Less Sad, Less Annoying, But Less Emotionally Satisfying Version of 'Your Lie in April'
This is the live-action movie version of a beloved anime — loved by many but overrated to some.Basically, it's the story of Kousei, a piano genius, who quit playing the piano due to an incident involving her mother. He vowed never to return playing the piano until he met Kaori.
I don't think this movie can replace the anime. It understandably omitted some of the interesting episodes, but at a shorter run time, it may be good idea for revisiting the story without going through the 24 episodes of the anime, which is equivalent to 12 hours.
The movie has removed some of the things that others find annoying in the anime. For example, Kaori wasn't much of a tsundere compared to the anime, but whenever we see some signs of her being abusive, it doesn't translate well on screen. But we forgive her because the actress playing Kaori is cute.
The downside is that the movie does not reach the emotional peak of the anime. The crucial scene near the end doesn't have the same emotional impact, although it's quiet and beautiful.
It's a good film. I recommend watching it at least once. But whether to watch it or the anime every April to start a tradition, I am not sure.

Wen de world b-comes dark like de bottom of an endless sea; 1 young man must find a way 2 save himself frm drowning in de music world & find de light dat exists in his heart. Dat is the premise for a movie that brings romance, comedy, and classical music to the forefront for your entertainment.De semi-rushed ending kind of turned an already truncated adaptation into something dat left me feeling as if there was just that little extra something missing to make this great. Don't take my rating to total heart, though. I still think this is a movie worth seeing and I encourage you to do so. // VERDICT // After all, besides that this romantic drama proves to be well-achieved, also thanks to nice classical music and a lot of energy.

Music, Grief, Youth, Redemption
I never watched the anime because I never had the courage to do so.But I had to watch this movie since it's a Kento starrer.
This movie was packed with emotions and it made me cry scene after scene. The actors performed really well and the movie was fast paced. The movie was good enough to make me fall in love with the characters and compelled me to watch the anime.

K?sei is a former child prodigy in playing piano, dubbed the "Human Metronome" for his near-inhuman mechanical accuracy, a product of his mother's overly strict methods of teaching. His ability to play the piano with unparalleled precision led him to win many competitions across Japan and even be invited to play abroad. When his mother died, the resulting psychological trauma caused him to be unable to hear the sound of his piano playing, and he gave up on it. Two years later, he takes up the piano again after being convinced by Kaori Miyazono to become her accompanist. Influenced by her emotional and unrestrained playing style, K?sei eventually finds himself falling in love with her. He, however, does not confess his feelings due to him thinking she liking his best friend, Ryota Watari.

If you're worried it will leave you with a heavy heart, you shouldn't. It's that bittersweet movie that won't leave you broken.
What I liked the most were those moments they made the music communicate. "Will it reach you?" I loved this line. Every time it was delivered, I just felt it.
I'm no expert on music nor can I play instruments, but since watching TwoSetViolin on you youtube (not a long time subscriber but they're classical musicians who also react on drama/movie which involves violin.. explaining things like how it's so fake.. lol they're hilarious and savage), it made me also focus on whether the characters will make me believe they're playing the instruments. Afterall, music is one of this movie's main ingredients. You can't leave that out. I was looking at their hand movements, the bow strikes... while listening to the music (again I'm not expert). I gotta say it was believable to me.
I believe they at least had some months of training (I couldn't search but I checked in the comments and they said they did) before making the movie which I appreciate just thinking they made an effort.
Lastly, I quite liked the cinematography ^^
On a side note, the supporting characters didn't feel like they mattered though. I mean they were supporting characters but it felt like they were just passersby.
