The OST was HEARTWARMING, definitely adding 그 사랑 to my all-time favorite songs....
The cast was FLAWLESS...

Don't miss it!

Do yourselves a favour and watch this gem! One of the best productions of the year so far and my new guilty rewatch pleasure! It's such an amazing story that I teared up at the end, even though I had read about the ending! And yes, there is a happy ending, worry not! The chemistry is sizzling and the humour is nicely balanced with the seriousness of the plot. It just goes to show that when the script is good and the writing team knows what the viewers need 12 ep are more than enough to give us the best story ever!

“My Special Girl Unveils a Unique Romance Between an AI Engineer and a Secretive Singer"

“My Special Girl" embarks on a promising start with a unique premise that intertwines the burgeoning world of AI with the complexities of human relationships. The drama introduces us to Gu Jiu Li, the brilliant AI engineer and founder of Jiuqian Technology Company. His dedication to creating companion robots reflects a more profound yearning for connection, possibly stemming from his childhood adversities. The narrative gains an emotional layer with the introduction of Hao Jing, a preschool education senior with a secret passion for singing. Her character provides a refreshing contrast to Gu Jiu Li's tech-driven environment. The clandestine nature of her double life as a night-time live broadcast singer adds an intriguing subplot that keeps viewers invested in her journey. Initially, the drama thrives on these compelling character arcs and the potential for romance between Gu Jiu Li and Hao Jing. Hao Jing's immediate infatuation and Gu Jiu Li's 'facial blindness' create an engaging dynamic that promises humour and heartache. However, as the story unfolds, the pace begins to wane, and what was once a riveting character-driven plot starts to meander into a slower, more monotonous middle segment.
The show's initial charm loses some of its lustre as the writers struggle to maintain the momentum, and viewers might find themselves checking their watches as they wait for the next significant plot twist. Despite the sagging middle, the drama does attempt to rally towards its conclusion, yet it falls short of delivering the satisfying payoff that fans might expect. Unfortunately, while aiming to tie up loose ends, the ending leaves many viewers underwhelmed. In the quest to resolve the storylines, the finale doesn't quite resonate with the emotional depth that the characters deserve. Nonetheless, "My Special Girl" is not without its merits. The performances are commendable, with the lead actors bringing a palpable chemistry that transcends some of the storyline's shortcomings. The exploration of AI and its impact on human emotions is thought-provoking, and the drama does an excellent job of highlighting the importance of companionship and understanding in a world that can often feel isolating. In conclusion, while "My Special Girl" may not be without its flaws, particularly in pacing and a somewhat lacklustre ending, it still offers enough narrative innovation and character charm to make it a worthwhile watch. For those intrigued by the intersection of technology and romance and viewers who enjoy character-driven stories, this drama provides an engaging viewing experience.

You watch it for EarthMix but fall in love with GeminiFourth

I don't know if it was a canon event for everyone, but this happened to me.

Story (8)
I couldn't get caught up with Jim and Wen.... maybe they are a little too serious characters? They are obviously two adults with adult problems, so I found them a little too complicated for my taste. That's not to say they're not a great pairing. Earth and Mix make even the worst-written character shine. But Gemini and Fourth were really a revelation: Ming and Heart deserved to have a spin-off series just for them. I also like that they are finally showing different disabilities in bls, it gives a breath of fresh air to a stale room of super nice and perfect characters.

Acting/Cast (9)
- Earth and Mix never disappoint: they are excellent actors who can play characters with great character depths
- Gemini and Fourth: I saw them for the first time here, and I really liked them; GMMTV's new recruits never disappoint
- First and Kao are a wonderful addition to an already fantastic cast; here they show how they are capable of being good actors even when they are apart

Music (8)
I liked the fact that they had all the guys sing in the opening ost. It's a wonderful lullaby.

Rewatch Value (7.5)
If I ever do a rewatch I will do it for Heart and Ming. I'm sorry to say this because EarthMix is my favourite ship, but in this drama they were eaten up by these two.

Overall (8.5)
Overall it's a good drama. There is nothing really problematic about it. There is just something missing (which I can't describe) about Jim and Wen. Just that.

It's beautiful but depressing af

It's like the heaviest and most depressing BL ever. It's not even romantic, just depressing lol...I guess some would call it artistic, which it actually is

Don't get me wrong, the show could have been great. I especially love the last episode, it's beautiful. I mean there are lessons learnt, etc but the way the show is being delivered is really really really hard to watch

I was enjoying for 1st half until I felt the story gets repetitive and eventually draggy. It also gets really really really depressing that i've to skip most of it, just to know the ending because I am curious

I wouldn't say the show is bad per se, but it isn't my style. Unfortunately, I feel heavy after watching this show, which kinda leads me with a lingering bad after taste, if u may.

