as someone who read the webtoon before watching the drama, i must say that conversion from webtoon to a kdrama version is done pretty well. i know not everyone is going to agree but with a solid cast, it was quite entertaining to say the least.

while i'm not the fan of the way kdramas insert a love triangle and that too make it instense when the drama is about to reach its climax, i personally still enjoyed the drama. the cast did a wonderful job on their roles and i can not help but praise the performances of moon ga young, cha eunwoo and hwang in yeop.

although i preferred a story centered around jugyeong working on her insecurities and confidence and a support group consisting her gal pals and broski with a supportive mom, i pushed everything away and came back to the reality that this is still a high school cliché drama.

as the episodes went on, i can't deny that the story got quite boring. while the scenes were hilarious, i just wished they didn't drag much of jugyeong hiding her bare face. the title is true beauty and i get that the romance is a central point but i feel like jugyeong's character development was short lived? i genuinely didn't like how suho literally followed jugyeong around just when she had the chance to move on. for real, it literally makes no sense for suho to come back and get back with jugyeong but.... this is a cliché kdrama and i need to remind myself of that point.

all i can say is seo jun deserves better. the guy finally had the courage to confess after 2 years but the writers said "you're a sl. you have no right." i would've accepted it more if suho came back because he wants to make amends with jugyeong but not to be in a relationship. i guess i'm asking too much because...... this is a high school cliché drama.

however, this does have its charming points. seojun's group of friends and tae yoon had me wheezing. jugyeong's sis and her grapefruit was a breath of fresh air. su ah's conversation with jugyeong about su jin was a lot to think about. while i didn't like how su jin's character was handled (tho it was reasonable), it was nice to see her live for herself and not under her dad's abuse.

overall, this drama was cheesy yet enjoyable if your cringe meter is turned off and you're in for cutesy vibes.

oh boi i wasn't ready at all for this one
my biggest mistake was not reading the tags nor the synopsis so i wasn't aware of the infidelity. besides my carelessness, i actually found this movie to be emotion-inducing and one of the main feeling here is frustration. everyone frustrated me. i'm not kidding.

this one tells a tale of two completely questionable dudes in terms of moral compass. what i like is that this movie doesn't sugarcoat anything. we are presented what the mixture of insecurity and loneliness can do to someone. such combination can lead to desperation of returning to a situation that is not going to benefit them mentally. there is no romanticising this relationship. instead, the viewers are given both point of views with no justification of the main characters' actions.

both the main characters are awful in many ways. yet, sympathy is felt because they both have different sides and internal issues. i'm no way in support of the cheating but it's really interesting how otome is shown to have the tables turned as he was the one to wait for igisame instead of the other way around. the chair was a nice touch of symbolism for anticipation/waiting.

overall, this movie was definitely a profound take on mature topics and didn't go around in circles conveying them.

instant mood booster

the first two weeks of new year was pretty rough for me and i was looking for something very light and hilarious to distract me from everything and to my surprise, welcome to waikiki is the perfect drama to make you choke from laughter at 3 am and let your worries be washed away as every episode is nonsensically funny.

there was not a single character that is squeaky clean or perfect, no barbie-like or ken-like type of characters. everyone is a mess and relatable i love it. the comedy can be quite over the top but it somehow works and the timing is done just right for such comedic scenarios. it's nothing clever but it's definitely entertaining and binge worthy.

what fell short for me is yoon ah's character and the useless love triangle. i didn't like the way they made dong goo jealous and interfere in yoon ah's relationship with hyun joon because while hyun joon did have feelings for yoon ah, i felt like the two were sort of going through a similar situation and it would've been nice to see them have more conversations. yoon ah didn't get much or any character development at all. she's just there because she's sol's mom and to bring in last minute drama with sol's dad which could've been discussed in the earlier episodes if the love triangle deal was shortened. in my opinion, the ending was a bit rushed.

nevertheless, this drama will hold a special place in my heart and the urge to rewatch is high. gwenchana gwenchana, pals.

don't think. just laugh.

despite watching this a few years back, this was still fairly entertaining. however, as this is my nth time watching it, my views on it has changed.

with no doubt, 'the dude in me' utilises its body swap theme in the most amusing way. in addition, it is action packed with satisfyingly kickass fight scenes. all in all, this combo of comedy and action sold itself well to the viewers.

