can 't wait ...
Xu Kai looks amazing in the clothes he will be wearing for his modern dramas. That alone is worth watching if you like to admire beauty. He has been working out, so his figure is very nice. I always root for Xu Kai success. I believe in this actor. I love his hardworking ethic and sincerity. He did a recent interview and said he hopes to use his own voice more in the future. He will get there. He's only 28. He's got a lot of time to develop more skills.

Why the hell 40 episodes seriously 30 are enough for this kinda plot 🤷🙁
movie industry is all about making money and why not? if the fans like it, they make it. Some people felt that WOL has too many episodes but now that I'm at episode 39, my personal opinion is they did a great job stretching it out to 40 episodes. Every episode to me was meaningful to the story, fast paced, and nicely done.

Li Ni’s face was a mix of shock, disbelief, confusion, and skepticism when he saw Cui Lin, whom he thought had died, come back to life.. His expressions reflected his struggle to process the reality of the situation and question what he was seeing before him. The look in his eyes was as if he was thinking, ‘What’s going on?’, ‘Am I dreaming?’, ‘Is this real?’, and ‘Where am I?".

Later, with the same serious intensity, Li Ni said to Cui Lin that he just remembered that he forgot to make the bathtub larger.

Li Ni: You freaked me out. I don't care. You have to make up for me. You made me so grieved and cry so many times. All the people know their crown prince is a cry baby now.
Cui Lin: How do you want me to make up for it?
Li Ni: I don't know yet. Maybe I'll come up with an idea in two hours.
Li Ni: No! I forgot one thing important.
Cui Lin: What is it? Jieshuo? Imperial guards?
Li Ni (looking very worried, scared, and concern): The bathtub in the rear hall. I forgot to change it to a bigger one.

Ep 39 was intense when Li Ni carried Cui Lin’s coffin into the palace. The sword fight that ensued inside the palace was great. I enjoy fight scenes that are up close and realistic. The movie doesn't seem to have a lot of bodies in a scene, yet they can still make the fight scenes exciting. Everything happens so fast. What a satisfying way to kill a villain.

Why is it not believable that the fl and ml survived and have two kids? I'm assuming it was a happy ending for fl and ml.
1. two kids with their names
2. scene of ml from behind, clearly him at the end of the movie
3. no way the fl can die, that is counter to the character throughout the movie she always defied death
4. they never showed the ml and fl actually died

WOL is a light-hearted, easy-to-follow, and fast-paced film. It neatly resolves all conflicts, leaving viewers with a clear ending. Notably, it takes the time to unfold its story across ample episodes, ensuring a fulfilling resolution. Its many sentimental scenes make it highly rewatchable. While it fits within the romantic comedy or romantic drama genre, beyond the surface, the movie explores profound themes related to the human condition. By skillfully portraying internal and external conflicts, as well as clashing values, it transcends typical romantic comedies or romantic dramas. To fully appreciate its charm, approach it with a sense of humor and a willingness not to take it too seriously, and just enjoy the movie, get lost in the fun, don't worry too much about all the little details in the story or the characters.

The General, I agree that he loves his daughter unconditionally. The Prime Minister, I'm afraid, is only good…
At the beginning when she entered the movie, Gu Wanniang said to her maid that she was most useless of all her father's daughters, so that was a clue that that is all about to change for her. All her life, she's been wanting to be of use to her father, so that was another clue to me that she will play a big role for her father, the prime minister.

who says insanity has to make sense?
Insanity, especially when portrayed in storytelling, doesn’t adhere to the rigid boundaries of logic.
1. Drama gives writers and directors the freedom to be creative.
Even when portraying insane characters, they can bend the rules.
2. Insanity as a Metaphor. Insanity need not follow everyday logic.
It can symbolize deeper themes—chaos, fear, or societal flaws.
3. Dramatic works thrive on intense scenes. Unpredictability keeps audiences engaged.
4. In movies, we accept things that defy reality. Magic, superpowers, or absurd situations become part of the experience.
5. The Power of Madness: Sometimes, the most impactful stories emerge from the illogical.
Madness adds depth and resonance to narratives.

C'mon LCF (Liu Cheng Feng) makes the entire drama just silly. He destroys 3 armies, kills 2 princes, brings down…
Revenge and hatred are recurring themes in Chinese dramas. These intense emotions often drive characters to take drastic actions, leading to complex and engaging storylines. Each viewer’s interpretation is subjective, and there’s no definitive answer to whether a character’s drive is “too much.” As long as we engage with narratives that captivate us, the magic of storytelling continues.