I mean I am someone who could watch thriller show, but still, this is even darker than murder show, because its just so heavy emotionally, like it just keep going down the rabbithole. I don't enjoy it although logically I think the ending is very beautifully done. If it's of any comfort, the reaper is hot af haha

Do you like gossip and want to have fun? This is for you

I'm actually shocked at how much I enjoyed this drama. Maybe I was in a good mood, but I was really taken by the various stories of the boys. But let's do a more specific analysis.

Story (9)
As I said, the stories of the main characters really grabbed me. I think the various characters are realistic enough to be almost hard to understand, but if you try you can understand all of them and empathize with (okay not with all of them but almost). It's not the typical GMMTV bl, but it's a breath of fresh air. Small note: the sex scenes are done well and well chosen.

Acting/Cast (9)
There is not much to say except that they are all TOP.
- First and Kao never fail, I found these characters more interesting than those in The Eclipse
- Force and Book are the new kings of adaptability, they are amazing and with a lot of chemistry whatever they do (and then well, the visuals)
- Neo is amazing as usual and I like to see him in such a serious but at the same time bitchy character
- Mark is a pleasure to see as the main character, he has a lot of potential

Music (8)
I am completely in love with the opening theme song. Khaotung did really a good job.

Rewatch Value (8)
I wouldn't rewatch it immediately, but it entertained me so much that I will rewatch it at some point.

Overall (9)
Overall it entertained me and was a good viewing, definitely one of my fav not-typical-bl.

As it is around 1 hour and 40 minutes or so it isn't like it has depth compared to a drama nor has full on character development, but it is still good nevertheless.

Arthur Chen looks a little different in this compared to Lighter and Princess and Ever Night - more so than Ever Night.

I liked him in L&P and grew to love his character in Ever Night and wish he had done Season 2 instead of Dylan Wang. But things were not meant to be...

Yesterday Once More has a Ground Hog day feel to it so expect it to be in line with dramas like: Reset. What I mean by that is - being caught in a time loop or point in time (past) with a chance to either change it or fix what wasn't right so that the future alternates for the better.

This movie is fine as movies go, but I prefer Athur Chen in dramas.

enjoyable comedy/drama

This drama is a great blend of comedy and depth, captivating from the start. If you enjoyed the first episode, you will enjoy the rest of it as well. It maintains its humor even through serious moments, ensuring consistent enjoyment. Despite not having an explicit romance tag, the leads share undeniable chemistry, subtly conveying a believable love. Every character, including the comedic sidekicks, is given their own story, as much as possible given the limited screen time for some of them. I enjoyed the relationships between the characters, and the acting was good. It excels in areas where many more serious dramas falter. A delightful watch that exceeded my expectations. So, if you like the first few episodes, you will like all of it, but this kind of mix of humor and seriousness is not everyone's cup of tea. As well beware the fact there is no romance tag so you know what to expect from the love relationship in terms of portrayal

From the first episode, i already captivated by the demon lord and the cgi. The demon lord/ tantai jin is amazing actor!!! and the fighting scenes and effects are great as well. Li susu is charming too.. i just can say this drama is perfect as a whole although i wish they create season 2 … i want to watch the 2 protagonists happy ending :’(

Kind of all over the place.

I liked the relationships of the characters in this show, but the show would have been better with more communication. Not to mention that I feel like there were a lot of missed opportunities with this show. They cut out parts that I think the viewers would have enjoyed seeing (glamping trip), and then there is a pivotal moment between the two MC and I had to go back because I felt like I had missed some of the episode but I hadn't. There was a lot of weird jumps that took me out of the moment, and the main plot of the flash backs kept me scratching my head for WAY too long.

Not as bad as the rating but also Not a masterpiece. It's OK.

Subjective Gut Rating: 7.75 ( a little bump to up the rating)

The English title, “Hide from the Rain” sounds so much more romantic than the other title “I Keep a Gigolo”. Yet according to Google translate, the translation of the official Japanese title “Watashi ga Himo wo Kau Nante” is “I Can’t Believe I Paid for It’. Three different titles and meanings, yet they all describe what this drama is about.

As a romance-at-heart, of course I like “Hide from the Rain” more. It gives us the background story of our female lead, a smooth transition of Soichi (ML) into her heart & life, and strength to move past a traumatic event. Rainy days no longer sadden her, as her memories were replaced by more pleasant ones.

It is not wrong that the other title talks about a gigolo. After all, ML is one and you will find out about it in the first episode (so, technically not a spoiler). However, I might think of him more of a sugar baby instead of a gigolo.

Throughout the drama, Soichi (ML) gives off a very mysterious and weirdly uneasy vibe. He's definitely not a very likable ML.
As viewers, you knew from the beginning he’s not what he appears to be, yet you don’t find out his secrets until about ep 7. I wasn’t expecting the secret to be like that, as it sort of came out of nowhere. I won’t say the execution is done very well, but it’s definitely quite surprising.

