor nude (upper part) in the bath
