Mini Mo (Sammi Cheng) is a Hong Kong resident living in Japan. She suffers from depression, low self-esteem and a binge eating disorder - the result which sees her suffers from extreme obesity. A failed suicide attempt causes her to meet Fatso (Andy Lau), a Hong Kong salesman working in Japan who, too, like her, is obese.

This movie is hard to describe. The characters are rather unlikable. Mini is borderline crazy, if not completely so, and Fatso, for two/thirds of the movie, was rather blandly leaning towards being just mean. The story centers around weight loss, and while it does a good job explaining the hopelessness that being obese entails, it does little to actual connect emotionally to the viewer until the last third of the film in my opinion.
The last third of the film is rather touching, but doesn't really make up for the fact that I wasted 45 minutes watching the first part. I will say it does a good job showing how much hard work it is to lose weight, but it's timeline for that weight loss is completely ridiculous.
The end was satisfying, but completely cliché. I won't be watching this one again.

This movie is sooooo funny and good! Andy Lau looked so different and did a wonderful acting job, why did it take me this long to find and watch this movie, forget the negative reviews people, this movie is very good, also the music, watch it if your a fan of comedy romance, older Hong Kong films, or Andy Lau.
The story was fun, nothing mind blowing but very good, and the chemistry between the male and female lead is fantastic, I haven't laugh this hard in a long time, also the ending is one of the best endings i've seen, good job on that.