when we talk about the plot, i preferred to not focus on it at all. the story was more heavily focused on jang pan soo yet it felt like it was used as a comical device rather than an important part of the movie. there were some 'emotional' scenes but it got played down by how hilarious the context is.

while i found it entertaining, some scenes leave me with a question mark. you'll have to truly turn off your brain to digest certain parts of the movie. as it is a body swap and one is a high school student, it takes some time to adjust. even then, jung jin young did well to portray his roles and i have no complaints for the rest of the cast.

overall, it was a no-brainer comedy that i don't mind rewatching again.

give me more!!!

for a low budget drama with short episodes and nonsensical plot, in a span of an hour, i was pleasantly surprised by how much i enjoyed it.

sure, maybe at some point, the weird transitions, editing and sudden odd choice of music did irk me. however, the acting of mu yun, hongyan and xuanyu were impactful enough to keep me watching.

the whole time travel deal could've been interesting and explored more. it also would've been helpful to delve deeper about hongyan and the fans. what a shame that the duration of the episodes wasn't enough to produce more depth.

overall, this somehow gives me hope that in the future, there'll be full length gl wuxia dramas or whatever kind of genre. i hope it'll be soon.

i'm no avid fan of overly sweet romances unless done in either a captivating way or made me entertained so watching a movie such as this felt like revisiting the old school movies and the only thing missing is a grainy filter.

the way the story climaxed isn't entirely unique but i absolutely loved the way it progressed. as a viewer, the pacing didn't feel too overwhelming or tortoise slow... it felt just right. the soft ost was fitting to the delicate story that was told and added to the emotional impact of certain scenes.

with how stellar the cast was, it didn't entirely bore me. i guess the only downside was how i already saw the same plot before and didn't do much to keep my interest at its peak towards the end. perhaps a twist or some sort of alternate ending would've created a better impact to the story.

overall, this is a sweet romance enveloped with a bit of melodrama and what love can result to one's hard-hitting sacrifice.

as someone who hasn't watched the original, i personally enjoyed this version. the elements here are horror, thriller, friendship, comedy, romance and family.

i must say that the cast did a decent job portraying their roles and didn't feel out of place. jeen, off, junior and leng together as a team grew on me and i actually liked seeing their charades when they're working on a case or exorcising ghosts. the dragged part was at the start when junior and leng were being told to have their club disbanded. the efficiency of story telling and pacing would've done better if those scenes were shortened.

dr. jade's actor did a solid job to creep the viewers out. the portrayal of a seemingly kind and animal-loving professor definitely was eery compared to what he really was up to. one thing i didn't understand was how his mom was able to face him after all those crimes he committed (he was possessed but still).

off and his uncle was super heartwarming to watch. the two almost made me tear up because of how much they cared for each other. off's uncle deserved to be happy as he was fighting all his life to protect his nephew so seeing his friend not make it was absolutely heartbreaking.

the romance didn't do much for me. off and jeen are cute together but i was getting sibling vibes for some reason. it almost felt forced and draggy. besides that, off and jeen undoubtedly have chemistry and it was seen during their ghost battles. the notable thing is that jeen isn't really portrayed as a damsel in distress. even though she needs help at times, we can see that she is strong willed and capable.

overall, this is quite a fun drama if you're looking for horror combined with heartwarming relationships.

if you're hesitating to watch this, let me tell you: don't hesitate. watch it with full force because it's an amazing drama that's wrapped up with the most hilarious scenes and toned down with absolutely heartbreaking scenes.

it seems like this drama's goal is to truly keep one's attention because there was nOT a single boring moment. some of the investigation scenes are quite questionable if you're picky with crime dramas but then you're suddenly diverted to a scene of two goofs being goofs in a convenience store and some dude with a dog mask.

what i can say is that the way the characters are written here are close to being top notch. you'd think the villains are just pure evil but then we're given a glimpse that they themselves are having a hard time in choosing the right path. the character development is well done with jang ryong and i hope we get to see him with songsak in season 2. i'm super curious how cheol beom's character will be handled in the next season as it's seen that he felt guilt though he didn't show it.

i love that this drama is not entirely heavy as the comedy timing fits well and doesn't drag the scenes too long. what's great to see is the chemistry of the police gang, the church gang and pHeOniX seOn. all of the cast did an amazing job with their portrayal of their characters especially kim nam gil; the smug remarks, the emotional scenes and badass scenes moved me and now my priest kink shall live on for many years to come.

