BOTH HAVE A GREAT HIDDEN IDENTITY, and the main characters have both a friend that is an enemy for the second identity. And both are doing actions for a purpose that is relased with what happened in the past. And they (kdramas) are very similar in other details and have funny characters around. GO AND WATCH THIS.

Similarities
=> Historical drama starring Lee Joon Gi
=> Excellent action stunts
=> Main character's father died, he takes on a different identity to find his father's killer
=> Main character (aside from his main disguise), also used various identities (thus wears various costumes) to fulfill his mission
=> Main character becomes hero of the people along the way.
Differences:
=> Iljimae uses swords, Joseon Gunman uses guns
=> lljimae is set around 1600s, Joseon Gunman is in late 1800s, close to end of Joseon dynasty
In my opinion: Iljimae>Joseon Gunman, but both shows has their own merits.

Very similar plot - both are "undercover" in sorts - Iljimae is the better one in my opinion. Both have Lee Jun Ki as the main actor

Both having a similar story-line with slight differences and Lee Jun Ki plays the main role in both dramas. As for me Iljimae has the greatest story from both.

Both heroes are charismatic, and both of them are Robin Hood type. a hero fighting against the selfish and corrupt government to save the ordinary peasants.

=> sageuk set in King Injo's reign
=> action packed kdramas (expect many fights and martial arts scenes) starring actors who are considered sageuk kings and have also played Wang So (Lee Joon Gi of Iljimae played Wang So in Moon lovers while Jang Hyuk did in Shine or Go Crazy)
=> female lead is demure and a beauty (trivia: Iljimae female lead Han Hyo Joo was actually considered for Lee Da Hae's Chuno role).
=> male lead and female lead knew each other in the past, however it takes many episodes before they meet again
=> there is a second female lead who is more boyish and not as demure as the female lead who hangs out and falls in love with male lead (the character has more screentime with male lead than female lead)

It is also historical romance drama. It personally loved The Princess' Man! I highly recommend :)

They have the same actress. Both of these has made me cried a lot, very touching. Their meanings are very different, but I still recommended this because both of the storylines, to me, are very good and meaningful. Even though Dong Yi is a long drama, once you watch it, it will keep you asking for what's going to happen next and you'll keep watching it until you'll know it ended. I like Dong Yi more than Iljimae, because Dong Yi is such a inspirational drama to me.

Both dramas are set in the Joseon dynasty. Villains in both dramas are kings (or will eventually become King in Princess's Man). Both main couples in both dramas are kind of "Romeo and Juliet" since the parents of the female lead is an enemy of the male lead (though there is less focus romance in Iljimae). Park Shi Hoo features in both dramas.

1. Lee Jun Ki is the male lead of these two dramas so if you're a fan of him, you should check this out.
2. both are historical dramas and the characters of Jun Ki both have complicated background. In Iljimae, his dad is called the traitor of the country while in moon lovers, his mom hated him a lot. And family is the main key thing to his decision. Revenge.

=> There is a prophecy in both dramas about "two suns cannot exist in the same sky"
=> Same child actors of the 2 main leads which are Yeo Jin Goo and Kim Yoo Jung (personally I don't ship the two former child actors unlike many but it's still interesting too see that their only scene together in Iljimae is so similar to their first meeting in Moon Embracing the Sun, falling petals also feature in some romantic scenes of them both in both dramas).
=> Two half brothers who are rivals for almost everything, half brother envies the male lead for the attention he has with his parents (or their foster parents in Iljimae), to everything the male lead has compared to the half brother, to the female lead that loves the male lead over the half brother (interestingly, the male lead in both dramas are both the younger half of the two brothers and also also the sons by the legal wife of the dad).
=> Eunchae's good heartedness (female lead in Iljimae) reminds me of Yeon Woo (female lead in Moon Embracing the Sun), this is especially true with the young Yeon Woo (Kim Yoo Jung). Han Hyo Joo and Kim Yoo Jung are so in sync with each other as actresses and are really good in playing these beautiful kind hearted noble girls that every male lead likes. (I personally feel Han Hyo Joo would have really rocked the role of Yeon Woo, Yeon Woo with her memories is especially so similar to Eun Chae).

1. Both have the same vibe.

2. Both have main leads that are weak at first but become more mature and stronger through training with a mentor.

3. Both have main leads that seek revenge.

4. Both have great action scenes.
