According to me these two dramas kind of has the same concept but It's not showed in the same way.
For starters, both of them hides their real identity.
In both Dramas there's two males fighting for the girl even though she only loves one of them.
Both of these female leads has to go through hell for their "happily ever after"

Both dramas are quite realistic, yet have funny moments. While Failing in Love is a drama about teenagers and their struggles with school and first loves, Because This Is My First Life is a drama about adults at the beginning of their 30's , dealing with life problems such as marriage and work.

If you like drama series where female lead cross dressing due to certain circumstances e.g. joining military ( Arsenal Military) or palace recruitment (Love in the Moonlight) and the male lead didnt realise until many episodes later that he actually fell in love with a girl.

Both dramas have very very handsome male leads and female leads who looks pretty and also convincing as a young boy. Though the setup, genre, language and era of each drama are different but it is definitely a good rom-com. ???

Both fast passed romances where male is very focused on his love for nieve and shy female.

Where coffee and vanilla female lead is rather unsure of herself in most areas, this female is professionally focused but socially awkward.

Both dramas have pirate theme story background.
Though have comedy, romance and action elements in both dramas but Romance of Huarong is more fictional idol drama like compared to Captain of Destiny, which is based on a historical figure i.e. Cheong Po Tsai, the famous pirate who became a navy chief during Qing dynasty.

In Both shows:

>The Female Leads similar in attitude and their interactions with the MLs are similar as well. With her dictating what the ML should do in order to sell "their (pretend) relationship" to other people.
> The MLs are serious but really nice people.
> MLs' ex return and create a love triangle.
> The MLs bend over backward for the FLs.
> They end up cohabitating.
> They pretend they have a relationship in front of other people.

They have very different plots but the main elements and sort of development of both of these dramas are similar. This is because:

· They are by the same screenplay writer.
· The female lead is far away from her home.
· The female lead hides some things about herself from the male lead.
· The male lead at first appears to be standoffish and not caring but is actually trying to help the female lead feel comfortable and help.
· The male lead is from an influential/wealthy background and female lead does not know.
· The male lead is usually introverted and not interested in others but is sweet and caring with the female lead.

If you liked Crash Landing on You I recommend watching Legend of the Blue Sea.
