Oh Please, Liu Yu Ning can't compare to Xu Kai! He simply doesn't have the depth of expressions, according to my tastes. Leo Wu, sure he's a good actor, he's very well trained, but he doesn't have that extra special thing that Xu Kai has in my view. No Chinese actor has accomplished what Xu Kai has done. Who rose to international fame on their first drama, not even a leading role, and very limited screen time? I don't consider Untouchable Lover as his first role, that wasn't a real role. Yu Zheng didn't even give him a proper character in UL. Even his friend who played his eunuch in RF got a meatier role in UL. XK got to play Fuca Fuheng because the actor cancelled so YZ had to put Xu Kai in there last minute. No Chinese actor who has zero acting experience in their first real role, has ever done what Xu Kai has done. Now Zhou DongYu was handpicked by famous director for the lead in Under the Hawthorne Tree and she also had no prior acting experience, and it was also her first role, but that's different than Xu Kai's situation. XK was not handpicked, no famous director went and search for him for a role, he got his because someone cancel and his role is not a leading role. There was no expectation of him in a role that is Imperial guard with limited screen time, while Zhou Dong Yu was handpicked with great expectation, hers was a super prominent director and it was a leading role, a lot was riding on her performance even though she was a total unknown. Yeah, I don't know any actor in XU Kai's situation that did what he did. It just doesn't happen. Only happened to Xu Kai because he got that extra special thing.
Also, young actors, they start out, they also sing, dance, etc. and variety shows, eventually the visibility help them to become more popular, and they get a few roles and get noticed more and more, that's usually how it works. Also, marketing / hype helps. Xu Kai does none of that. Well, he's on GE for three seasons now. But before that he was not a reg. member of any variety shows.

It seems to me 2025 is not only a turning point for actors turning 30 or pass 30, but also for the agency, Huanyu Entertainment which started in 2012 and Yu Zheng signed on many of his current actors in 2016, except for couple of more recent younger ones 25 and 23, his actors are, after 9 years, is a long time, they're no longer 20 somethings

I'm sure he has things going on in his life just like everyone else. He probably didn't even waste his time on the fake scandals. Also, it's good to keep low profile if you're not working so black marketing can't spin anything. They can take the teeniest tiniest thing and spin it into something big, with Xu Kai, it's negative, with other actors, it's great things cuz they paid for it.
