I guess some are homophobic, but its mainly about the fact that BL fans are hating on the drama for a long time…
clock them for me again! but I do wish there comes a time where we will have a mainstream korean drama (and not just exclusively in korea but other countries too) where it's not labeled as bl/gl but there is romance on the side between two male/female leads but is not the focus.... (I agree with you for not categorizing both love between two males and two females as exclusively "bl" and "gl" only, being put on those little genre boxes hinders them to be viewed as merely just "straight" up romance between two individuals, they should be labeled as romance only and that the romance genre as a whole is a broad spectrum of different kinds of love)
queer romance should not be exclusively labeled as it is: "queer romance".... it objectifies, stigmatizes and isolates the love between two different individuals just because they're of the same sex. Whether it be love between two men, love between two women, love between a man and a woman, love between nonbinary folks, all of them should just be classified as simple as it is "romance"!
It's been so hard for me to pick this up after ep 16 idk I just feel like nothing is changing with tingyuns character…
she's mellowed down a bit lol, she and zhao ling kind of switch their idealism... the lady that tingyun was before and during ganlin town mirrors the current zhao ling, and the zhao ling before and during ganlin town mirrors current tingyun... don't get me wrong though, tingyun still is ambitious and wants to strive for the very best but zhao ling atm is more ambitious and power driven lol. it seems like after reaching the capital tingyun kind of just want to settle down and take things slowly while zhao ling, with his fear of many powerful familys coming for them and his beloved, he'll do anything to rise in ranks/power/authority just to protect tingyun and his loved ones.
I really don't like how they wrapped up yucheng's character on episode 17, it just felt way too convenient? rushed? predictable? anticlimactic? I'm pissed.... first dud from me for this series so far....
The first episode is such a chore to finish.... The egregious dialogue, plot, camera work, cinematography, acting, production, dubbing, sound editing, the choppy pacing and editing.... everything is just subpar/substandard..... the director, scriptwriter, producer and the whole crew behind this did not give af about the end product of the series and it shows in the hot mess quality that this have.... What a massive disappointment.....