The acting is decent all around. I’m glad Sumire (FL) is not the typical naive and super shy girl. Yuri is pretty and elegant, but her philosophy of lingerie went over my head (let’s just say I don’t think too deeply about the meaning but I’m sure others are touched by what she had to say). Morio is usual friendzoned best friend, no surprise there. I’m surprised to see Izuka Kenta in a supporting role as Ryo. But why does he look older and older each time I see him these days. None of the characters annoy me, yet I also don’t love any of them either (including the leads).

Even though this is not a masterpiece, it definitely doesn’t warrant a low rating of 6.7. Maybe the drama is not cute or fluffy enough? Or maybe it’s not mature and angsty enough? Or the leads are not likable enough? I am not sure but I would rate this 7.0-8.0 (finalizing at 8 to increase the rating a little). It’s short and easy enough to binge.

Other Random Observations:
1. Kotatsu is such a cute robot! I thought we would see more of its function but am disappointed.
2. FL's fashion changes for the better throughout the show. Though not my taste, but I enjoy seeing the different styles, cuts, designs and combination.
3. Triendl Reina is so pretty!
4. Three cameos/guest stars that don't really add anything to the drama.

I can't stop rewatch this drama

I really like the story, actually i watch it randomly because I am bored, but it turns out fun. I never watch drama that the FL is the antagonist, at first the story made me curious but later I am being trapped with the sweet love story and there are many quotes about life that I can relate. Again watching it again and again is not boring rather it make me wanna watch it again and again. The actress and actor is amazing too, I am type of person that focus on expression and voice of the actor, for me in this drama they did really well. I feel like I am not watching the drama but I am being there with them playing the drama because I can feel all the emotion in the drama. I think they just lack in some common sense like when the intern pour water in keyboard but the monitor is the one that shutdown, about the phone and people can hear it I still can relate with it, because nowadays phone have high volume in their load speaker. For the production at first I think its weird but as time goes by, I find it interesting because I like detail so I think its not a problem. The OST is easy listening and my favorite is Emotion Remote Control by Meng Jia. That is all, Thank you Only for love :))

What a strange series

For Him had a promising start as the few first episodes were pretty good and intriguing. But then it fizzled out pretty quickly. The plot had several holes and inconsistencies, and small details really ruined the continuity. For example, the characters' hair colors changed scene by scene, and the flashbacks were easy to mix with the current events. Also the way some plot lines were not fully followed through or finished really made this drama very confusing and difficult to watch.

The weakest point here to me were the characters. Him was very odd, he didn't show much growth during the series and the way he treated Nail like he was a child or a doll he could own was extremely strange. The way he, in the beginning, was very consumed and haunted by the memories of Blue, but by the last episode he seemed to have forgotten his ex ever even existed. He seemed shallow, and like he was only interested in Nail because he was pretty. I don't know what the point of the Mean Girls type of girl gang was and why they were even included in the show because they didn't bring anything into it. I personally didn't even realise Te and Pae were two different people until the last episode, since their characters were so interchangeable and empty. Chao was reduced to over eager, horny sex maniac and Pie into a cold, disinterested artist and their whole plot and relationship was about the same yes-no back and forth. It was strange how they added that random guy to be Te's love interest in the last few episodes, when we hadn't even seen him before and Te had never shown any interest in anyone else than Blue/Nail, but suddenly he had a crush on this random guy we knew nothing about. Also that one guy who waved a gun around in the club just disappeared and got away with it, never to be mentioned again. In the last episode after Nail got his tattoo and Him started touching and kissing it, I almost screamed out loud. That would never happen in a million years with a fresh tatttoo and it really ruined the believability of it for me. When Him put his feet on the fresh tattoo, I could basically hear the infection starting to brew. And yes I know it wasn't a real tattoo but these sort of small details can really make a difference. The main couple didn't give us anything, Nail was a pretty himbo and Him was an obnoxious, kinda gross creep. The plot is full of holes and nothing is followed through or finished. What a confusing and frustrating watch.

Also, the last episode was just a 50 minute long advertisement. Almost every scene had a product placement of some sort, and nothing really happened. I also don't understand why most of the episodes were only 25-30 minutes long and at the end there was 15-20 minutes of bts, that could have been posted separately to youtube. It felt like they had lost interest in writing the show and wanted to fill out the missing time with bts clips.

The low production quality and bad writing really ruined it. If this show had a better production team and actually good writers, this could have been great. But as it is now, it really isn't worth it. It's too bad because the plot really could have been made into something super interesting and exciting.

This is not a good drama, and I wouldn't waste my time on this unless there was absolutely nothing else to watch. I am interested to see the actors in other projects, and see if they would be better working with different production teams. It's a shame this turned out so disappointing after a very promising start.