absolutely beautiful go watch it

this has a typical enemies to lovers kinda vibe but there are wondeful layers to this drama due to such an amazing performance from the cast and the creative writing.

yes, it's very cute sO cute that it'll break your heart and it was bound to happen.

mico is someone who hasn't experienced falling in love and when xavier entered the picture, all emotions riled up. i can not fail to talk about how mico's actor beautifully portrayed his character; from the insecuities of not feeling one doesn't deserve the right to be loved and to a broken heart trying to get back up. the expressions and crying scene of mico coming out to his friends teared me up so hard.... it felt so natural, i honestly wanted to reach out and hug the guy.

xavier, someone who wasn't sure how to handle the situation but was already head over heels for mico. this guy was so used to not having a pair of ears that listens to his thoughts and worries. mico was the right person to make him realise there is someone to talk to and he is worthy to be heard of.

the girls !!! i'm so happy that this is the second filipino bl drama i watched with no toxic/villain female character. it's amazing to see that these female characters are written with thought and care, not just for a plot device or a catalyst to progress the story.

i was so used to those thai/chinese bls having revenge plots involving an ex girlfriend that i was kinda surprised with this one. i love how kokai has such a strong and understanding heart. she didn't brew or plot revenge on mico when she got rejected. instead, she realised they're better off as friends and there is someone else waiting for her. *cOugh* steph *cough* kaiseph is hella adorable btw.

same thing applies to crystal. at first, we saw her as the typical annoying girlfriend. it was so great to see her be mature enough to talk it out with xavier and end the relationship because she knew the guy likes someone else.

i'm really happy with all these filipino bl dramas coming out. i'm stoked to see more!!!

absolutely fluffy i like it

this drama was surprisingly enjoyable !!!

i did find a lot of things ridiculous and the cgi was hilarious. however, this had a really warm feel to it and characters with back stories that made me understand the reasons to their actions.

there were parts where the ml's acting was a bit lacking but it did pull through as the episodes went on. the chemistry between the leads were well done and i absolutely melted at certain scenes. too cuTE what the heCK.
the fl's acting was pretty good good. i did find her lowkey screeching the ml's name a bit annoying at times but it kinda made sense.

the funniest part in this was in the last episode when minami got hit by a car and dude legit levitated off the air kdrama style. it was hilarious. a true cinematic art piece.

overall, this was hella light-hearted and doesn't cause you much headache.

the plot twist didn't save it

reading the synopsis, it states "It is said to be a refreshing romantic comedy about the complicated relationships between three people who are experiencing different emotions."

well.... that was a lie.

starting on a bright note, the movie does try to partake in depicting modern day relationships and how cumbersome the balance between work and life is. however, the sort of comedy aspect of it was ruining the effectiveness of the story. the staff who acts as a cupid should've been funny but i found it redundant.

the cast did what they can and perfectly. the problem lies on the director and the writer. frankly, the romance between bo young and jang hyuk felt forced and unconvincing. to look at it in a different way, perhaps... it was meant to be that way. the romance between the two sparked so fast and says a lot about the ml's character. this guy got on my nerves on how he fails to take responsibility for his actions and instead gets mad because things turned inconvenient for him.... which is realistic.

both are flawed characters and i feel like da eun needed time for herself first before stepping into a new relationship. i do like the jaundice guy better than the ml tho. one thing that was concerning was how he literally looked for her number when he could've just asked someone in the hospital lol.

overall, this is not the worst movie out there. it just tried hard to be realistic but in the end its plot twist defied the movie's potential.

so, what do we have here? amazing (maybe) actors with a painfully boring plotline.

sure, this was interesting at first... a man goes on a journey in search for his mother... i love you krist i really do but i feel like the story was so sloooOoooW that all the characters became uninteresting and annoying
i don't understand why they dragged the "oH where is my mama??" issue when they could've showed wang and his mom meeting in the middle and not when the series is close to its climax.... that is if this even had a climax lol

you just have a bunch of cliches thrown and a side couple with no chemistry...

omggg a breakup in the final episode???????? :oooo i haven't seen that before
oh? this guy falling in love with his best friend and the best friend gets pissed... for some reason??? ahAHA classic comedy
oh this idiotic friend being idiotic because he doesn't have other personality traits than being idiotic???? wow, how refreshing

did i watch this because i'm a fan of the actors? yes. do i regret it? yes and no.
do i recommend it? sure. whatever fits your boat.
