I'm glad Jing tian was paired with Xu Kai in WoL. She seems to be genuinely caring of him as a person in real life. These two are really comfortable with each other. There is kindred spirt between them that is reflected on screen. They helped each other to bring out the best in themselves. Given the amount of screen time together, they had to work well together.

Even though sml is too much a clown; after a while, wears on you, love the actor though. Some people actually don't care about flaws and what not, they just want to enjoy a good story/plot, as long as acting is decent. Not everyone nitpicks everything.

I don't like to compare but since it is a topic here. Each movie is unique and has its own merits. Comparing movies can be difficult because they are often created with different goals in mind. Each movie has its own style, tone, and message, and it’s important to appreciate each movie for what it is. If the movies are created with the same goal in mind, then comparison makes sense, but these three movies are uniquely different. Audience’s reaction to a movie is subjective and can vary from person to person. This is because each person has their own unique tastes and preferences when it comes to movies.

In terms of the subjective ratings on MDL, AJTL 8.8 seems to be heading to 8.9, follow by SOKP 8.8, follow by WOL 8.5. I doubt these ratings will change but AJTL rating probably will go up. In terms of watchers on MDL, SOKP is highest and will be hard to beat this year, follow by AJTL, then WoL. At 2.9 weeks of airing, SOKP already had 10,433 watchers on MDL, and AJTL at the same juncture today had 7,232, while WoL had 7,694 despite airing within a day of hugely popular SOKP. but I believe in another 3 weeks, AJTL will exceed WoL but not by a lot, but doubt it can beat SOKP which is currently at 13,086. AJTL is adding about 1,000 a week. If MDL watchers is a good indicator of popularity, then SOKP is most popular of these three this year.

To me, I don't put too much emphasis because I see older movies that in my opinion are even better movies with even higher quality acting than these three and are rated below 8.5 so that got me thinking anything over 8.2 or 8.3 on MDL is indication that is pretty good movie and was well received. I don't mean to put any other actor down in AJTL because they are all good and I have my preference in terms of which actors I like more but I believe LSS should win a best actress award for her performance.

All three movies are to be praised for its own merits; all three have a lot of satisfied fans.

I found this reviewer perspective fair and balanced. Basically, she's saying Jing Tian portrayed the character well, even though the character may seem a bit cold. In my view, I like the character exactly the way she is. It just fits the story perfectly for me.

I saw comments that XK won three awards:

I'm not at all surprised he is so popular abroad. He has this universal beauty and charm.

JT and XK at Tencent All Star majestic and regal appearance looked like they stepped out of a fairytale. Reminds me of Disney movie. Prince Charming and his bride.
They exude elegance, style, simplicity, grace, poise, sophistication, innocence, and pure beauty. JT and XK have such graceful walks. JT has a beautiful figure.

No wonder I was impressed by Zhou Dongyu in ALP. I never heard of her before I watched ALP. She is a Four Dan actress and has been nominated 30 times for Best Actress and won 14 of them across 11 films, and she's only 31 yrs. old.

I was moved to tears in ep 31. I did not think that I could be moved to tears since I've seen the trailer so many times before. The image of Li Ni gazing at his brothers is forever etched in my brain. Just thinking of Li Ni talking about Bao is too sad.

LSS was listed as one of the four Dan actresses before 1990. I never heard of her before but was instantly captivated by her in this movie. To me, she is truly exceptional actress of the highest level. She gained fame through the movie Scarlet Heart. I hope she makes more movies because such talent should not be wasted.

Ep 30/31 is the heart of WoL. I could be wrong since I haven't gotten pass it yet. But I am so moved and touched by ep30/31. Wonderland represents the desire for a peaceful, happy life with loved ones.

My interpretation is that Cui lin was not jealous. She could care less. She has no need for a man. While most women are out shopping for a guy, not Cui Lin.

This movie is supposed to be light-hearted and humorous and not serious. You have to be able to enjoy it as entertainment value only. If you see bamboo dragon flies flying out of nowhere, don't question why, it's for symbolism. I don't see other movies getting slammed so much on characters not being up to expectations. However, I think there is serious note to this movie that is subtle and deep having to do with human emotions, and maybe that is what is riling up people what they see on the surface cannot reconcile it, and movies are not always clear, and left it to viewers interpretation.

Even if cuilin is a bad character, I still enjoy the movie because that is the script, and it makes for good dynamics and tensions. It's not real life. I could care less if she's not a good person. I just want to be entertained whether it's a good character or bad character.

that whole thing about her being LCF concubine got Li Ni figuring out her true identify. Remember Bao told Li Ni he is a genius once in a century and the best scout. he can figure out things. what we are seeing is battle of wits.

Xu Kai and Jing Tian explained it in their live stream. They said it was necessary to use both real and fake horses. The horses were imported (so that means they may not be as tamed) are tall and fierce, and hard to control. If the horses get scared with all the heavy filming equipment around especially the heavy noisy drones flying about them overhead and around them, they will get scared and run off. The roads they are filming are narrow paths, and if you fall off your horse, you could roll down the hill and be gone. They cannot risk injury and delay in shooting. I don't know why they had to bring in special horses that are so fierce although they are quite beautiful especially the white one. Jing Tian said these horses are not easy to control and it hurt her hands to control them. Xu Kai and Jing Tian are experienced around horses with all the movies they've made. Does it matter if the CGI is not perfect or sometimes, they have to use fake horse? Chinese dramas, the fighting scenes are all fake with special effects and stunts, actors just need to pose for the camera, it's all fake but should that deter a person from enjoying the movie? Some actors like Xu Kai try to do more on their own even though after editing, you can't even tell. like his sword dance, he said he danced for a long time, but the movie showed very little, or in SEL, he did a lot of the martial arts on his own, maybe almost all of it, but after editing, he said some fans couldn't tell if it was him. The scene where Li Ni said I will marry you to Cui Lin on the horse, bts show the horse having a fit and they had to calm the horse down and then continue. Then they show Li Ni riding off at a pretty fast pace and the camera specifically showed Xu Kai face in that scene. These actors work year-round and have no time to do horse riding, fighting, archery, etc. on a regular basis. They only perform these things during shooting but Xu Kai is skilled in these things so I think it is remarkable they can just do it for the 3- or 4-months' time they are shooting. They are not professionals at these skills. The reason Xu Kai likes costume dramas, I'm guessing since he says in his interviews, he loves to do horse riding, archery, fighting, etc.

I've seen other bts of Xu Kai riding his horse trying to make it go faster but the horse was not agreable. Maybe it has to do with them being imported and not well trained yet, so they have to compromise with fake horses, and even if not, the terrain was narrow, they cannot afford injuries and stop shooting.

Another interpretation of Cui Lin's behavior toward Li Ni is that she thought he was flaunting the arm guards he received from Wu. She wanted to knock him off his pedestal showing it off. Being quick witted, she also sees it as opportunity for psychological warfare to disturb his mind for the upcoming negotiations. She thought to herself, that'll serve him right trying to show off. Li Ni thought the arm guards were from Cui Lin and was teasing her that she is actually tough on the outside but soft on the inside, but somehow that message must not have gotten through. He did not realize it was not from Cui Lin or that Cui Lin knew it was from Wu. Cui Lin thought that Li Ni would have known it was from Wu. It was a misunderstanding that the script writer needed to build up some tension.

Cui lin is not your typical girl. She has never needed a man in her life. She does not fawn over men nor like men to fawn over her and she does not easily succumb to men.

what kind of love story involves a dignified ml? the ml would have to be serious person. sounds boring to me.
