If you enjoyed Pull Strings, I highly recommend The Immortal Ascension. I’m only three episodes into Pull Strings, so I can’t say they are exactly the same, but they are already giving me a very similar feeling. Both main characters seem to be on a journey of gradual progression, even when the drama doesn’t always show every step of their development directly. They also have a habit of getting involved in situations they never actually asked for, yet somehow they always end up caught in the middle of things. Along the way, they meet women who become interested in them, adding another layer to their journey. The biggest similarity for me is watching an ordinary-looking man slowly become more capable while navigating unexpected situations. If you enjoyed that kind of progression and adventure in Pull Strings, The Immortal Ascension is definitely worth trying.

However, I do want to give a warning: The Immortal Ascension is not exactly a high-quality production. If you are expecting huge CGI, beautiful costumes, or extremely polished visuals, you probably won’t get that here. It also doesn’t have the usual time-travel or space-travel elements you might expect from some fantasy dramas. Instead, it has its own unique style and story, and that is actually part of what makes it interesting to me. So don’t go into it expecting a visually spectacular production; go into it for the journey, the progression, the situations the main character gets dragged into, and the uniqueness of the story.

This is a remake of the famous Chinese drama The Bad Kids. While both share the same premise, this adaptation is much more direct and closer to the original novel. Because of censorship, the Chinese version had to hide the dark truth behind subtle clues and subtext, whereas this version doesn't hold back.

The ending is presented very differently, but is ultimately the same (those who watched the Chinese version will understand).

Both skip the initial romance for a "pay-to-play" dynamic in the beginning. Both feature intense power plays where professionalism and deep, obsessive desire completely blur
