In capitalist's saturated industry, money is king, especially with their gov ban on almost many aspect that cause production company to lose a lot and to be tight in budget, any additional fund is appreciated, hence we rarely see well done drama except for Xinli, Linmon etc production company where they have connection so they can keep their production intact but this also use capitalist back up and bullied down other smaller production company in getting good schedule, tv slot etc they don't even have to wait in line. That's why I said, usually chemistry is only perceived when there is a lot of skinship and romance scenes, lingering look at each other, all those heart thumping scenes then people would say the cast would have chemistry but in SAHPH the leads relationship is portrayed through their contrast of ideas and views on life, family situations, outright discussing opinion, realistic relationship development. Its like you see your parents, would you even think of viewing them having chemistry? They are two people who learn to live and grow to love each other by dealing with each other weaknesses and advantages. Chemistry elements is only perceived in fiction imo. Many young ladies who dream of perfect love story while SAHPH is portraying a normal reality of relationship. Most marriage start with love but what turn it into long term is responsibility.

Unfortunately its a thing in cdrama, especially drama that has popular stars. From she and her perfect husband douban official drama group, someone was frustrated enough with the last few episodes that she bought the whole script (you can buy drama script after drama finished airing in China)

The problem with this drama is that side characters actors company paid too much for more screen time. For example bro and sis in law scene that she wanted to jump, they showed/wasted time on this scene, while deleting Yang Hua scene alone at the supermarket after being fired, and he was in low mood then a flying apple to his face by reckless kid added insult to his already bad day. What's left shows Yang Hua seems pretty chill about being fired. Another scene deleted is Cai Liang and Yang Hua in car accident, it's actually a funny scene, because Cai Liang drive like grandma while YH wanted to save Qin Shi so Yang Hua wanted to drive but just realized that Cai Liang car is manual transmissions, so they panicked and almost hit a car so YH swerved to avoid hitting anyone hence the injury to his forehead. So many scenes of the main lead sacrificed to make way for more screen time for supporting actors/actress who paid for more screen time.

In fact these are two different drama. Lighter and Princess are romance for love fool young people who hangs on every fictional lines how flowery romance world can be while She and Her Perfect Husband portray romance in a mature way where responsibility came and you have to own up to responsibility, realistic arguments, challenges as mature adults, so yeah no lovey dovey here. Adulting life is never as fun and as romantic fiction as Lighter & Princess.

Me being Xu Kai's fan, didn't like Falling into Your Smile much, and I know I won't like it from the beginning because it's going to be those brainless love brain drama that I hated. Meanwhile She and Her Perfect Husband is exactly the drama that I have been waiting for and I was ready to be disappointed when I saw the trailer full of kissing scenes, I thought it's going to be another cringe romance cdrama that has been churned out hundreds a year, but I was wrong, it has everything I wanted, a proper career plot, a wise but with personality leads, character development. Me who hate romance drama are 100% in love how Qin Shi and Yang Hua get together and their relationship develop so naturally through hardships and good times. This kind of drama for me is very rare to be made, so I'm glad that it exist and it got the right casting.

Oh so the morning scene that Yang Hua didn't get up it's because he had stomach ache due to eating the spicy mala tang, that's why he was holding his stomach on the bed and even when he opened the door to his father he was holding his stomach but he didn't want to make Qin Shi feel guilty so he didn't say anything. Then later Qin Shi came back home and cooked for him a not spicy mala tang to made up for it. There a small scenes cut that disconnect this a bit.