In Chinese dramas, the theme of insanity is common:
1. Vengeful Insanity - consumed by revenge or betrayal descend into madness. Obsession with seeking justice or retribution lead to irrational behavior. This theme adds tension and complexity to the storyline.
2. Forbidden Love and Madness - characters from rival families or opposing factions. The intense emotions and societal pressure can push them toward madness. Love triangles, secret affairs, and societal norms contribute to characters' inner turmoil and instability.
3. Supernatural Influence - curses, possession, mystical powers cause erratic behaviors to madness.
4. Power Struggles and Paranoia - Ambitious characters vying for power can become paranoid and distrustful and lead to mental instability. Court intrigue, political machinations, and power-hungry officials create a fertile ground for characters to lose their sanity.
5. Tragic Past and Trauma - psychological scars, unresolved traumas descent to madness.
6. Love Lost and Despair - unrequited love, heartbreak, tragic separations result in irrational behavior, push them over the edge.

Your observation reveals that the plot appears simple but there’s a hidden complexity beneath its surface, sparking different interpretations and occasionally leaving viewers puzzled, invites engagement and discussion. Some audiences may appreciate the layers of depth once they delve beyond the surface. Different viewers engage at varying levels of depth. Each person’s interpretation and exploration can be unique, and your comment encourages a richer understanding of the story and foster thoughtful discussions.

I'm finally at episode 37. WoL is a meticulously crafted drama that weaves its narrative with finesse. Each episode, like a petal in a blooming flower, contributes to the overall harmony of the story. As intentions unravel and twists deepen, the complex human emotions and relationships are thoughtfully explored. The drama takes viewers on a captivating and engaging journey, delving into the very essence of the human condition. What sets it apart is how it allows ample episodes to unfold, leading to a beautiful and satisfying closure that resonates long after the final scene.

By episode 37, the movie masterfully brings all conflicts to a closure for the finality. Cui Lin and Li Ni’s love blossoms and deepens, bringing them into an intimate oneness. This deliberate buildup prepares the audience for the final tragedy: Cui Lin’s poisoning, her inability to awaken, and Li Ni’s anguished heart.”

WoL is a captivating drama that delves into the human condition, portraying the diverse and nuanced aspects of relationships and emotions. Its complexity and thoughtfulness invite the audience to interpret the situations from different perspectives. False accusations from someone who is very important in your life can have a significant impact on the accused person’s mental health. . The human heart is vulnerable yet resilient.

At that point in the confrontation, Cui Lin believes that Li Ni still despises her for betraying his army, even though she had not done so. Li Ni had said that he would not hesitate to kill her the next time he sees her. She knows that he was watching them get ambush and letting them all get killed. She's basically telling him that hey I saw that you and your men were watching us for a long time getting ambushed. You could have come to save us, but you would rather we all get killed because you think we betrayed you, well why didn't you come later, after I'm killed too. Li Ni wants her alive to bargain with her father, but I believe that deep down, he would not be able to bear to let her die, although he nearly did let her die watching the ambush. It was LCF who took the blow for Cui Lin, yet I'm sure Li Ni would have been able to shoot the arrow to save her again.
Cui LIn was not asking to be saved but asking to be killed with master. She saw master take the blow for her. In that moment, she felt guilty that she should have died not him or that she should have died along with him. This movie deals with complex human emotion across different relationships and different situations

my point is that the movie is subject to interpretation, so you can interpret it any way you want. It doesn't matter what anyone else says, including the actors or even the script writer because they left it unclear, it's now up to the audience to decide for themselves. If it were clear, then there wouldn't be so much chatter about it. If someone decides that it, is HE, then it is HE for them, and if someone decides it is a SE, then it is a SE for them.

I came across some blatantly hateful comments about Xu Kai’s acting skills in MDL page for Dance of the Sky Empire. Other actors get criticisms that are debatable, but Xu Kai gets pure hate that is unjust and uncalled for.

On another note, AvenueX won't review WOL despite some begging her for past few weeks is an indication that WOL is solid movie with no flaws worth mentioning or its strong points outweigh the bad. All she can say is that it garners a landmine/goldmine but is a boring movie.
AvenueX is known to criticize Xu Kai at every opportunity she gets. She gave SEL worst special effects of 2023 for how the actors move their hands to cut through time and space in a purely fantasy world. She might as well not watch any drama that people can fly through space with no devices because that is a total impossibility for humans on Earth unless the characters are from another planet like in Superman. She did a very negative review on The Last Immortal that aired recently and linked it to ALP engaging in bad faith criticism with intention to create negativity on ALP which she already criticized negatively back when it aired. One of her criticisms was the colors were bland. It's a good thing I watched ALP before I saw her review and was not influenced by her. Before I heard her criticism, I liked the pale pastel colors and found them beautiful, soft and reflected the mood of the movie and the music. I thought the costumes were very nice. I understand criticisms are subjective, but she seems to have intentional biases (conscious) as opposed to implicit biases (unconscious).
