I love this movie in all its weirdness and I really want more people to watch it (and then go add to the number of fanfics on AO3!). But if you're coming in from Onmyouji you should be warned that this isn't just an AU, it's a whole different thing. Kind of like the Keanu Reeves Constantine movie vs the original comic books: some of the elements are shared and if you enjoy those, you may well enjoy this IF you don't go in expecting "the original but in Chinese". Boya, in particular, has very little in common with (fictional) Minamoto no Hiromasa, and thus their dynamic is also different.

(It's also pretty different from the other Chinese Yin-Yang Master movie that came out around the same time as this one, but in that particular case I would argue that this version is superior rather than just different.)

The "third prince" character in Agent from Above is specifically a modern spin on the god Nezha--there's a wikipedia article on him that's a pretty good introduction.
